AIBU to not have the 4th covid jab ?

I've had all my covid vaccines up to date. I also had covid a few months ago.. I think I can get the next vaccine too if I want it. I was a bit surprised to be invited again..

Covid was just like a cold for me.

I'm 35, have MS ( not on any medication and I don't really have any symptoms apart from fatigue ). So no disability from it, no trouble walking or anything in my body- except fatigue.

I don't really want to have another vaccine. Is that unreasonable ?

Funnily enough i havent had any of the vaccines and havent had so much as a sniffle in the last 3 years unlike the rest of my family. I, however am seen as some sort of tin foil hat wearer for refusing to comply.

I know several people who got shingles after vax.
.
I know several who got parking tickets.

I know several that didn’t.

I think lots of people haven’t had sniffles for three years because we have spent a lot of time isolating, wearing masks, working from home and reapplying hand sanitizer.

Aprilx · 11/12/2022 13:42

I couldn’t decide whether to get my fourth covid jab, I did in the end but I have no strong view on it either way. I probably had the worst reaction from my first jab, very little after the second and third jabs and absolutely nothing after the fourth one.

sunglassesonthetable · 11/12/2022 13:43

Excess death rates have gone up not down since the vaccine roll out. We were all told so confidently that they would reduce transmission by 95% despite the fact they weren't even tested for that. Now we're told confidently that they reduce your chance of hospitalisation with the only data to support that flakey at best and only relevant for those in vulnerable age groups. The new Pfizer vaccine has been tested on 8 mice. I guess people are too invested in this now to admit it's all been a gigantic waste of money.

Complete word salad.

What you've described isn't familiar to me. I go to busy gigs most weeks, restaurants, shopping etc, I'm out and about most days and surrounded by kids, never used sanitizer and of course next to no one is wearing a mask now?

Yes but I am talking about the last three years…

Similarly to you, neither I nor the other 3 people in my home have ever had covid, luckily. Have had no cold or flu during thise couple of years up until now (had bad chest infection last week)

I had the one J&J vaccine in August 2020 but that was purely just to be able to go on holiday.

I haven't bothered with any more but also don't think any differently of those who get all vaccines. Just personal choice. No right or wrong.

Well to be fair, I caught a sniffle this June during a gloriously sunny week in a field, camping. The sniffle was covid and lasted about 2 days. Since then it's been busy busy and no further sniffles so hurray for having an immune system that's functioning well despite not having the vaccines.

zingally · 11/12/2022 14:19

If you don't want to have it - then don't.

My best friend is a pharmacist and didn't even bother with the first booster. She said that she got loads of mouth ulcers after the first two, and couldn't face another bout. I did minorly disapprove, but obviously didn't say anything to her face. It's not my place to comment on others decisions.

I had flu at the end of October, and it was much MUCH worse than the covid I had in March.

May I please ask why you disapproved? Were you worried about her?

Justellingthetruth · 11/12/2022 14:26

@clovid

i would have it

Scarfweather · 11/12/2022 14:45

I can’t face having it a 4th time. Was prepared to have the first three make me ill afterwards, which they did and I understand that’s part of the immune response. However, I went in to catch Covid (like a heavy cold) which left me with extreme post-viral fatigue and myocarditis. I’m just not willing to have jabs after that in case of a second bout/ risk of myocarditis.
I do have a scientific background and while I’m prepared to ‘follow the science’, the actual lack of proper safety research, legal protection and manipulation of data makes me uncomfortable. Pharmaceutical companies do not just ‘follow the science’, they also follow profits.

I have a cousin with MS. Has never had any of the vaccinations and hasn't had covid. At the very start he was advised by his consultant not to have it and then it changed as time wore on but never bothered

Some people are just a bit dim. Not much you can do about it.

dementedma · 11/12/2022 14:56
  1. Not having a 4th one. Never had Covid
LT2 · 11/12/2022 14:57

YANBU

I haven't had any. I've had covid twice. Coincidence or not I had covid milder, both times (once pregnant) milder than people who've been fully vaccinated. Both times I only got a runny nose. Only tested because people I had been around tested positive.

JackTorrance · 11/12/2022 15:29

Can we please move past the rudeness and sneering about whether people take these vaccines. It was shit at the time and it's long past sell-by date.

ilovesooty · 11/12/2022 16:28

I suppose people can do as they please but I'm tired of antivaxxers spreading misinformation.

Isntitakward · 11/12/2022 17:02

@ilovesooty
Apart from totally irrelevant super silly conspiracy theories from totally deranged people, what is misinformation exactly? Do you believe people can’t question things? Do you believe everyone should think and feel the same? I’ve witnessed one hardcore “pro vax” person saying “never again” after she got extremely unwell after the forth jab and ended up hospitalised. I don’t believe in any “pro” and “anti”. It is a medical treatment. We have the right to accept or refuse. I accepted the three of them, I will accept no more. Despite having three jabs and a natural immunity, I’m still sick the same way, with the same severity and symptoms. It’s not worth it for me anymore.

ilovesooty · 11/12/2022 17:09

As I said, people can do as they please. I never said otherwise, or that people can't question what is right for them. If people don't want the 4th jab then they don't want it - their choice. I'm referring to outright lies that antivaxxers post.

sunglassesonthetable · 11/12/2022 17:44

the actual lack of proper safety research, legal protection and manipulation of data makes me uncomfortable.

so this acknowledged fact is it??? I'd call it misinformation.

You sound so benign @Scarfweather but you're trotting out rubbish.

sunglassesonthetable · 11/12/2022 17:47

Luckily no one has to have the jab if they don't want it. Crack on.

But don't spread nonsense.

sunglassesonthetable · 11/12/2022 17:52

I grew up in countries where people did not have much access to vaccines and medicines. People would carry their offspring for miles to have even the chance of any vaccination. They had been face to face with much death and disease. It's influenced me a lot in my choices.

I had the 4th jab in one arm and seasonal flu in the the other arm at the same time. Easy, quick and free. I was as usual fine afterwards. And grateful.

sunnydayhereandnow · 11/12/2022 18:26

Me too. Had covid 5th vax (had 4 of the original one as per protocol where I live) in one arm and flu jab in the other. Took 5 mins and no reaction at all to either. Grateful for the availability of vaccines.
