Surely Kwasi Kwarteng should get sacked

mintywinter · 11/10/2022 22:35

Given the disastrous situation and the fact that something needs to be done, surely Kwasi can't hold on to his job?

Considering that are rumours that he and Truss are allegedly having an affair or were having an affair, I'd say the chances of him holding onto his job are high.

Ditto the Health Secretary, she just happens to be Truss' best friend so is highly unlikely to be sacked despite her car crash interviews this week.

Boris Johnson set the bar so low that it was on the ground and now we have the worms that live in the mud under that bar.

Faciadipasta · 11/10/2022 22:44

I remember being pleased when Cameron walked. Each successive PM has been worse than the one before since then. Honestly I almost want him back (not really though)

Notlabeled · 11/10/2022 22:46

This mess is a house of cards made of debt 40 years in the making. It's about to come tumbling down all across the globe. No current UK politician can do anything to avoid this other than raising taxes as well as slashing government spending by 70-80%, even then it won't stop financial meltdown in the EU, China and USA.

Do people not realise there scale of what is going on now and what's about to happen??

Endlesssummer2022 · 11/10/2022 22:46

Why would he get sacked? Him, Truss, Patel and Raab told us who they were in their 2012 book ‘Britannia Unchained’. They are extreme libertarians and are causing massive disruption to bring about their aim of a diminished state. Causing these issues will mean they are ‘forced’ to make drastic cuts for the state. They work for disaster capitalists and shadowy American think tanks.

You didn’t think because they were all surrounded by flags that the 2019 intake of Tories was remotely patriotic did you??

Catonamountain · 11/10/2022 22:50

It's all been a disaster since f Brexit for one reason or another

Over the years I have often heard people say of a prospective new PM or Government "well they can't be any worse than that what we have now". Sadly it often proves to be that they are worse.

After Cameron then May then Johnson we are now effectively on the "D Team" in terms of quality.

Parsley1234 · 11/10/2022 22:57

Truss is the worst by far - this government are nepotistic and low in critical thought and emotional intelligence

They are having an affair? Shock

Fuk meee. Pass me a bucket, I need to vom. Confused

@mintywinter YANBU at ALL. Kwarteng is way out of his depth, and Truss has no fucking clue how to tie her own bastard shoelaces. Let alone run this country. Neither of them should be in their positions.

A few others are out of place too. Including Theresa Coffey. SHE looks and acts like a teacher in a primary school. NONE of them look or act like leaders, and NONE of them know what they are doing.

I seriously fear for this country right now to be honest. We NEED a General Election NOW.

FFS, Brexit won't even be a blip on the graph of history.

This entire situation is caused because nothing the government has paid for had been funded since the 70's and even before that.

Every pound in your pocket is worth nothing because of value is based solely on government debt. Same for the Dollar and the Euro. Everything is based on governments and banks selling and reselling debt, then printing more money to buy more debt.

The entire global financial system is unravelling but yeah.......Brexit.

I hope everyone is looking at their pension funds right now, most of us won't have one left by this time next week.

MrsSkylerWhite · 11/10/2022 22:59

Well yes, obviously, in a sane world.

but then so should his boss.

Abolition of fiat currencies to be replaced by government issued digital currency.

But this is after the entire system falls apart.

Only way to avoid is to default on all government debt. Run double digit inflation for the next 20 years or slash government spending, and it would mean spreading it by 70-80%.

Notlabeled · 11/10/2022 23:02

Slashing it I meant.

Notlabeled · 11/10/2022 23:04

Does anyone on here realise theres a good chance their entire pension fund might wiped out in the next few days?

Like I say this is not a new problem, it's been relentless can kicking by politicians for decades.

Endlesssummer2022 · 11/10/2022 23:04

When Truss kept banging on about massive tax cuts during her leadership campaign, I thought she was just saying that to woo the retired colonel membership vote. It was clear that following COVID, a tax cut was a shit idea. But they followed it through. Absolute free market zealots.

Parsley1234 · 11/10/2022 23:04

if they slash fiat the debts won’t just get written off ?

It’s only a rumour. They were said to have had an affair in the past, don’t know if it’s going on now.

Either way that’s not the reason she won’t sack him.

No need to abolish fiat currency to bring in CBNC. China is running both.

hairyfail · 11/10/2022 23:11

I don't think she's shagging him now but he's not the only one. See also mark field, a previous Aussie PM and one of her researchers. Morals don't seem to fit with a Tory PM.

To answer your question, he should go but won't- there is no one to hold any of them to account.

1dayatatime · 11/10/2022 23:13

Truss and Kwarteng are politically too interlinked and if one goes then that would take down the other as well.

I really can't see who (Conservative) is left to replace her in another leadership contest plus I can't see the public putting up with yet another unelected PM. The Conservatives will never call a General Election with Labour as far ahead in the polls as they are. So we are left with infighting in a Zombie Government with the economy increasingly falling apart every day.

Exactly. These are her policies as well as his. (Well the IEA’s).

Last week I thought they might get away with a leadership election.

This week it will have to be a GE. There will have to be a VONC.

No populace will let their governments slash spending to the minimum levels that the situation requires, so that's out.

If the governments across the globe default on their debts then money just stops. There will no way to sell or buy as money would have no value and would lead to mass civil unrest and likely starvation.

More likely they will try to keep printing money and the government will buy more of its own debt(this is already happening). We will have decades of above 10% inflation and high interest rates and the people will all get very very poor, other than a few very wealthy.

Things almost fell apart in 2008/09 but they managed to keep things going with low interest and printing money. CoVid lockdowns and the printing of money to pay for it has broken the camels back.

This is all over the globe and not confined to our own shower of shit in the commons. Voting will not fix this. Starmer won't fix this. We have nothing but years of relentless misery and poverty ahead and there is not a thing we can do about it.

Oh, and we are also on the verge of a nuclear war.

I agree with pp it’s a stalemate. He goes they both do but no appetite for another leadership contest

Isn’t there a vote in the mini budget? I’ve lost track. If he loses that it’ll be hard to stay

Kendodd · 11/10/2022 23:22

Interesting interview here. He's of the opinon that if Labour politicians had created such a mess, we'd be having a GE by now. The tabloids would never have tolerated it.
