To have expected it to last longer?

Had shark cordless hoover for 2.5 years. Looked after it and maintained it really well. Not a particularly heavy duty house, myself and one pet. It's started cutting out now. At 280 quid AIBU to have expected it to last longer?

It’s probably blocked. Or filter needs cleaning. My friend has taken 2 back and got them replaced. She mentioned a 5yr warranty, but not sure if that’s for all of them, assume so

I hated my Henry. It was the worst hoover I ever bought. The tube kept popping off and it was a nightmare to get back on and the stupid thing kept toppling over. I'll stick with Miele.

What were you doing with him? How on earth does a Henry topple over... did you put him up on bricks or stilts.

Mine has never fallen over and hasn't the ability to fall over, he's too round and squat. Never had an issue with the tube popping off and we use him with the fur brush thing and without, with longer tube and shorter... he is generally fairly abused and seems to thrive on it.

Suspect your vacuuming technique is... dodgy.

Same 😂

@Plantmum2047 I have had my Miele for 24 years … it’s great

Livelovebehappy · 15/10/2022 20:10

My dyson cordless vac started cutting out last month. It was the battery. Dyson replaces it free if you’ve purchased it within the last two years, and I have had it 18 months, so got it free. Does Shark do similar? Check on the battery warranty.

Reebokclassics · 15/10/2022 20:12

Cleaner here. Top end sharks are good, cordless ones not great. Henrys and Hettys are by far the best and have the most longevity.

🤣🤣me either!!

TroysMammy · 15/10/2022 20:17

I've had my miele since 1993. The cord doesn't retract but that was my fault.
I don't do much hoovering either.

itsgettingweird · 15/10/2022 20:23

I've had my Henry for about a decade.

If it does I'm replacing like for like as they still seem to be the best with regards shelf life.

I thought it was going to be a sex thread!

So do I Grin

whirlyhead · 15/10/2022 20:36

My Miele lasted 2 years then blew up. I was not impressed. My hetty has now been happily trucking along for a good 10 years but she is heavy! My cleaner likes her though.

Happyhappyday · 15/10/2022 20:50

What’s wrong with it? I was really fucked off because our Dyson seemed like it had packed it in after 3 years (also cordless, 4 story house so corded just not doable!) and it turned out the filter had just plugged up, a quick rinse and the Hoover is fine.

TheChosenTwo · 15/10/2022 21:09

We bought one of the cordless dysons to replace the smug barrel shaped bastard that was Henry. It has its pros for sure but my god it’s needy. Something that’s marketed as making your life easier shouldn’t make you have to work so bloody hard for it. We’ve had multiple replacement batteries, now have a collection of filters and whatever the back section is (another filter?!), new heads, Jesus Christ it’s just so fucking attention seeking.

JRHartly · 15/10/2022 21:16

YANBU, that is shit. DH bought a £20 upright corded vacuum cleaner in 2014, it’s still
going strong now. The suction on it is a thing to behold.

mrsbyers · 15/10/2022 21:17

Sounds like it just needs taking apart and a good clean

Agree with PP - my Henry is indestructible even outlasted my marriage 😂 I can't bear to part with him so he lives in the garage for the next time the dyson breaks which will probably be next week

I wish Henry did a cordless version 😭

Henry DO do a cordless version! It's called Henry Quick www.myhenry.com/henryquick

Mine used to topple over too 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m not sad enough to analyse my “hoovering technique” but Henry is a smug faced cunt. And a shit Hoover. The “sucking” part is about an inch wide, it takes fucking forever to do a proper hoover with it.

Whitepouringglue · 15/10/2022 21:55

They do!

Not sure how good it is as don't own one.

Hugasauras · 15/10/2022 21:57

I love our Henry but he does like to topple occasionally when I take a corner too fast (high-speed hoovering).

Our Shark cordless works well enough on carpet but it's shite on hard floors. Henry is a gem but he's heavy and tricky for the stairs. But he's 10 years old now and still going strong.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 15/10/2022 22:00

I bought a cordless shark about 4 years ago. It's shite, constantly blocking. So I bought the lift away, also shite

I'll be buying a Henry next time

Lucky you, my first one broke at 9 months. Got a replacement foc. Over the next year had two more replacements. It recently got accidentally damaged and thankfully we claimed for it on the house insurance so I could finally be free. We have a Henry again. So much better.

autienotnaughty · 15/10/2022 22:28

Tbf their customer service is great. If you took the extended warranty you will still be covered

Apologies to all that thought it would be a more juicy thread 😂🙈 I probably need to think about my titles... Totally unintentional!!
I've taken it apart and cleaned it so I will add contacting shark to my every growing to-do list 😁🤦🏻‍♀️
