Went out with my friend on Saturday night.
Got to the end of the night and we went to pizza shop for food.
I said i only want garlic and chips which was £3.50
She was saying "ok we will share,il get things too"
I said "I only want garlic and chips as im not massively hungry tho"
She was very drunk and kept going on and on
She got to pizza shop and she was ordering all kinds
I gave her £5 and didn't bother asking for change
She ordered Kebab a pizza and my garlic and chips
It came to over £20
The next day she texts "hi just checked my bank statement I paid £20 in pizza shop but I only have £5 in my purse ? Did we go half's?"
I said no I only wanted garlic and chips but gave you £5

Anyway she went on and on saying I should have gave her £10 as it was food for both of us (I told her I didn't want any)
Now she's saying she can't waste that much money and asking for a extra £5

What do I do? It's only £5 do I just pay it?

Never mind what it is, why is everyone saying garlic and chips or garlic sauce and chips, or garlic mayo and chips? This implies the garlic is the main part of the dish and the chips the side or add on. It's so weird. You wouldn't say chips and fish?

OP, tell her to fuck off.

Actually some people DO say chips & fish - & that's regional too.

In shocking news - sometimes people do & say things differently from you.

rookiemere · 24/10/2022 13:14

If you want to keep her as a friend, I'd use a bit of humour, but I'd absolutely not be paying an extra £5 so £6.50 in total for food I did not eat.

"Lol friend how drunk were you last night. I can assure you I didn't touch your pizza or kebab . The only thing I ate was the chips which cost £3.50 so really you owe me £1.50, but I'll let you off.
See you soon - let's make it a quiet one next time with no takeaway Grin!"

cassiatwenty · 24/10/2022 13:16

@RonSwansonsChair Agreed! OP, you must update us, this is turning out to be more interesting than expected

I normally just get my own food but she wouldn't listen and ordered the garlic and chips so that's when I gave her the £5
She was that drunk you couldn't get sense out of her -all I wanted to do was get some chips and jump in the taxi
I was cold and tired and just gave her the £5

If she was that drunk she wouldn’t have remembered that you ate together or that didn’t have any money in her purse.

She’s trying it on, OP.

This.

No way would I let some drunk greedyguts bully me into funding their booze/fat addiction.

Reply, 'actually you owe me £1.50'

Definitely this! 😆😆😆Let us know how it goes!

Your friend is just so petty...

Flyinggeesei234 · 24/10/2022 13:31

Garlic and chips sounds like absolute filth and I really want it.

CharChar91 · 24/10/2022 13:31

"sorry but I specifically said to you I just wanted garlic and chips because that's all I'd got the money for, I did say but you were so drunk you we're ordering loads! Hope your head doesn't hurt like mine does today! See you soon xx"

OriginalUsername3 · 24/10/2022 13:34

Did she eat any of your chips aswell ad her own food?

Blacksheepcat · 24/10/2022 13:34

She owes you £1.50

ChaosDemon · 24/10/2022 13:36

Wheres the food now? Surely she can just eat all the leftovers, or has she done something I've done when very drunk and eaten it all and doesn't remember Grin

cheeeryybaby · 24/10/2022 13:38

She ate the lot.
I just said I barely ate anything and she has just laughed it off now
Maybe she's realised she was being a bit cheeky
But yes garlic and chips is lovely
Tastes better tipsy ha ha

This is perfect.

And more mature than "fuck off you dozy bitch & bring me some garlic chips while you're at it."

Gloryofthe80s · 24/10/2022 13:43

I’d be inclined to ask her for the £1.50 she owes you. If she ate any of your chips I’d be asking for more. 😁

LimeTwists · 24/10/2022 13:44

She’s being totally unreasonable. Just repeat: you ordered the extra food for yourself - I didn’t touch any of it and didn’t ask you to order it. Not sure why I’m being asked to pay when I’ve already paid you for more than I actually owe.

She’s asking you to pay for her pissed decisions, the CF.

PoshHorseyBird · 24/10/2022 14:01

I'd just message back and say 'actually my order came to £3.50 and I gave you £5 so if you want to be pedantic you owe me £1.50!' Not your problem she was so off her face she can't remember what she bought!

LooneyToon · 24/10/2022 14:19

So you let your drunk friend order a pizza and a kebab for herself and spend all that money on food that would obviously go in the bin.. yabu

‘Let’? Her friend is a grown adult, OP isn’t her mummy whose job it is not to tell her not to blow all her pocket money. I’m guessing you don’t have much experience of a drunk person in a kebab shop after a night out…

She's likely remembered more of the evening now and is rather embarrassed!

Musti · 24/10/2022 14:33

Tell her she was pissed and you kept telling her that that is all you wanted and you couldn’t even finish what you ordered. You have more than your fair share. If she can’t afford it she shouldn’t get so pissed.

She’s probably realised she feels very full and it has come back to her about how much food she put away last night.

cheeeryybaby · 24/10/2022 14:40

@LooneyToon I'm not her mother,I can't control what she eats.
I make sure she gets home safe ...I can't stop her buying food from the pizza shop

OP posts:
RosetteNebula · 24/10/2022 14:45

She's a CF. I wouldn't even want to go out with her again. She'd happily have accepted the money off you even though she knows you didn't want it and she scarfed the lot herself.

How do you propose you stop a drink friend, who seems insistent on ordered food? The OP isn't her mum, she can't remove her friend's bank card, she can't physically restrain her. Friend needs to face up and take responsibility.
