AIBU to not have the 4th covid jab ?

I've had all my covid vaccines up to date. I also had covid a few months ago.. I think I can get the next vaccine too if I want it. I was a bit surprised to be invited again..

Covid was just like a cold for me.

I'm 35, have MS ( not on any medication and I don't really have any symptoms apart from fatigue ). So no disability from it, no trouble walking or anything in my body- except fatigue.

I don't really want to have another vaccine. Is that unreasonable ?

Some people are just a bit dim. Not much you can do about it

Can we please move past the rudeness and sneering about whether people take these vaccines. It was shit at the time and it's long past sell-by date.

Exactly. Why are are people still spurting on about how dim and stupid people are who chose not to have a vaccine they know nothing about!

I've ended up with repercussions from the vaccine, walk in my shoes then tell me how fucking dim I am.

It's about misinformation. Read through.

MeetPi · 12/12/2022 00:02

I have a cousin with MS. Has never had any of the vaccinations and hasn't had covid. At the very start he was advised by his consultant not to have it and then it changed as time wore on but never bothered

This is an example of the pervasive kind of misinformation (or 'outright lie', whatever floats your boat) that bothers me the most. People with MS are commonly on drugs that make them more vulnerable to Covid. Depending on their current physical state, any virus or infection can worsen their MS. MS damage - that is, inflammation and scarring of the nerves of the brain and spinal cord - is irreversible.

A person with MS might see a post or posts like this and start to to think they don't require Covid vaccination - when they absolutely do. No consultant would EVER advise a patient not to have it.

JackTorrance · 12/12/2022 07:02

We're years into the vaccination programme, I'm sure those that wanted it have had it and those that didn't have not so you can probably stop banging on about "misinformation" now.

Fabulous. As you're "sure". All sorted then.

Well what do you think, that millions are still wresting with the thorny issue of having the first one? FFS.

bakebeans · 12/12/2022 13:46

im not sure you have read the post properly! As advised at the start of the pandemic some people with MS were advised not to have it or to discuss with their consultant. Not sure if you are aware but MS is different in everyone and different drugs etc are used depending on the type of MS a person has. All auto immune conditions present differently in people. Different treatment etc so again some were advised no, some people were advised to have the Pfizer. If you recall, the advice around astra zenaca changed too and that it was advised that people under 25 could only have the Pfizer.

Rather a stupid thing to say that someone reading mumsnet will decide not to have the vaccine based on a comment. Someone must be thick to do that!! I think most people would have the common sense to speak to the specialist team looking after them. It's like the aibu posts that ask should they go to a&e??
it's the persons choice at the end of the day whether they have it or not!

Misinformation is still posted on here and I'll continue to report it when it is. On the last occasion MNHQ deleted the post.

No, I read it properly. I'm most aware that MS is different in everyone - I'm one of them. I don't believe any specialist would advise a patient not to have the vaccine when available. We aren't talking different vaccines - you were suggesting no vaccines at all.

I wouldn't say people are thick to follow, for instance, what dodgy posts on MN suggest. 'Vulnerable' is a more fitting word - and it does happen.

Redhop · 12/12/2022 23:25

Never had any of the jabs, never had covid, never wore a mask and I'm busy busy every weekend and gigs, in pubs, at the football etc. Wouldn't change it

Odessafile · 13/12/2022 00:49

Wow what a star. Want a clap ?

JackTorrance · 13/12/2022 07:01

@Redhop I didn't either, at the advise of my consultant. Apparerently that's misinformation though.
Thankfully my condition continues well managed and I'm stubbornly not dead.

At the advice of your consultant. Don't be daft. course it's not.

sunglassesonthetable · 13/12/2022 07:28

It's sort of important to know what misinformation is if you're quite sure there is none on here.

So many of these 'consultants'! Do you mean you 'consulted' your hairdresser?

JackTorrance · 13/12/2022 08:17

@MeetPi thanks. It's been so lovely having my five + year health struggle sneered at by the self-righteous wheneve I've dared to mention it on here.
I can PM you his details if you like though.

TirisfalPumpkin · 13/12/2022 08:22

YANBU - in similar position (recommended boosters as disabled, had 3, don’t want another one).

Got to be a personal choice, like any other health intervention.

That must be a very rare condition you have. Sorry to hear that.

Interesting that sneering only works one way with you.

Reading back - it's not quite like that all is it? Quite the arch sneerer.

Also

There's no misinformation
People aren't worrying about wether to have the. jab ( on an actual thread discussing just that )
And 'oh dear my condition means you're saying I'm spreading misinformation'. Nope it does not.

All put forward with most sneering of tones. .

MeetPi · 13/12/2022 10:41

I was going to say that, @sunglassesonthetable, but thought I'd stay safe. Jack has been sneery for some time, as I recall.

poefaced · 13/12/2022 10:53

I still have a high level of anti bodies for Covid in my blood and I had my third and last jab over a year ago. But I know I can still get Covid.

JackTorrance · 13/12/2022 11:03

@MeetPi did you get the PM I sent you?

I'm just frustrated. I took an absolute pounding on here, using a different name, during the whole vaccine rollout thing. More fool me for posting about it, I guess, but with the whole vaccine pass thing that was being rolled out in other countries and seemed imminent here (in fact it was used in Scotland) I was badly stressed out.

So I'm still a bit reactive to the subject I guess.
