I've come across this a lot and given some thought to it.

When it comes to a paedophile going to prison, they're always at very high risk from other prisoners.

These prisoners could be the most violent murders etc yet they will Jo stand for sexual offences against children.

To me, crimes against children are the absolute worst.

AIBU to somewhat admire these prisoners for their intolerance to this sort of thing?

I don't think you're wrong for wanting justice to be served for paedophiles. We have always had public executions and other executions. We are only baby steps away from them. It's completely normal to want the man who raped you or your child to be violently beaten to death. If you were physically able to (but you're not because you're a vulnerable child, that's why they picked you) you would have been able to do that yourself, enough to run away or defend yourself.

I think the prisoners who do kill paedophiles are using their special ability (I know, I know) to serve the justice that society won't serve.

If you fucking hurt children like that yoh deserve all you can get. Wasn't Jeffrey Dahmer killed in prison? Wasn't Jon venebles given a series of different identities because he keeps commiting crimes and outing himself? Would it be better of he had been killed too? what about the potential victims?

Also rapists and paedoohiles get such fucking short sentences, or they are let go. let them die I say.

I don't admire them no because any decent person would not tolerate them. What you have with inmates (and I used to know one very well and heard a lot about this) is oftentimes prison doesn't phase them at all. The ones who are in and out, so know people in them, and the ones who are in there long-term, moved around, so again know many people inside, they know the system and the threat of more time seldom phases them either because they expect to either be in there a long time anyway or be back at some point. So they use this unique position (I can't go around bashing up paedophiles because I don't want to go to prison) to kick the crap of “wronguns” including rapists but yes, paedophiles will get the worst treatment. But it's not some altruistic love of children, it's the fact that they want to have fights wherever they can, they enjoy it. They're angry bitter people who want to take their anger out. Great that they take it out on those people (although I'm still an idealist and believe all prisoners should be treated with respect, otherwise we aren't a civilised society) but at the same time if a paedophile gets his head kicked in I can't feel much besides joy.

So yes I'm glad they get this treatment but no I don't admire inmates for doing what they would do anyway just directed at the right people.

And how did society let that happen?
by letting sex offenders go free or get a slap on the wrist?

Think about what you’re saying. You admire murderers, for being violent no less. That’s twisted.

YABU. And weird.

A child sex offender is easy prey. Nobody likes a child sex offender, so they all group together and target them. I'd say it's more collectively following the actions of other inmates. Plus sex offenders are probably part of the minority population in prisons, so are seen as 'not one of them' and will stand out - as you say most other offenders will have done murders or shared other similar crimes, so they won't target other inmates similar to them.

If you worked in that prison and had to prevent this behaviour you may well think twice!!

Meh anyone who gets sent to prison for a violent or sexual offence is just scum. Its sad if its because of some childhood trauma but that's not their victims fault, there is always a choice.

I have worked in a number of forensic settings, mainly mental health but prisons too.

Criminals will always try to form some kind of hierarchy based on what you are in for, peados at the bottom, serious armed robbers type at the top.

It's a crock of shit designed to make criminals feel better about their crimes. They always deflect and minimise their crimes.

High profile inmates like Huntley will always get targeted, but there are loads under the radar. Prisoners often change their name so it's harder for the rest of the prison population to find out what they are in for.

If you are soft the other prisoners will identify it and target you, hard nuts don't get picked on much no matter what they are in for.

Most sex offenders stand out a mile. Mind some of the most vociferous with their hatred of peados were in for that very same crime, just trying to hide and deflect.
