Am I being unreasonable in being really angry at over grown children crapping on our shared history and cultural achievements, and the creation of one if the most famous works out art, from a tortured soul who still could express himself like this.

I genuinely think they'll turn more people off their cause than get them on board.

YANBU but there will be plenty on here trying to justify this on the basis of the existential threat - they would justify just about anything.

PurpleWisteria · 14/10/2022 12:27

They really are dreadful people. Giggling like naughty children when they stopped an emergency ambulance.

They are in it for their own egos. Nothing else.

KangarooKenny · 14/10/2022 12:28

It’s disgusting. All this damage and disruption needs stopping.

OneTC · 14/10/2022 12:29

Happy enough to see them glued to roads or whatever but shit like this can jtfo

Abei · 14/10/2022 12:30

They're fucking arseholes. And their message will do their cause no favours. They should be prosecuted for this. They probably will be since the law was tightened up following Bristol.

Abei · 14/10/2022 12:31

I'm happy to leave them glued to the road. See how that works for them.

FannyCann · 14/10/2022 12:31

I bet they expect their Mums and Dads to chauffeur them home from late parties. Probably in a Range Rover.

It's time they had the short sharp shock of a spell in prison. I'm sick of them.

DismantledKing · 14/10/2022 12:32

Horrible little shits.

ArcaneWireless · 14/10/2022 12:32

Agreed wisteria

This is not for the cause but for themselves.

CrushedPistachios · 14/10/2022 12:34

Yeah, in general I do support the cause of needing to review climate change policies, but their methods are very antagonistic and definitely alienate a core of the public who are generally favourable.

octopusrus · 14/10/2022 12:34

If I'd have seen them doing it I don't think I could have stopped myself slapping them both.

How can they possibly think this type of thing can help their cause?

SunflowerOrange · 14/10/2022 12:34

Not the same but recently when they were glueing themselves to the road there were local councillors among them. That made me wonder about their role politically.

Bakingdiva · 14/10/2022 12:35

What gets me is that they are wanging on about waste, but they are throwing good food, that could be donated to a food bank, onto a picture - irony much!

The one that really made my blood boil was the activists emptying bottle after bottle of milk on the floor in F&M & Harrods, they even emptied them over a stand full of cheese. I know that the shoppers in there aren't exactly on the poverty line, but the WASTE! And what was it going to achieve, other than to piss people off? It's not going to stop people drinking milk, it's going to mean that the milk had to be replaced, and (possibly) given there is now less supply it might make milk a penny or two more expensive which will affect everyone (especially if they do it more) .

Yep. Just inane.

octopusrus · 14/10/2022 12:36

And as if the police have the time and resources to spend on these idiots.

dreamingbohemian · 14/10/2022 12:44

The painting is protected by glass so nothing has been damaged

I don't agree with it personally but I think all the attention to this is sort of proving their point. I don't remember this much outrage last week when it was announced that there were several thousand excess deaths during this summer's heatwaves. All the terrible news about the climate, about people actually dying, gets very little traction, meanwhile a symbolic attack on a painting creates this huge uproar.

ChaToilLeam · 14/10/2022 12:45

Idiots. They’re getting attention but it doesn’t do their cause any good.

PeekabooAtTheZoo · 14/10/2022 12:50

Despicable and pointless. I think when they glue themselves to things the police should set up a cordon and a tent around them so everyone just thinks it’s unexpected roadworks.

PeekabooAtTheZoo · 14/10/2022 12:50

To stop giving them attention

hattie43 · 14/10/2022 12:55

The great unwashed .
They are disgusting and should be jailed .

Mumsnut · 14/10/2022 12:57

The great brainwashed

CMZ2018 · 14/10/2022 12:57

Utter vermin

AnnPerkins · 14/10/2022 13:08

In the words of Geoff Norcott 'This makes me want to frack my own garden'.

These fucking brats are making enemies out of ordinary people who agree with their cause.

If there's a PR genius out there who can turn useful acts into effective activism, like guerrilla loft-insulating or something I will back them every step of the way.

OhmygodDont · 14/10/2022 13:10

All they will accomplish is pissing off the general public enough till the government manage to get a majority of people happy enough to ban all forms of protest. They need to get a life and job and stop being dicks.

ladywithnomanors · 14/10/2022 13:13

Absolute bellends.
Their parents must be so proud.
