To have expected it to last longer?

Had shark cordless hoover for 2.5 years. Looked after it and maintained it really well. Not a particularly heavy duty house, myself and one pet. It's started cutting out now. At 280 quid AIBU to have expected it to last longer?

If you want something long lasting then look at what cleaners use. I’ve abused all my Henry’s for decades and they’re all still running and fantastic. They’ve tumbled down stairs, been crashed in a van and fared better than the transit itself, they’ve sooked up all kinds of manky filth from some right hovels and every one of them still smiling sooking up metal shavings or crack den filth. The older the numatic the better imo

Agree with PP - my Henry is indestructible even outlasted my marriage 😂 I can't bear to part with him so he lives in the garage for the next time the dyson breaks which will probably be next week

I wish Henry did a cordless version 😭

MatildaTheCat · 15/10/2022 18:59

Are you sure it’s not blocked? My cordless Dyson stutters when there’s a blockage. It’s quite satisfying to take it to bits and find the culprit.

controlyourfuckingmutt · 15/10/2022 19:02

YANBU. They are badly designed, constantly overheat and have poor battery life. Agree with pps, Henrys are the best.

Whitepouringglue · 15/10/2022 19:06

That is not what I expected this thread to be about.

TheWitchersWife · 15/10/2022 19:06

I replaced my Dyson Cordless with a Hetty this week.
The Dyson was cutting out in less than a minute as the battery was just finished.
I've knocked Hetty over and got her caught on a few things as it's been 5 years without something dragging behind me.
But I've definitely made the right decision. The suction is amazing.

yoshiblue · 15/10/2022 19:08

We have a SEBO, again what cleaners in hotels use. I think we've had it 15 years now and it's still performing really well. I get it serviced every few years too.

It's plug in and bloody heavy though 🤣

primeoflife · 15/10/2022 19:11

Our shark was crap.

Left loads of stuff around, just shifted the dust. Got sent a replacement but that was also crap!

We now have a Henry and love it!!

Whistlesandbell · 15/10/2022 19:12

I thought it was going to be a sex thread!

1FootInTheRave · 15/10/2022 19:13

Heard rubbish things about Shark.

Intensely dislike my dyson too.

I want a roomba, but one that goes about 40mph.

Blizzardbeach · 15/10/2022 19:16

Contact their customer service. Your shark dhould have a 5hear guarantee.
They can video chat with you, and see what problems you're having and diagnose the issue.
They sent me a new motor that arrived the next day.

Yes definitely call them, my main motor part has been replaced free of charge twice.

Their customer service is great!

OhAmBackAgain · 15/10/2022 19:22

had a shark it was shit it couldn't cope with more than dust and blocked in seconds everytime, so after 2 months bought a Henry been going strong for 3 years now.

For me the Shark = ,bloody expensive mistake

KentishWay · 15/10/2022 19:24

I hated my Henry. It was the worst hoover I ever bought. The tube kept popping off and it was a nightmare to get back on and the stupid thing kept toppling over. I'll stick with Miele.

Lougle · 15/10/2022 19:25

Shark answer the phone 7 days per week. They'll video call you, diagnose it and either repair or replace it.

MyCatsSlave · 15/10/2022 19:25

So disappointed that this thread is about vacuum cleaners 😂

MatLeave · 15/10/2022 19:28

Contact Shark customer service. My corded Shark stopped picking up last month and as the didn't have the replacement part sent me a new Shark once I'd sent my old one to them.

Leakingroofagain · 15/10/2022 19:28

I love our shark but it's a corded upright, it's so much better than all the dysons we've had. I don't think I could use a Henry, I prefer uprights rather than grovelling with my back hunched over trying to push a nozzle along the floor.

Plantmum2047 · 15/10/2022 19:30

Thanks everto

Thanks everyone. I really don't want corded, having had cordless it's miles easier on my back injury. I'll try contacting shark but my email says a 2 year warranty and I've had in 2.5 years. Coincidence? I think not! I just think something that costs so much money should last longer.

They have just released one, reviews haven't been great though

Annoyed200722 · 15/10/2022 19:40

Our Miele died recently at a similar age. We've replaced it with a Henry!

Spanielsarepainless · 15/10/2022 19:41

My brother's Shark stopped working just out of warranty, he contacted Shark and they sent the replacement part.

Better than Beko. When my dishwasher failed a couple of weeks out of warranty they couldn't be arsed to even respond to my email.

EscapeRoomToTheSun · 15/10/2022 19:43

I believed the hype and got a shark mini and honestly it was shit.

AlisonDonut · 15/10/2022 19:43

I've brought many back from the dead by giving them a really good clean out. Sometimes they cut out because there is a blockage which stops them working properly.
