Just watched Liz Truss and she didn't answer 1 bloody question properly she kept repeating the same sentences .

OP posts:
vera99 · 15/10/2022 09:29

Ken Dodd used to sing about that ... "Hap penis , hap penis it's the only argument that I possess"

user278654 · 15/10/2022 09:35

I think she needs to book a removal van! Theresa May was bad enough destroying the Police Service but Liz Truss is worse beyond words. An 8 minute press conference, it appeared a very poor performance. A general election is the only way for the country to decide. Larry the cat could do a better job!

Zilla1 · 15/10/2022 09:39

'politicians never answer questions' - Some politicians are better are seeming to answer a question or intelligently see where the landmines are and navigate around them. Gove sometimes and Hunt on R4 Today today are examples. The issue here is that she is on such rocky ground with her MPs that every appalling performance leads to existential thoughts by the people she needs.

vera99 · 15/10/2022 09:49

Hunt was on LBC this morning - whilst not a fan - he can talk a good talk and has reasonable arguments. It makes me sad how much we have lost post-Brexit of a rational discourse amongst our leaders who surprisingly we want to lead.

Oh joy. The penis brigade are out again. We're talking about Truss causing financial havoc and being entirely unfit for office. Whether anybody has a penis or not is entirely irrelevant.

It is impossible to discuss Liz Truss without another cock up.

Does anyone actually know why she was elected?

jetadore · 15/10/2022 10:41

Does anyone actually know why she was elected?

She kissed enough arses and promised to look after enough rich people’s private interests to get ‘elected’ as party leader.
She was also elected as an MP in a safe seat where they’d vote for a dog turd if it had a blue rosette on it.
She reminds me of some of the shit, overpromoted middle managers I’ve come across in my career. Completely incompetent but deluded by her status, Dunning-Kruger effect in action.

newnamethanks · 15/10/2022 10:48

Over-promotion. Remember a friend complaining about an incompetent colleague 'and she's just been offered promotion'! Truss is prime example of 'can't sack them, only way to get them out of this department is to promote them and inflict them on someone else'. Look where it can take you eventually😖

AssignedSlytherinAtBirth · 15/10/2022 10:48

Maybe she was elected because she was/is easy to influence. Article in the Guardian last Saturday saying that bankers and hedge-fund managers bankrolled her campaign. So hence the mystery of the 1p off top tax and cap removed from bankers' bonuses, seemingly out of the blue. Similar story with Boris, basically taking bribes. I'm sorry to say it but she is corrupt. But I don't like any of the others any more than in do her. Maybe Rishi.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/10/2022 12:50

@SerendipityJane Well played!

She is reported to be worth £12 million - she got to have the top job even if only for a brief time and after office she will easily get to double or triple her money. She might even have an after-dinner "oops I shrunk the kids" schtick and develop some 'appeal'. She's 'won' now, whatever happens, is just a shame all the rest of us have to lose and keep losing as they bring our country down.

the80sweregreat · 15/10/2022 14:00

We've all been gaslighted big time by this bunch . She signed off the fiscal budget , then passed the buck when people didn't like it and fired her friend ! She has the morals and ethics of a nat.

RedAppleGirl · 15/10/2022 14:02

DesMoulinsRouge · 14/10/2022 15:06

She just keeps banging on about how she's helping with energy bills. Small comfort with what has happened to bloody mortgages.

What would you like to see the government do about mortgages?

the80sweregreat · 15/10/2022 14:07

The interest rates went up because of the fiscal event ! Just as predicted by Rishi Sunak in August.

Zilla1 · 15/10/2022 14:11

Elected by echoing the prejudices of the conservative base - 'workers are lazy even if economically it's the wrong perspective about UK plc.

What do about mortgages - perhaps not blithely make a bunch of decisions that lead to the markets anticipating higher interest rates than previously, mortgage providers to reflect those in their mortgage offers and which require, amongst other things the BoE to raise those rates more than they otherwise would have to. In the car, if someone is applying a brake and someone is borrowing billions to weigh on the accelerator, the brake person is predicted to press the brake harder'.

DesMoulinsRouge · 15/10/2022 14:22

RedAppleGirl · 15/10/2022 14:02

I would have liked them not to be so bloody irresponsible and caused all this uncertainty. Then the rates wouldn't have gone up.
They were told exactly what would happen and it happened. So now whatever she has done to help with fuel mortgages are going up.

MissyB1 · 15/10/2022 14:24

RedAppleGirl · 15/10/2022 14:02

What would you like to see the government do about mortgages?

I would like them not to have caused interest rates to go up with their disastrously insane mini budget.

Zebedee55 · 15/10/2022 14:27

She's hopeless, and it's not going to improve anytime soon.

Hunt was talking about people having to pay higher taxes, cuts to public spending, now including the previously exempt health and defence budgets, , and more difficult times arriving. He refused to commit to raising benefits with the cost of living.

On top of that, the BofE have virtually confirmed that interest rates will rise again in November. The only query is by how much.

We need a GE to try and sort this mess out, not a never ending Tory Game of Thrones.🙄

the80sweregreat · 15/10/2022 14:38

Austerity , I just hope that people reject it because last time we just sucked it up and this time it's just too depressing to even think about, but they will sell it as the answer to paying back the debts and covid and the war and everything apart from their own incompetence

Lorrymum · 15/10/2022 14:48

She reminds me of a Thunderbirds puppet. The terrifying thing is that she had disaster written all over her. Unelected and totally unelectable.

“Asked if a woman can have a penis, Starmer said: 'I'm not... I don't think we can conduct this debate with... I don't think that discussing this issue in this way helps anyone in the long run.'”

At least he didn't reference his plan for fuel prices.

ancientgran · 15/10/2022 14:55

I didn't understand the exaggerated puzzled look as she tried to find someone to ask a question. The room was full of journalists, what was she actually doing?

Trying to find somebody who might not try to eat her alive. It was hilarious. I can't stop watching it!
