Saw the advert and I'm not impressed. They look too weird and scary for young toddlers. The eyes are WEIRD

Don't watch it then?

SavoirFlair · 03/10/2022 09:29

what did the BBC say when you put this to them?

yep thought not.

YABU. If your toddler would be scared by the “weird eyes”, then .. you have the remote. You have the power

Giggorata · 03/10/2022 09:51

My 4 year old grandson adores Spidey and the gang and the 2 year old is vaguely interested and not scared. I know that's only two kids, but hope that's reassuring.

MrsSkylerWhite · 03/10/2022 09:52

So don’t put it on?

Geneva12 · 03/10/2022 09:58

My 3 year old loves spidey. Glad that it is on CBeebies no as I’m thinking about getting rid of Disney+

Skinnermarink · 03/10/2022 09:59

Well Moonbaby is allowed 🤣

You don’t have to watch it.

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 03/10/2022 10:03

I feel the need to watch this now. My 3 year old is scared of numbers blocks which is a shame as she loves numberblocks.

SpringRainbow · 03/10/2022 10:19

I suspect a lot of toddlers will be familiar with Spiderman already so I suspect it wouldn’t be anymore scary to the majority of toddlers than other characters.

ditalini · 03/10/2022 10:21

Cbeebies had Dirtgirlworld. No weirdness will ever top it.

Mayorquimby2 · 03/10/2022 10:22

My 3.5 year old loves Spidey and friends and I find it a whole lot more tolerable than hearing Ryder declare which pups he'll need for an ultimate rescue

SpinningFloppa · 03/10/2022 10:23

Had to google it as
my kids don’t watch CBeebies can’t see how it’s scary?

Mayorquimby2 · 03/10/2022 10:24

Also it's got Gwen Stacey Spidey which I like so she's conscious early on that there's a female Spidey.

If anything's going to traumatise toddlers is the collywobble 😂

Oh I remember that one! Definitely much creepier than Spiderman!

PeekAtYou · 03/10/2022 10:28

Is Numberjacks still on? I know lots of kids who found the Number Taker terrifying.

Phos · 03/10/2022 10:28

OK I haven't seen it because my daughter currently is only really interested in a couple of CBeebies shows but I can't see anything remotely wrong or scary about it?

Eekle · 03/10/2022 10:29

It targets a similar age to CBeebies.

I'm not sure it quite feels "CBeebies" to me, but my young children love it, so I'm not entirely against it.

Anything can scare a toddler. DD was scared of Duggee when she was 2.

What's wrong with the eyes? Those on their costumes? Spider-Man's costume eyes are bigger than his normal eyes, those on the character's in Spidey are just stylised versions of it.
You really haven't watched much children's tv if you think a) this type of animation is weird & b) that children would be scared of it.
Many many cartoons are stylised with oversized eyes.

Florenz · 03/10/2022 10:32

It does seem a bit much for CBeebies. It should be on CBBC. Spiderman is friendly but some of the villains such as Green Goblin, Dr Octopus and Dr Doom are too scary for little ones.

Underwater11 · 03/10/2022 10:33

My 4 yr old is obsessed although didn’t like the hill to begin with but now does. The downside is her Christmas list is made up almost entirely of Spider-Man things. My nearly 2 yr old will watch along for a little bit, obviously doesn’t get it but definitely isn’t scared. Personally I love that there’s a girl Spidey, it’s great for my DD and when told by another child she couldn’t ‘play spiderman’ because she was a girl she was confident in saying she can.

Singleandproud · 03/10/2022 10:37

Cbeebies is for children 6 and under, seems fine for that older end to me.

My DD was terrified of the farmer in Peter Rabbit and the number taker. Not every show is for every child. Gotta say I'm missing the Octonaut and Chugging ton years it's more Stranger Things in our house now.

42isthemeaning · 03/10/2022 10:40

My ds was terrified of the shapes in Mister Maker! Can't say I blame him - creepy!

NKFell · 03/10/2022 10:46

My 5yr old LOVES it. Always "needing" the toys 🙄

ShatParp · 03/10/2022 10:51

I AM A SHAPE! Was it the rectangle that was possessed?!

My 2yo was terrified of the spooky Duggee episode which is a parody of Scooby Doo, it put him off for life!
