Friend A - long term relationship, married baby on the way

Friend B - was single for 7 years (not through choice) and has suffered badly with depressing. Is now in a very happy relationship of one year.

We met for lunch today and afterwards friend A messaged friend B saying how lovely it was to see her and that she seemed glowing with happiness and it’s lovely.

Friend B has screenshot the message, sent it to me and she is FURIOUS. Said friend A was being a smug, patronising bitch. I don’t really know what to say.

YANBU - friend A was trying to be nice

YABU - friend A was being smug and patronising

Person B sounds batsh*t! Like PP said if she's that much hard work after a compliment, no wonder she was single for so long.

@whoisBUherehelp I missed where you referenced luck in relation to fertility but the rest of my comment still stands.

You both sound like jealous horrible friends. It's not her 'fault' she's fertile & you should be happy for her, not critical. She made a supportive comment. The reason the comment is seen as patronising is coming from a position of jealousy. If B actually were happy, I doubt she'd be bothered by the comment at all & would likely take it in the spirit it was meant!
