And submit them.

That it.

Always4Brenner · 30/09/2022 11:14

I’ll do them on twitter no way am I facing a call with yet again ‘can’t understand them they can’t understand you’ that last an hour with you losing the will to live.

Luckily we’ve credit as well. Not as much

gingeristhenewblack43 · 30/09/2022 12:18

My gas smart meter has disconnected so I will be doing a reading.

MedPara · 30/09/2022 12:19

Submitted mine and am in credit. My monthly DD from tomorrow is going to be £0 due to being in credit and the £400 government energy payment. I guess it will stay at zero until that credit is used up. I will be putting what I normally pay into savings.

Always4Brenner · 30/09/2022 12:32

Our gas we can’t it’s outside the electric is smart so see what happens.

The government energy payment for October is £67 not £400.

We carefully calculated how much to top up so we can then later use the vouchers as well😂 We are still on pre april rates. That will run out in about 5 weeks I am guessing. Then this 250 gets in on pre october rates and then get vouchers on later.
Meanwhile I get email every 2 days from our provider to get smart meter. Hahahhaha. No

Theve been sending those letters to me for about a year now.

I'm hoping thise voucher wont have a expiry date

Hoppinggreen · 30/09/2022 13:28

rbe78 · 30/09/2022 10:57

@Hoppinggreen

So your monthly direct debit isn't the same as your bill. They work your monthly payment out by projecting how much you'll use over the year and then averaging that out over 12 months. Otherwise you'd be paying loads in winter, and not much in summer, which would be crap for most people's budgeting.

How much you are actually billed for depends on how much you use. In the winter, you will probably be billed for more than the amount of your direct debit, and your account will go in to defecit for a few months. But in the summer, you will proably use less energy, and be billed less than your direct debit. But the extra from your DD will go to oaying off the debt you accrued with them in the winter, and you should balance out by mid-summer.
.
So yes, you should read your meter today/take a photo of it and submit later, because from tomorrow the price per unit will go up, and you might get billed the higher price for energy you used before the price rise (becasue if you don't have a smart meter they won't know when you used the energy).

Thanks
I have submitted them and my suggested DD has gone down even more!
I am keeping it the same though
Very confused

Same here but now they upped it to considerable amount if emails.

3 months. I believe they can be re-issued but not sure if it deoends on provider

The government energy payment for October is £67 not £400.

It’s £400 payment spread over the next 6 months. So I guess we’re both right. This means my DD will be zero for 6 months unless I use more than I usually do, which I don’t plan on doing.

Rosehugger · 30/09/2022 16:33

Sure, I just didn't people to read it and think they were getting £400 credit in October.

FlickyCrumble · 30/09/2022 16:36

I'm in a queue 30 min wait to submit meter readings. At least I’ve remembered so thank you to OP.

scrufffy · 30/09/2022 16:37

Doesn't apply to my energy provider. But good to remind others.

Plumpciousness · 30/09/2022 16:43

For British Gas customers: their website says to take meter readings today and use their online form to submit the readings by 14 October. Smart meter or PAYG customers don't need to submit readings.

It seems that some (all?) energy providers are accepting readings for a few days into October, presumably to avoid overloading their web/phone systems. Check your supplier though.

FromageRouge · 30/09/2022 16:46

Beautiful3 · 30/09/2022 10:06

I was told to take a reading on the 1st October. Do you think I should take it today and submit it tomorrow.

The energy companies are giving a few days’ leaway.Their websites are under great strain today.

FromageRouge · 30/09/2022 16:48

Givenitarest · 30/09/2022 10:18

It’s a very wet day today so I’m going to have to wash and then dry my towels in the tumble drier as I’ve not got the heating on. Normally leave it to the weekend but will do it today to save a few pence. I hope my suppliers don’t change their tariffs a day early like yours have Fluffy - are they allowed to do that?!

Do we have till midnight to provide our readings?

The cost difference of one day’s worth of usage wouldn’t be worth more than an hour’s work for most people so no point diverting excessive time to the whole thing.

FromageRouge · 30/09/2022 16:52

Agrudge · 30/09/2022 11:12

It’s been a long time since I saw a prepayment meter? But don’t you load them with £s rather than kWhs? So loading extra in won’t make any difference will it? They’ll still charge the units at the relevant rate as the time they’re used, won’t they? Or am I confused?

CryCeratops · 30/09/2022 16:53

I tried to do this earlier today and I got put into a queue with a wait of over an hour to sign into my account. And then I missed the login verification email and my time slot expired 🤷‍♀️

However, my energy suppliers website did say that I could enter my meter readings up until the 5th October and the readings would be backdated to the 30th September on my account.

So I think I’ll try again in a day or two.

Don’t you have a key for the external meter cupboard?

goingback · 30/09/2022 17:12

no smart meter- hypothetically could someone exaggerate their readings to make them higher and be charged for future use at below the cap price?
not that i would ever consider doing it myself

I was just going to enter my Mums reading for her but the energy company have already logged an estimated reading which is quite a bit higher than her actual use. It would save money if I don't submit her reading.

Titsywoo · 30/09/2022 17:22

Submitted mine this afternoon quickly and easily unlike last time when the site was constantly down - guess less people have remembered this time?

indignatio · 30/09/2022 17:23

AIMummy · 30/09/2022 09:51

Thank you OP. Just to add this doesn't apply to those with smart meters as readings will be sent automatically to the supplier.

Only if they work!
