Dunking biscuits is just wrong.

Urgh, there is nothing worse than a soft biscuit. And even worse, bits of said soggy biscuit in the bottom of your cup.

That's where it's the pickle of trying to soak the biscuit without risking structural integrity of the specific biscuits.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 10/10/2022 22:34

You're doing it wrong because I thoroughly enjoy a chocolate hobnob dunked in my coffee.

Quick dunk, chocolate melts and biscuit softens a little but still holds its integrity.

AnneLovesGilbert · 10/10/2022 22:39

Reported. Epically goady.

JaneJeffer · 10/10/2022 22:42

Everyone is on the biscuits tonight.

popo50 · 10/10/2022 22:43

You're very wrong.
Practice makes perfect at t getting the right amount of drunk for the kind of biscuit.
Rich tea-in and straight out
Digestive-can cope with a few seconds of dunkage before it disintegrates
Hob nobs-master dunker and soak up half your cup of tea.

Peter Kay does a very funny sketch on dunking biscuits

If you've got soggy bits, something is wrong!

ChicagoBears · 10/10/2022 22:45

Dunking is the only way to go!

YABVVVVU

BattenburgDonkey · 10/10/2022 22:45

You are wrong, soggy biscuits in your cup isn’t nice but really that just suggests you are doing a bad job with your biscuit dunking.

RoseBucket · 10/10/2022 22:46

You just haven’t worked out your timings properly.

RampantIvy · 10/10/2022 22:46

I agree. I don't see the point in dunking a biscuit. I like a biscuit because it is crunchy. If I want something soft I will eat a cake. Besides, why ruin a perfectly good cup of tea?

The only people I know who dunk do so because they don't have very good teeth.

NoWordForFluffy · 10/10/2022 22:46

YANBU. The texture of a dunked biscuit is properly grim!

Dunking biscuits is pretty much a hobby of mine. If it's a rich tea finger, double up for more strength (one alone will just plop in the cup) but other than that, just work on your timings. I think if tea wasn't a thing, I'd probably be much slimmer as a dry biscuit just doesn't really do it for me 🤣

Because it's delicious

purpliee · 10/10/2022 22:50

Makes the tea greasy

Paddingtonthebear · 10/10/2022 22:51

Totally agree, cannot understand the love of dunking biscuits at all. Bleugh!

Ellnet · 10/10/2022 22:51

YABU you can’t not bite the opposite corners off a penguin and suck the tea up through it? As others have said timing is crucial, eg ginger nuts take more time to dunk than custard creams, the harder the biscuit the more dunking time needed.

Undertheoldlindentree · 10/10/2022 22:58

Farmhouse Oat Fips or Oat and Raisin Cookies make the best dunkers. Still retain a bit of crunch, but they're so porous you can suck the tea back out of them.

Best done without anyone else in the room!

NoGoHoliday · 10/10/2022 23:27

Awww, fond memories of “Abbey Crunch” biscuits!! They could draw up (and hold) loads of tea and tasted amazing!! Haven’t seen them in shops for maybe 15 years or so, and I believe there was a campaign to bring them back… hurry up McVities - I miss them!!

Overall cannot best, a good dunking

FistFullOfRegrets · 11/10/2022 00:47

I don't like sweet tea, so I make 2 cups, one for dunking, one for drinking!!

@Ellnet there's an even better biscuit for that called a TimTam. I'm drooling at the thought!!

@Toddlerteaplease you're wrong! As wrong as a wrong thing can be!

alexdgr8 · 11/10/2022 00:52

don't be silly.
use a grown-up biscuit: rich tea.

Cw112 · 11/10/2022 01:01

You're dunking too long if there's bits at the bottom op!! And you need the biscuit to have decent structural integrity to begin with like a good hobnob or something chunky.
