To be devastated over lost luggage (BA)

Emmmie · 08/10/2022 09:03

British Airways has lost my luggage. It has now been nearly a month and my luggage is still missing.

I have very little left to wear. My tablet is gone as well as my little one's clothing and shoes.

All these items can be replaced, and maybe I am not as bothered as I should be, but some items in my luggage are irreplacable and I am devastated that they have been lost.

My mother lives in Canada and I live in the UK. She lives alone and was having a terrible time during the Covid crisis. She kept herself calm by knitting cute outfits and a blanket for my little girl despite her bad eyesight and aching joints. She was sending me photos of her progress which I have included below.

Now all these items are lost. I can make a claim with BA but they are asking me for receipts. Needless to say, I have none.

It just feel so angry and sad. My little girl never even got a chance to wear any of the outfits her grandmother made.
I really don't know what to do.

It might yet turn up. Those blankets are gorgeous. I ve got all the little cardigans my dc ggm knit for them.

confused162 · 08/10/2022 09:09

That is so sad, the hedgehog blanket is beautiful. I would not give up on your case, it must be somewhere. I would try and do some research and maybe someone who works at BA will be along to suggest something.

Trying to locate it now before its sent to an Auction for unclaimed baggage would have a greater chance of success.

Needmorelego · 08/10/2022 09:12

That is so sad. They are amazing and beautiful. Your mum is so talented.
Unfortunately I don't know what the chances of you getting your luggage is but at least you have the photographs so you can show your daughter when she is older and she will see how talented her Granny is and how much Granny loves her for making them.

billy1966 · 08/10/2022 09:20

Oh my goodness what an incredibly talented woman your mother is.

They are absolutely stunning.

Of course you are upset.

That is very upsetting.

HelloDoggy · 08/10/2022 09:24

I think it may still turn up OP. I've had lost luggage before, once in Amsterdam during a change of flight and once in Japan. Both times took weeks and weeks to get back, but I did get it back. So hopefully u will too 💐

sleepwhenyouaredead · 08/10/2022 09:40

Mine turned up (BA) after nearly 4 weeks. A missing carseat - different airline turned up after 6 weeks.
I think there is still a bit of hope

Sd352 · 08/10/2022 09:51

I am so sorry! Your mum is so talented!

keep chasing BA, post on their social networks, email, send them these pictures — keep the pressure on them to find it.

landyland · 08/10/2022 09:54

I don't suppose you can see the tablet on findmyohone or anything?

Put this on BA twitter.

Anniefrenchfry · 08/10/2022 09:56

I’m sorry about this, a couple of pointers, never put electronics like a tablet in luggage it is likely going to be stolen and always put an a4 piece of paper in the case with your name address and phone Number in the case. As often tags get ripped off and if there is something In it to identify you you will get it back

there is an international tracking system, if ba cannot see where it is then it’d likely the tags were ripped off as it was processed.

Darbs76 · 08/10/2022 09:58

Is there a place you could go and try and locate the case? It’s probable the tags have come off, I bet it’s still there somewhere.

bit late now but I’ve bought air tags for all our cases now so can locate them if they go astray, worth the outlay if you’re travelling

averageavocado · 08/10/2022 10:33

I have very little left to wear. My tablet is gone as well as my little one's clothing and shoes.

if your stuff was lost by BA, then you should be able to buy clothes and toiletries and they will pay for them when you send in receipts. Virgin did for me (around £200 when I went to the USA and then they found my suitcase when I got home, but I didn't have to return money or things)

Emmmie · 11/11/2022 08:22

Thank you all for your advice and for taking the time to read my post. I just wanted to let you know that my luggage has been located and delivered yesterday. I am so happy. It took 2 months, but it's finally here🙂

Great news OP

5foot5 · 11/11/2022 08:30

Delighted it finally turned up

OldTinHat · 11/11/2022 08:30

Hooray that you have everything back! Beautiful items btw, I adore the blanket!

SpringSparrow · 11/11/2022 08:37

Aw glad to hear you got your luggage and your precious hand made items back! I knit and crochet myself and Royal Mail recently lost some items I made. I was only able to claim for the cost of the yarn, which does not compensate for the hours of work. Your mother’s work is beautiful.

billy1966 · 11/11/2022 08:58

Fantastic news. Delighted for you.

What incredible workman ship.

I crochet'd at one point in my life🙄......much harder than it looks😁

Dotjones · 11/11/2022 09:03

Glad it's turned up.

I like the hedgehogs and ladybird combo, is that a nod to the Country Companions cards from the 90s? The hedgehog or rabbit were usually the star but there was always a ladybird or two loitering around.

maras3 · 11/11/2022 09:03

Great news.
So pleased for you, those baby clothes and blanket were just lovely.

Ohyoudodoyou · 11/11/2022 09:06

I do like a nice outcome and and the little hedgehog blanky is absolutely beautiful. Family heirloom, frame it when she's older.

Wheredoallthepensgo · 11/11/2022 09:07

Ah that's lovely OP. Precious things for your dd.

PurBal · 11/11/2022 09:08

Forestdweller11 · 11/11/2022 09:09

Locsup183 · 11/11/2022 09:09
