We're currently in dispute with our employer over a 2.5% pay offer. Others in our sector have won 9%

Just wondered what others are getting / requesting

3% (university)

browneyes77 · 11/10/2022 19:31

3% in April (I work in recruitment in retail).

And then as fast as I got it they upped the NI contributions and my pension payments went up so can’t say I saw much of it….

HotDogJumpingFrogHaveACookie · 11/10/2022 19:33

5% plus a fairly hefty boost of our benefits.

Runnerduck34 · 11/10/2022 19:39

Local Government- been offered a blanket £1925 a year. So if you are on the living wage I think that works out as an increase in line with the current rate of inflation, but its less than rate of inflation for everyone else. Even so its probably the best pay increase I've had in 10 years of working for the local council!

JaninaDuszejko · 11/10/2022 19:43

About 5%. Pharmaceuticals.

jackstini · 11/10/2022 19:46

Nope
Complete contract change that has resulted in a reduction of about 60%
(Removal of monthly retainer and now commission only)

DinosApple · 11/10/2022 19:58

Nope. Teaching Assistant here. My last rise was about a year ago, it was something like 3p.
Fucking ridiculous.

I'm off soon, I can't afford to look after and help other people's children, whilst not being able to make ends meet for my own!

FlutterbButterfly · 11/10/2022 19:59

Nope, had no payrise in 10 years. Definitely underpaid for what we do but not a job where you can ask for a raise.

Onionbhajisandwich · 11/10/2022 20:02

I’ve had no pay rise but I’m told there may be one in a few months.

Hopeislost · 11/10/2022 20:03

Yes 2% - being balloted for strike action!

pompomdaisy · 11/10/2022 20:08

3% can't believe people are complaining because they won't get 9%. I've never had a 9% pay rise in my life!

PeachCottonTree · 11/10/2022 20:09

DH works in the private sector and got 9% cost of living rise late winter/early spring. Everyone in the company got the same.
I’m a teacher. Doubtful we’ll get anywhere near the same so effectively a pay cut.

Inflation has hit a 30 year high so yes, you expect a rise larger than most workers have experienced. Won't get it of course but the expectation is fair.

lavenderfine · 11/10/2022 20:11

Retail. Just under 8% rise from November.

HideTheCroissants · 11/10/2022 20:14

I got 1% last year, expecting the same this year.

DH is getting 1% in April.

We are both public sector.

When was the interest rate this high though? The exec at our place know their worth, we should too surely?

I work in the charity sector so no recent pay rise. Don't care as love what I do compared to before when I used to work in a higher paying public sector role.
TBH I was overpaid, underworked and frustrated by many lazy colleagues (spending all day online shopping or talking to their boyfriends, even in front of the department directors).
Paid a fortune to twiddle my thumbs. No thanks.
Love what I do now and feel more fulfilled and less bored but still act as a consultant for public sector. Of all our clients (and we work with big clients like Google, Amazon), public sector are always the most difficult and useless.
So feel very irritated when I see public sector workers complain and strike. Try the charity sector if you want to see real work.

I've worked in both and this is not my experience.

I'm on strike today and I absolutely won't apologise for it. Nobody is applying for jobs at our place because the wage is shite and conditions are worse.

I've taught for 23 years - I've worked harder in the last 3 than I have in the previous 20.

OP posts:
LeFeu · 11/10/2022 20:21

3% in August. We’ve already been striking last month and there are more to come (work in professional services in HE)

LeFeu · 11/10/2022 20:27

(Also very conscious that I’d be paid £5000+ less a year to do my job in a school for shittier terms and conditions. Solidarity with all teaching and education staff balloting to strike!)

DomesticShortHair · 11/10/2022 20:33

No pay rise since last November, which was at the 6 month point with my new company and fairly typical for how they work. Nothing since. My annual review was due in April which didn’t happen.

A couple of other colleagues I’ve spoken to have been told there’s no money in the current climate. Managing directors have just taken several million from the company this year, loading it up with debt to do so.

Danikm151 · 11/10/2022 20:38

We got 2% + a one off £300 in April. Which got eaten up by the NI increase and UC work taper.

Smileeriley · 11/10/2022 20:38

No pay rise.
My boss, owner of the company has bought himself a swanky second car and just back from his second holiday in about four months.
I'm going to wait for the new year and tell them to cough up.
I'm working two jobs, hoping to rent to a student in new year and give up my second job.
I'm exhausted and feel like I never see my lovely children.

AntiqueRug · 11/10/2022 20:38

No pay rise for the last 3 years
