Mums next door neighbour is a piss taker - should I report him (bin related)

So, her next door neighbour works for the council - bin man.

Not only doe he have 3 of each bin (rubbish and recycling) I've just discovered he happily diverts a bin motor his way when they get full. Its not bin day until Wednesday but he's just had his excessive overflowing bins emptied.

I don't live here - live the other end of the country. But it pisses me off. When I live we've just got to three weekly collections and issues with smaller bins.

They already have much larger bins and three of them.

Mother says its just a perk of the job, personally if it was me I'd report him just because I can and I don't see why he should get away with it.

Is he the street's Robin Hood aka Rubbish Hood? Maybe he collects rubbish from families for whom 1 x bin collection every 3 weeks isn't enough? (I'm assuming the other 2 bins are for recycling).

CottonSock · 24/10/2022 14:06

If she's nice to him maybe he'll empty hers too.
Keep out of it

Because I'm in her house staying here for the week and the bins are emptied Wednesday when lo and behold a bin truck pulls up and he gets out and empties his bins.

I can count the bins he has with my own eyes.

SO WHAT if he gets his full bin emptied by his mates. why do you care?!

wildthingsinthenight · 24/10/2022 14:09

He is your mum's neighbour and she is unbothered by it. Stay out of it!
Good grief.
If this is all you have to worry about in your life then you are lucky!

Seriously... put your energies into something worthwhile 🙄

wildthingsinthenight · 24/10/2022 14:12

Just have a re read of your post OP.
Then get it deleted. You should be embarrassed!

This is what I would do!

pairofrollerskates · 24/10/2022 14:27

There are very few perks attached to being a bin man. Leave the poor guy alone.

pictish · 24/10/2022 14:27

Why do you want to report him? Because he’s getting something you’re not?
Because you enjoy reporting people? Why?

And??

OoooohMatron · 24/10/2022 14:30

So what? You sound like a sad little Petty Betty to me.

TinaYouFatLard · 24/10/2022 14:32

Jesus. Do you fancy being a bin man? Be grateful that there are people who are willing to do a job most turn their nose up at and mind your own bloody business.

Cinnabomb · 24/10/2022 14:32

Wish our council Would give us bins! We just had to buy a new one as the bin men broke it and they didn’t even give us a new bin! It was clearly used and turned up
filthy with other peoples dirt and stunk! 😡

LuckyLil · 24/10/2022 14:34

You're lucky. Our local dustman used to dump his rubbish in our bins on his way home from work if we were having a collection the next day. Until he got sacked for fly tipping anyway....

LondonQueen · 24/10/2022 14:35

With my local council you can have up to 3 of each bin. He is probably doing nothing wrong. Mind your own business.

ShaunaTheSheep · 24/10/2022 14:39

If you report it he will be investigated by his employer, which will either be a contractor working for the council, or the council direct. Either way, if found to be true he will be at risk of being fired for gross misconduct.

So I suggest that you take this into consideration when deciding what to do.

JustOrderADoor · 24/10/2022 12:46

WTAF??

what IS your problem?? What happens where you are is entirely irrelevant.

it's your MUMS neighbour, not yours, and she doesn't have a problem with it & why would she? Him having more bins doesn't affect her in any way!

Lots of people get perks of the job and frankly a bin man getting these perks, is the least he deserves! Not many could do the job. So what if he has extra bins & they get emptied more iften

FFS get yourself a life.

This. Do you really have nothing better to focus on? How petty of you. Its quite frankly embarrassing

tunthebloodyalarmoff · 24/10/2022 14:51

Do you not get out much. Why don't you mind your own business how is this hurting you and you you could potentially cause a lot of trouble for your mum. Don't be a dick

Vegetablesupreme · 24/10/2022 14:52

By reporting you could get the poor man sacked. Is it really worth it? It doesn't effect you or your mum so why do something so petty?

tunthebloodyalarmoff · 24/10/2022 14:52

So what

MichelleScarn · 24/10/2022 14:57

Well since you don't pay council tax to your mums local authority @op I sincerely hope you are not putting any of your own rubbish in your mum's bins while staying? Take it home or who knows the slippery slope you'll end up on?! 🤯

longtompot · 24/10/2022 15:09

My neighbour is a bin collector and also does not only this but he quite often also empties our other neighbours bins! Outrageous!
It doesn't bother us, other than I wish he emptied ours😉

Intheflicker · 24/10/2022 15:25

Clearly this bin crime is the gateway to Britain becoming a failed state, the laughing stock of Europe, and having a tanked economy...

HarrysChild · 24/10/2022 15:32

bloody hell OP, I can’t imagine there are many perks associated with being a refuse collector, how mean spirited to begrudge this - leave them be and mind your own business

GodInventedAmazon · 24/10/2022 15:35

Don't report him , it's mean spirited for something so small

ewwness · 24/10/2022 15:36

Elieza · 24/10/2022 13:54

I agree with you OP. It’s not supposed to be a perk of the job. Bin men in my area earn an average of £30k according to glass door. It’s more than many nurses earn, not minimum wage or anything. I’m not saying their job is delightful btw! I’m grateful for the service they provide and that I pay for via council tax.

If he needs extra collections and extra bins it could be due to a disability in the family, such as adult incontinence etc, so an extra bin could be legit.

However three doesn’t seem legit, more At It. Or perhaps running a business from home for backhanders to dump others excess rubbish or something.

We all pay council tax and should get the same service.

£30k??? I bloody wish. DH is on £18k
