Live singer in neighbour’s garden

Feels like it’s in the house with us - a live vocal and guitar 20 feet away.. Who does that? Is it a thing?
AIBU to be really annoyed at how intrusive it is. I’d have been fine if they’d put a note through the door letting us know about it in advance.

It's the weekend and they have until 11 before they have to keep the noise down.

Hymnulop · 01/10/2022 20:51

They should have absolutely let you know but I'd just suck it up personally. Are they any good? Take it as a free show if they are.

laylalee · 01/10/2022 20:52

Pics or didn’t happen

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 01/10/2022 20:52

I voted YABU but only because I'd love that! YANBU to not like it I guess

Hawkins001 · 01/10/2022 20:53

I Understand your perspectives and frustrations, but yea

userxx · 01/10/2022 20:53

I'd absolutely love that! Can't you pop over and join in ?

luxxlisbon · 01/10/2022 20:54

It’s not even 9pm and really what difference would it make if they put a note through your door earlier? It would be the exact same amount of noise.

People are allowed to live their lives and sometimes that means heading reasonable noise when you live close to other people. If it’s still going on in an hour or two it’s more of a problem but before 9 on a weekend you just have to get over it.

PhilistineWazzock · 01/10/2022 20:54

Only the one singer? I see you your lone singer and raise you my next door neighbour who has an entire band, and they rehearse in the back room with the bifold doors open which really bring the outside in and make a fucking racket. And they play shit covers and have to start each song about 5 times.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 01/10/2022 20:55

I presume it’s a one off rather than a regular occurrence. I’d just enjoy it as a one off. It’s early and it’s Saturday.

Redglitter · 01/10/2022 20:56

But with advance notice the OP could have made plans to go out & avoid it

DisappointinglyFlatulent · 01/10/2022 20:56

Depends what they're singing really. If it's the entire back catalogue of Cheeky Girls hits then YANBU. If it's just a bit of easy listening then meh - it'll be over soon.

JuneOsborne · 01/10/2022 20:57

We have this occasionally. Not our direct neighbours, but over the road. It's bloody loud! Good, but very loud.

laylalee · 01/10/2022 20:57

Celine Dion just rocked up at my neighbours and is belting out My Heart Will Go On. AIBU to tell her to shut it?

Floydthebarber · 01/10/2022 20:57

Our neighbours are having a party in their back garden but it isn't even 9pm on a Saturday. (They are great though and never have late parties so that might make a difference to how I feel)

Lunificent · 01/10/2022 21:03

He!s just finished his set. I think I prefer his 90s throwback busking to the party noise.

Floydthebarber · 01/10/2022 21:04

Although some further away neighbours have very loud afternoon/evening karaoke parties with the most bizarre choices of music: Oasis, Celine Dion, rap, boy band popstuff. Such an odd mix!

twoandcooplease · 01/10/2022 21:09

He!s just finished his set.

Laughed at this

I imagine it's like one of the American movies with the concert in the garden

Inclinedtochatter · 01/10/2022 21:10

We often had to listen to what I can only describe as Polands greatest power ballads during the summer. Quite entertaining really!

tillyandmilly · 01/10/2022 21:11

This is why I want to live in the depths of the countryside! I just need to win the lottery!

for me id need the lottery, but I'd consider a house in an industrial section,

StoneofDestiny · 01/10/2022 21:13

Perspective.
Could be worse if there was a dead singer in the garden.

It doesn’t help. We are a fair way from our neighbours but because we all feel like we don’t have neighbours nobody bothers about the party noise. We had loud nineties a few week ago until about 2am —quite enjoyed it though—

Threeboysandadog · 01/10/2022 21:19

My niece plays the bagpipes.

Haha! I wish! I live rurally and sometimes the noise is ridiculous 😑
Cows giving birth , all night harvesting, owl babies having all night parties on the roof.
Cockerels.
Foxes mating would wake the dead, and badgers fighting sound like the woken dead of many centuries all trying to kill each other.

We went on holiday to the middle of a cornish town and it was so peaceful.
