Mums next door neighbour is a piss taker - should I report him (bin related)

So, her next door neighbour works for the council - bin man.

Not only doe he have 3 of each bin (rubbish and recycling) I've just discovered he happily diverts a bin motor his way when they get full. Its not bin day until Wednesday but he's just had his excessive overflowing bins emptied.

I don't live here - live the other end of the country. But it pisses me off. When I live we've just got to three weekly collections and issues with smaller bins.

They already have much larger bins and three of them.

Mother says its just a perk of the job, personally if it was me I'd report him just because I can and I don't see why he should get away with it.

I agree with you OP. It’s not supposed to be a perk of the job. Bin men in my area earn an average of £30k according to glass door. It’s more than many nurses earn, not minimum wage or anything. I’m not saying their job is delightful btw! I’m grateful for the service they provide and that I pay for via council tax.

If he needs extra collections and extra bins it could be due to a disability in the family, such as adult incontinence etc, so an extra bin could be legit.

However three doesn’t seem legit, more At It. Or perhaps running a business from home for backhanders to dump others excess rubbish or something.

We all pay council tax and should get the same service.

Well the OP's mother and local area can look forward to zero bin collections for their council tax when a whole shift of refuse collectors get the boot because the OP reports them for picking up a couple extra bins.

Report him OP

Sorry, but that's one of the worst memes I've ever seen! Grin

The low res, the unrecognisable man, the unidentifiable quote!

It made me laugh, thanks Grin

Our council lets you have as many recyclers as you can fill but they do check them.
maybe the rules are different there.
our bin lorries have GPS tracking too so they likely know exactly what he's doing.

I've worked as a supervisor in refuse disposal and we knew where every lorry was at any time. Veering off the route like you indicate would have been noticed immediately. Occasionally if bins have been missed it will be possible that a lorry goes slightly off route and this will be agreed in advance. People are given larger bins if they have particular circumstances ie: if there's an increased need for disposal of incontinence products etc.He may have these sort of circumstances.
Most of these workers are on a living wage and try their best.Local authority investigations are lengthy and tortuous so I wouldn't report him.

Because I'm in her house staying here for the week and the bins are emptied Wednesday when lo and behold a bin truck pulls up and he gets out and empties his bins.

I can count the bins he has with my own eyes.

Yes I would report. It's poor use of resources for a start! The rules apply to everyone!

I think I’d want some kind of job perk if too if I was a bin man! Let them be
