It’s not really surprising the Tory members will be upset about this. They’re of a certain type.

Are we? How very judgemental from the 'tolerant left'

Kolarbri · 28/10/2022 12:28

Braverman’s another useful idiot for the erg! Kwashi kwartang was the same.Look where he ended up!

I think he horse traded for votes to ensure he had the momentum to blast Johnson out of the race. Braverman was an ERG culture wars pick that got waverers over to his camp. The fact she comes with a security cloud over her is all the better - he can jettison her with hand wringing come the time she has too much heat on her as the fix is already in !

mynamesnotMa · 28/10/2022 14:05

No let him crack on
Hes a pretty decent guy.
Let's see. Who would the alternative be.

Tolerant left? WTF should I be tolerant of the people who have destroyed my country? Away to fuck with your #bekind bollocks.

mumda · 28/10/2022 16:08

I'm sort of hoping that all the moaning about COP will have Rishi turn round and say "Why aren't we doing this on video calling rather than all having a nice jolly-holiday?"

Badbadbunny · 28/10/2022 16:21

derxa · 25/10/2022 22:23

I like Rishi. Good luck to him. We should all wish him well and stop this stupid narrative about 'dark forces' and ulterior motives. Maybe he just wants to do the best for this country.

Can I have some of what you've been drinking??

Ok I'll start again. Let's have a general election which takes up weeks of parliamentary time. No one is looking at the economy. Then we get a new government with all the disruption that entails. Brilliant

TooBigForMyBoots · 28/10/2022 16:34

Looks like I'm getting an election before Christmas.🙄

Yeah.

Blossomtoes · 28/10/2022 16:54

I feel your pain.

TooBigForMyBoots · 28/10/2022 21:06

There's a Women Demand Better protest tomorrow. That will make me feel better.😊

Croque · 29/10/2022 10:24

I have to say that the coverage of his visit to the hospital in Croydon yesterday was rather illuminating. He came across as being out of touch "Oh, it's so quiet in here" and did not really know how to engage with the patient with whom he was filmed interacting (it was an unfortunate choice for him!). There was something of the grown up nice little boy delivering medication from his mum's pharmacy in his whole manner. Unfortunately, he is no longer a little boy whose mistakes will be glossed over. The knives are sharpened and he will have to stand his ground a lot more effectively to dodge them.

Kolarbri · 29/10/2022 10:38

@Croque This is how I saw it as well. It’s like he was acting a part, but was really bad at it. You can tell he’s uncomfortable with situations like this and with ordinary people.
None of it is surprising really when we know that he boasted on camera that he would divert funds to wealthy areas from poor ones!

Kolarbri · 29/10/2022 10:46

@TooBigForMyBoots Hopefully the DUP will do even worse then they did last time. Who on earth for these dinosaurs!

I love the way the cabinet ministers are backtracking on this one in televised interviews. I expect it is a demonstration of 'party unity' but it does nothing for their sleazy image.

toomuchlaundry · 29/10/2022 11:31

I live in a deprived rural area, quite happy for funds to be diverted here.

Or, shock horror, they could uplevel and put more funds in the deprived areas, rural or otherwise instead of putting one against the other.

there’s no rule which says it has to be the way it is.

blubberyboo · 29/10/2022 14:12

Yabu

In Northern Ireland we are now having to vote again to try and get and executive up and running so be grateful you have a government.

At least in England you have a chance of voting for a party who in turn will appoint someone to be prime minister.

in Northern Ireland none of our parties are anywhere near big enough to be compete against the tories or labour or Lib Dems so we NEVER get a say in who is going to be prime minister. We just have to put up with whoever the English and Welsh vote for.

Just be grateful that you do

I hoping that too.🤞

Today's demo was heartening. We were soaked to the skin and there wasn't a dry eye when we sang Bread and Roses at the end. I'm home and in my PJs now, but so sad and angry at the fucking state of the place.AngrySadAngry

I don't understand why it isn't democracy? What have I missed? You never get to vote for the PM, you vote for the representative for your constituency, then the party with the majority form a government and decide the PM. You never had the choice of who was PM.

Exactly
tjis is the correct democratic procedure

Watchamocauli · 29/10/2022 18:56

Gordon Brown can do it but Rishi can’t . Double standards or you have a massive race issue. Suck it up
