Creeslough tragedy
Whowhatwherewhenwhy1 · 08/10/2022 09:27
Many of you will have heard about the explosion in the small Donegal town of Creeslough. This devastating tragedy has so far claimed 7 confirmed deaths with more expected. This is a tiny village. It was prime treat Friday sweeties after school time. This will impact every single family in the village and surrounding area. To give you an idea of the size of this small community there are less than 25 children in the village primary school. Please hold the locals in tour thoughts or prayers today as there are still people trapped or unlocated. 😢
Am I being unreasonable?

It's completely devastating. I'm in tears most of the the morning thinking about them. They will never get over this. Never.
FYI this thread is in AIBU. Maybe you could get it moved to Craicnet.

Oh OP it's so so tragic.
What an awful thing to happen to the community.
When I was growing up there was a tragedy at the school across the road from mine that impacted on the community massively, 12 children and a teacher were killed. It is so so sad and the impact of that is still felt in the community decades later.
NoddyMcdoddy · 08/10/2022 09:44
Beyond tragic, 7 deaths and sadly I think there will be more as the day unfolds.
Agree this post might be better moved to craicnet.
romdowa · 08/10/2022 09:47
It's tragic . I wish them all strength in such an awful time. I think the community will need every but it can get. Some of the stories in the papers are awful. Families being told loved ones have been found either dead or alive and then being told that it's not their loved one.
MyCatIsAChonk · 08/10/2022 09:47
Craicnet is just for Irish posters. Is a tragedy in Ireland not news enough for the rest of the world?
GrabbyGabby · 08/10/2022 09:47
I know Creeslough well. The corncutters rest was always our pitstop on the way to Falcarragh.
It will be devastating for that community. The awful thing is, it could have been worse, i dread to think what the toll would have been if the petrol had ignited.

i agree
bring it to attention over the board
DontSuitAJumpsuit · 08/10/2022 09:54
That is horrendous. You just cannot imagine such a terrible explosion and the absolute horror of the aftermath. My heart is with anyone affected
AsAnyFuleKno · 08/10/2022 09:54
My thoughts are with those affected and with the emergency services as they continue the search for survivors.

Absolutely think this should be highlighted to the whole board but felt that the original poster didn't realise it was posted in AIBU.

what caused the explosion?
They think a gas explosion in the apartments behind the petrol station.
TheVeryThing · 08/10/2022 10:05
It’s truly horrifying, I can only imagine how many people were in the shop, let alone the apartments behind. Some of their loved
ones would not even have known they were there initially.
This will be devastating for such a tiny place, was there on holidays as a child.
Very little information has been given out which makes me think there is more bad news expected today.
Ponoka7 · 08/10/2022 10:08
This should be on the main news channels today. Yesterday was still full of the shocking incident in Thailand and the carrying out of the children's coffins. Absolutely heartbreaking.
RaininSummer · 08/10/2022 10:10
How awful. Please keep on the main board for those of us who do not read the craicnet board specifically.
Silene · 08/10/2022 10:16
Heartbreaking. So sad for the whole community. What a tragedy.,thinking of everyone involved, the emergency services need all their courage too.
Dunnangallforever · 08/10/2022 10:16
Heartbreaking. I'm from Donegal and know this will be devastating for the whole of the local community and beyond. So so sad.
