Following on from a thread yesterday, I guessed Liz was 56. I was shocked to hear she's a decade younger. I guess I am being unreasonable. It was probably the photo of her having a meeting wearing comfy trainers that did it. How old would you have guessed she was?

I'm going to say the same thing I said when people were laughing about Therese Coffey's weight.

What the heck how old she looks. Judge her on results when the policies have had time. Everybody at the moment is trying to pass the buck in Whitehall.

FFS who cares who old she looks! Judge her on her policies, not on whether she looks old for her age.

I do suspect a fair few of us have an unrealistic perception of how young WE look. I'm pretty sure most of like to believe we look young for our age when in reality s total stranger would would very easily rip that perception to shreds.

I do think she looks older than she is and I was quite shocked to find out that she's only 47.. I don't agree that's internalised misogyny or ageism, as I don't think that looking older is a bad thing in and of itself. As an example, I have naturally grey hair which I don't dye. I'm aware this puts ten years on me but I don't give a toss.

It's our attitudes towards ageing and assumptions about older people that need to change, not our intuitions about someone's age. There's nothing wrong with having a sense of how old you think a person is, and then being surprised when that turns out to be wrong.

She is right at the prime perimenopausal age.

I assume anyone running the country must be much, much older than me, because that's the way it's always been.

It's quite a shock to realise that I could have been in high school at the same time as the pm.

It's going to be even weirder when I'm older than a pm one day.

Erm yes! People have widely mocked and ridiculed how he looked and questioned if he's capable because he can't even seem to brush his hair.

Bollocks she does. She looks like a normal mid 40s woman who hasn't wasrted time and money on 'tweakments' - and is, by any margin incredibly successful. She is Prime Minister!

I loathe her politics and all she stands for, but I also loathe dragging successful women for how they look.

I never thought much about her age, but I am struck by her resemblance to an alpaca - if you can imagine an alpaca that isn't cute. Same forehead shape and shortness of chin, same stretching-up look about the neck, similar hair.

I'd rather have an alpaca for PM if the truth were told. It would be pretty strong on green issues and support for farming, no doubt.
