Just watched Liz Truss and she didn't answer 1 bloody question properly she kept repeating the same sentences .

OP posts:

She was a bit desperate yesterday.
Sad.

Trying to find somebody who might not try to eat her alive. It was hilarious. I can't stop watching it!

It just made me think of a panto with her female lead looking for her prince.

mathanxiety · 15/10/2022 15:43

Markets think differently, @Kellie45.

Sadly for Truss and her fellow delusional ideologues, the UK does not exist in a special little bubble all unto itself.

SerendipityJane · 15/10/2022 17:12

Iraq had comical Ali, we have comical Kellie.

Mr Hunt has one of those ' I know best ' smug faces that I don't find that reassuring
He now wants further cuts and it looks bleak all round.
He might get away with it, but it's disappointing that after all this time we don't feel any further forwards.

Except when it comes to inquests on how the Scottish government proceeded with the prosecution of Alex salmon against their own lawyers advice. Or answering questions about ferries. Or women.

Well said. I honestly think NS knows nothing about economics. All she has is anti Tory rhetoric and indepeeeeeeeeeeeence!

@Kellie45 Nope, sorry wild borrowing to fund tax cuts and vague shitting on about "supply side reforms" is not a package for growth - hence why they refused to let the OBR assess the mini budget - I would also surmise that the initial work the OBR have started is appalling hence Truss realising her economic policies are doomed.

sorry it was a package for growth albeit badly presented and poor on its reception. After yesterday’s U-turn, wages will be lower, pensions will be smaller, and prices will be higher than they otherwise would have been. The Left has won and we will go back to being a low growth economy. Chance lost!

SerendipityJane · 15/10/2022 18:03

The Left has won

I refer readers to my previous analysis.

Haha, what chance....it hasn't worked and that is with disguised public service cuts. Five and a half million of more cuts to children’s services in my local authority.

Hmm, very big unfunded tax cuts for very rich people that can send their money anywhere. The "Marxists" of the bond markets and global forex dealers and their ilk who you would have thought would have been first in the queue for this somehow think different. Funny that - they called incompetent idiots and it was the right call.

Sadly we have now to admit the obvious - the Blob has won. The small state; low tax; high growth vision that won Truss the party leadership – shared by so many Conservative party supporters – is now dead, perhaps for a generation. High tax, low growth and higher prices (even more so if Labour get in) is now the agenda. Not what anyone wants apart from the elite in the corridors of power on the Right and Left.

vera99 · 15/10/2022 19:17

The "blob" or the evolved civilised structures of democratic western democracies. These are loaded populist Trumpian terms. If Truss has any competency she would fight her position but she has folded totally at the first whiff of cordite. She is patently unsuitable for high office and should go and if the Tories had a shred of decency left they would fold and declare a general election and let the people decide.

Hallelujah.

Good. Let's bury it with in an iron coffin with a stake through its heart. May it never return.

WatchoRulo · 16/10/2022 16:18

Can you show your working out? Because so far 12 years of Conservative government have been fucking expensive for all of us except the very wealthy.

Over-promotion. Remember a friend complaining about an incompetent colleague 'and she's just been offered promotion'! Truss is prime example of 'can't sack them, only way to get them out of this department is to promote them and inflict them on someone else'. Look where it can take you eventually😖

Found out from Curb Your Enthusiasm that the term is ‘foisting’. People in my org do this from time to time so you have to really do due diligence when someone’s recommended to you from another dept.

newnamethanks · 16/10/2022 16:38

Ah, thank you Endlesssummer2022, that's a very useful term. And if anyone's been foisted on us, the general voting public, it's Liz and her devious cabal of acolytes and sycophants. Great example, Therese Coffey, Minister for Health, as ignorant as any of us. She has 'spare' antibiotics she hands out to friends. Who cares about antibiotic resistance? Not us, we're in charge here. Grrrr. They're so bloody uncaring and ignorant.
