Thank goodness for this. The big problem of the last decade has been too much public spending.

Finally someone is going to cut the waste of a those extra ambulances we don't need and the thousands of surplus nurses who sit around doing nothing.

As a teacher it will be sad not to have huge pay rises every year but we need to fund the tax cuts for millionaires somehow.

It will be nice to be able to walk down the street without seeing police officers every 5 minutes.

What public service waste do you want to see cut now we are finally going to stop the waste?

Close all SEN schools. Why spend £50k to £100k per year on a child with additional needs and/or complex needs when they could be thriving alongside mainstream children under the cozy umbrella of inclusivity. My Local Authority is somewhat of a trailblazer in this area and if those pesky parents stopped taking up all their time with tribunals they'd be able to tell us what a success it is. EHCPs? Just namby pambying.
YY to spousal surgery. My DP did me a cracking full head of foil highlights in lockdown following a YouTube tutorial. Surely it's only a step up from that.

the80sweregreat · 01/10/2022 16:48

Make the schools colder. Character building ! Parents can Buy them a blanket to bring in
Stop the free school meals for kS 1 , well all the free meals , lunchbox only and all those kitchen staff can be laid off . Think of the savings on kitchens and fuel! Enormous.
Or canteen style food for primary school , sponsored by Greggs. A tie in with some Conservative donors.

Bagzzz · 01/10/2022 17:54

Having done away with police may as welll get rid of the courts as well. Pesky judges and lawyers seeing whether people actually did the things the mob say and sentencing the ones that did.

if Ms Truss says they are guilty diy death penalty - prison staff and doctors are too expensive.

the80sweregreat · 01/10/2022 18:22

Didn't they say they want to come out of the ECHR ? I've not heard anymore about it lately.

Anyway, the only one with any human rights are certain conservative voters , so that's ok and might save more money.

Partyinthefront · 01/10/2022 18:26

I actually can’t look at this thread any more because it’s too close to the reality.

OP - request because this thread will be copied and pasted as inspo by a Tory think tank before we know it- can you please add to the title something to say ‘SATIRICAL THREAD’ or something?

I think the American idea where teachers have to bring in their own classroom supplies could be extended here. And not just teachers: - doctors should pay for any surgical equipment, firefighters should supply their own fire engines….think of how much money could be saved if all essential equipment was paid for by the person doing the job.

I honestly thought that was going to say something about Americans each bringing own gun to the classroom. Anyway, what about no more police, and just have private security services? Everyone hunker down at night in fortress-style homes/compounds/estates. While the peasants shelter in their hovels with only pitchforks to defend their families. BBC could be reduced to just selling the International television rights of British towns & estates each evening, to raise revenue, as The Purge comes to life. Speaking of the BBC... who needs independent journalists? How about Murdoch Corp take over All print & broadcast media, with no state subsidies. Sorted.

purplethings · 01/10/2022 19:25

I think an extremely (think billions ) expensive advisor is necessary to rebrand the Tories and probably the royals too. Whilst they're at tjey should borrow some more for a complete modernisation of Westminster and a new royal yacht, after all these are the things that put the Britishness in Britain ! 🇬🇧

ClaudineClare · 01/10/2022 19:33

Cut disability and other welfare benefits. These people are living it up on taxpayer's money.

ClaudineClare · 01/10/2022 19:37

Anyone with any kind of MH or neuro diversity gets chained to a radiator in an asylum. Those victorians had the best ideas!

What a good plan. At least the radiators we won't be able to afford to put on can be useful after all.

Lonelycrab · 01/10/2022 19:52

A major cut on the navy could be good, just what this country needs.

We could convert the nice ones into like luxury warship yacht kinda thing, really plush. Rent them out to rich people once they’ve laundered their money in the U.K. and need to relax.

The other ships, you know the not so nice ones, put all the immigrants on them maybe? Obvs keep a few ships.

AnotherCF · 01/10/2022 19:55

Lower the age children leave school to 13. Get them working, it will help grow the economy and fill all those vacancies. And trim the education budget. Win win win.

gatehouseoffleet · 01/10/2022 19:58

Maybe just get rid of schools? Get your kids up, slap on a bit of YouTube, there’s plenty of science and maths things on there these days don’t you know.

Don't forget that during the covid lockdowns, there were plenty of MNers and others castigating parents for not wanting look after teach their own children. Who needs schools and teachers anyway?

flapjackfairy · 01/10/2022 20:27

well I dont know why the government maintains the water sewage system in this country frankly. We could all just chuck it out the window as in days of yore. Admittedly it might lead to a small.increase in the number of cases of dysentery and typhoid etc but just think what a boon that will be for the sufferer who will have a lovely high temperature to protect against the winter cold.
And just think.if lots of people die during outbreaks the government will be quits in at not having to provide any services for those people at all.
Win win all round. Surely it's a no.brainer

the80sweregreat · 01/10/2022 20:44

Roads. Pay as you go per mile. Might keep the riff raft off them.
We can't have the plebs in cars anymore.
It holds up the rich and their chauffeurs

FarmerRefuted · 02/10/2022 09:37

Fucking hell, has anyone see the proposed plans being reported to try and encourage growth?

  • areas will be given incentives such as GP surgeries and schools in exchange for allowing fracking. So withholding vital public services in exchange for an agreement that fracking companies can shit up the local environment? Hope these GP surgeries and schools are going to be earthquake proof.
  • school day extended to 4pm. Presumably so parents can work for longer but also presumably there will be no additional pay for teachers.
  • childminders will no longer need to be registered with Ofsted. This totally ignores the fact that the whole reason they were initially required to register was due to changes in safeguarding legislation. Unregistered childcare is not safe childcare.
flapjackfairy · 02/10/2022 10:03

@FarmerRefuted
I despair I really do.
How is it possible that we have 2 incompetent people able to destroy the economy in such a short space of time ? Not to mention the environment .
So much for democracy.

That is fucking grim. We cannot allow this stuff to go by unchecked. How do we stop this? How? I've never voted for a Tory government in my life.

FarmerRefuted · 02/10/2022 10:34

Write to your MP and tell them you don't support these measures, ask them to not support it too, to protect your area from fracking in exchange for services, to protect children from unregulated childcare, and to protect their right to quality education which includes a sufficient number of properly paid and trained staff. Basically make your feelings known, if MPs get worried that too many of their constituents are opposed and it might affect them winning their seat next time around then they'll rebel against the government.

FarmerRefuted yeah - did that, absolutely no response.

That’s what scares me @Blossomtoes - that the government will actually do this eventually.

That or raise the state pension age to 87.

My MP is JRM....not sure writing to him will do much good TBH.

Is this actually true or a joke? Scary..

Maybe we need a National swear jar. It would provide some rationale for their actions.
