Mums next door neighbour is a piss taker - should I report him (bin related)

So, her next door neighbour works for the council - bin man.

Not only doe he have 3 of each bin (rubbish and recycling) I've just discovered he happily diverts a bin motor his way when they get full. Its not bin day until Wednesday but he's just had his excessive overflowing bins emptied.

I don't live here - live the other end of the country. But it pisses me off. When I live we've just got to three weekly collections and issues with smaller bins.

They already have much larger bins and three of them.

Mother says its just a perk of the job, personally if it was me I'd report him just because I can and I don't see why he should get away with it.

You may have to give your mums address. Sounds like she would rather not get involved. Is your mum happy with the one bin? Councils have different policies. Can't be helped that you gave shaker bins even though he's surely doesn't need 9?

ahunf · 24/10/2022 12:39

Have smaller*

theremustonlybeone · 24/10/2022 12:39

Why is this such a big issue for you?

Focus your energy on something else

bananaboats · 24/10/2022 12:40

Why do you care?

greenhousegal · 24/10/2022 12:41

Compared to the way our politicians are scamming and destroying the country, this issue is a non event. Let him at it, there are far more important things to get worked up about. Not your immediate business anyway is it?

Amortentia · 24/10/2022 12:42

How do you know they are turning up to empty his bins when he wants? My council will give you extra bins for free, and you just need to request them and they'll send them out to you.

JustOrderADoor · 24/10/2022 12:46

WTAF??

what IS your problem?? What happens where you are is entirely irrelevant.

it's your MUMS neighbour, not yours, and she doesn't have a problem with it & why would she? Him having more bins doesn't affect her in any way!

Lots of people get perks of the job and frankly a bin man getting these perks, is the least he deserves! Not many could do the job. So what if he has extra bins & they get emptied more iften

FFS get yourself a life.

Sarahemmabrown · 24/10/2022 12:47

Your poor mum must be wondering how she found herself with such a petty and spiteful daughter. You want to report him ‘just because you can’ - eugh.

PortiasBiscuit · 24/10/2022 12:47

Gawd, being a bin man must be grim. I’m glad they get some perks.

PeekabooAtTheZoo · 24/10/2022 12:47

I think your mum is exaggerating. No one has this much rubbish to put out on the regular.

Wow. Ours won't give you a new one, even when their bin truck gobbles up yours!! 😂 & the driver tells them it did!

Dotjones · 24/10/2022 12:51

Grass him up, you don't need to give your mum's address details. If you tolerate someone doing this, where do you draw the line because presumably you have to draw it somewhere. Benefit fraud? Shoplifting? Murder?

Begoniasforever · 24/10/2022 12:52

Couldn’t get worked up about this, why’s it such an issue for you? Being a bin man is a hard job and if this is a perk then good for him.

SoftwareDev · 24/10/2022 12:52

Possibly missing the entire point if the thread here however……

Why could one man possibly need so many bins? What is he putting in them? Where is he storing them all?

I'm genuinely curious! I live in a household of 4 and we get by with one bin of each type that get emptied fortnightly.

Shareornotwhocares · 24/10/2022 12:53

Because I'm in her house staying here for the week and the bins are emptied Wednesday when lo and behold a bin truck pulls up and he gets out and empties his bins.

I can count the bins he has with my own eyes.

Your mum won't want you to get involved. Leave it alone.

IndiGlowie · 24/10/2022 12:55

Oh come on it's just a perk of the job .

GasPanic · 24/10/2022 12:58

Why does he generate so much rubbish ?

That's the question you've really got to ask.

Mardyface · 24/10/2022 12:59

I can't believe you're allowing this to wind you up? Surely he'd help your mum out if she asked him? Is this some kind of weird analogy for the Tory government and their corrupt ways?

Is this meant to be sarcastic because surely you recognise that there is a pretty significant line between finding a perk of your job and fucking murder Confused

An extra bin collection truly is a gateway crime 🤣🤣

dawnfromgavinandstacey · 24/10/2022 13:03

I just couldn't be arsed. It's a perk of the job surely.

bigbluebus · 24/10/2022 13:03

In the great scheme of things I'd complain about this most definitely wouldn't be one of them. But crack on with reporting him if it bothers you - you probably give Customer Services at the Council a good laugh.
You don't get many any perks working for the Council so if he's managed to find one then good for him. I'd be intrigued as to how he's generating so much rubbish though.

yerdaindicatesonbends · 24/10/2022 13:04

Really couldn’t fathom getting worked up about this. I used to have a neighbour who was a bin man and he would put all of his bins out sometimes on general waste day. And do you know what I would think… ‘fair play’.

Berthatydfil · 24/10/2022 13:05

My local council has a phone line and web Page for reporting complaints and compliments. If the Council has something similar could consider making a report, not giving your name but just saying I live in X Street why are the bin lorries coming round on Monday when our usual bin day is whatever day ? Why do they come to collect Mr X bins who lives at number X ? I also know he works for the council as a bin man.
