Cost of living faux confusion - is this the new non-binary?

A couple of years back there was a whole spate of threads from people claiming they “didn’t understand” the concept of being non-binary and, while they absolutely weren’t being judgemental in any way (heaven forbid!), they were terribly confused what it all meant and wanted to be educated. “I just want to understand, explain it to me” ad infinitum.

Those seem to have died out a bit now - but faux confusion over cost of living threads seems to be the replacement. More and more threads are going down the route of “But I don’t understand, I went to the shops on Thursday and people were actually buying things, so how can there be a cost of living crisis?! Who is spending all this money? And I don’t mean shitholes full of common people discount shops like Aldi and Poundland - I mean NICE shops like M&S Foodhall and Waitrose! So where is this cost of living crisis? I’m sooooo confuuuused!!!”

I can’t be the only one thinking that this basically translates to “If there was a REAL cost of living crisis people would be rummaging in the gutters for bruised apples instead of spending actual money in nice shops and rubbing shoulders with the likes of me - therefore they should all stop moaning and go and chew on an Asda Essential”?

But whether it is or isn’t is not really the issue here. You think the concept of being non-binary is cobblers and have said so - no beating about the bush. The kind of threads I’m talking about are from people who clearly also think it’s cobblers, but dress it up as “I’m trying to understand, but I’m just struggling…” Yes, of course you are 🤔

It’s the same with the cost of living deniers. They won’t say “Crisis my foot - people are just lazy bastards who should work harder”. So instead they invent this “confusion” about having actually seen people in shops to imply the same thing.

So as long as you have a position, that's fine. No conversation required. No debate, no enqiry, no trying to understand another perspective. Seems to be a pattern these days.

Why is it so hard for you to understand that some people may not understand? Yes you can say it means you don’t confirm to a gender but it’s not as simple as that.

The Wikipedia definition isn’t even simple (see below). Why do you think everyone should understand this?

“Non-binary people may identify as an intermediate or separate third gender,[6] identify with more than one gender,[7][8] no gender (agender), or have a fluctuating gender identity (genderfluid).[9] Gender identity is separate from sexual or romantic orientation;[10] non-binary people have various sexual orientations, just as cisgender people do.[11] Being non-binary is also not the same as being intersex; most intersex people identify as either male or female.[12]

Non-binary people as a group vary in their gender expressions, and some may reject gender identity altogether.[13] Some non-binary people are medically treated for gender dysphoria with surgery or hormones, as trans men and trans women often are.[14]”

Non-binary people as a group vary in their gender expressions, and some may reject gender identity altogether.

That's it then people who reject gender identity may be non binary.

So gender critical women are not women. That's left for those (males) who identify as women and women who agree with gender ideology.

Glad that's cleared up.

What a load of tosh.

I don't like it because as I understand it, it usually means gender stereotypes and most people nowadays are not a gender stereotype🤷🏻
Equally don't like the "we are all destitute" vs "John Lewis is buzzin'"

I still don't understand non binary and no one has ever been able to explain it in a way that makes the slightest bit of sense

A friend asked his twentysomething daughter what it was. Apparently It means that you're attention-seeking and tedious.

Yes funnily enough my 16 year old thinks the same.

Yes funnily enough my 16 year old thinks the same.

My 18 year old niece and 14 year old nephew also think so.
