We're currently in dispute with our employer over a 2.5% pay offer. Others in our sector have won 9%

Just wondered what others are getting / requesting

Public sector. You must be joking. My wage today is worth less that my salary 10 years ago. My only increase last year resulted in my getting paid less because the increase* *in wage ended up with me owing more than the increase in pension payments.

Lifeisrelentless · 11/10/2022 18:37

I got 5% plus a bonus of £1000. The 5% works out to hardly anything though, an extra £100 a month before tax so basically just gets swallowed up with the increase in everything!

PinkPlantCase · 11/10/2022 18:38

I’m an Architect - 6% effective from October onwards. DH expecting a similar pay rise too.

Places are really struggling with recruitment right now so I think pay rises are higher then normal.

twistyizzy · 11/10/2022 18:38

We have had zero payrise for 2 years

whiteroseredrose · 11/10/2022 18:38

£1000 a year. Currently on £25k

Riverlee · 11/10/2022 18:42

No pay rise.

piratehugs · 11/10/2022 18:46

3% in April, which I was briefly delighted with until reality sank in.

DenbyChina · 11/10/2022 18:47

None. Our school is in deficit and unless school
pay rises are funded by the government, we won’t be getting one this year or next. Not entirely sure where the extra money to pay bills will come from.

DailyMailHater · 11/10/2022 18:28

Nope not even cost of living and private sector so can’t strike just got to lump it or leave

You absolutely can strike in the private sector. Its not just for the public sector.

HollaHolla · 11/10/2022 18:50

Higher Education Professional Services. We've had tiny dribs and drabs, but I now take home LESS than I did 8 years ago, in the same job. Salary has gone up so little, and income tax (Scotland), NI & pension contributions keep going up - so I take home £20 a month less than I did when I started in this job. Great.
Unsurprisingly we've been balloted again for Strike Action, which I think will go ahead, again.

Rumplestrumpet · 11/10/2022 18:51

Public sector. Pay rises don't exist in our department! Don't think I've had more than 2% once or twice in the past 15 years. I've had a few promotions so earn more than I did when I first joined, but junior staff are starting to rely on food banks, which is appalling.

I've just gone back to full time so that will feel like a payrise 😂

TheHoover · 11/10/2022 18:53

1% for me (public sector)
zero for DH (private, in a really struggling industry)

TheHobbitMum · 11/10/2022 18:55

I'm in retail and got just over 7% over the year (2x increases) and a bonus.

EscapeFromHubby · 11/10/2022 18:56

Had 55p an hour rise in July and just heard we get an extra 20p an hour from mid Nov

Sausageandmashx · 11/10/2022 18:56

5% starting from this month, private sector. They've only done it as people were leaving in droves and we are struggling to recruit so they needed to try and keep some of the staff that they already have. It works out to be around an extra £100 a month after tax etc but then everything else has gone up too. Better than nothing I suppose.

ISeeTheLight · 11/10/2022 18:58

I got about 4% in January. Have been told to expect another 6%ish this coming January. Private sector.

3WildOnes · 11/10/2022 19:02

9%. Large charity.

Flaunch · 11/10/2022 19:03

3.1% + £300

the unions weren’t happy and they’re currently in the middle of strikes over it.

Eatmycake3333 · 11/10/2022 19:11

Albgo
we got about 47p of a rise ph. From 9.50 to 9.97ph. Absolutely totally disgusting.
we just earn slightly over the threshold. So not entitled to anything but child benefit.

HeyMicky · 11/10/2022 19:12

2.5% increase for UK employees (global company) from 1 October

Faciadipasta · 11/10/2022 19:16

Nope nothing for 2 years, it's nothing for 3 years for DH :(
He's private sector and I'm at a charity though so not much we can do about it.

changingstages · 11/10/2022 19:16

2%, private sector, in May. Not expecting any more nor a higher rise next year. They are a brilliant company in other ways which is why it's being put up with but I think there will be major grumbling about it come
the new year and I hope they offer something more substantial - not so much for me, I'm very senior and on about the max of what I'd expect to earn but for the younger staff who are going to struggle.

Meggie2008 · 11/10/2022 19:22

9% wholesaler. Which sounds okay but really it's like an extra £1 an hour.

Overshadowed · 11/10/2022 19:24

Yes, got the NHS pay rise. I’m loaded now!

Workyticket · 11/10/2022 19:25

Interesting to read where everyone else is at.

I'm struggling with reading where other money is being spent by the Executive Team at our place. Exec promotions, hotel expenses etc.

We're using 12 year old computers, supplying our own board pens etc. Ive just paid out for a new laptop because the ones we We're promised 4 years ago never appeared. Some colleague have taken second jobs on at weekends
