AIBU to not have the 4th covid jab ?

I've had all my covid vaccines up to date. I also had covid a few months ago.. I think I can get the next vaccine too if I want it. I was a bit surprised to be invited again..

Covid was just like a cold for me.

I'm 35, have MS ( not on any medication and I don't really have any symptoms apart from fatigue ). So no disability from it, no trouble walking or anything in my body- except fatigue.

I don't really want to have another vaccine. Is that unreasonable ?

Nope ! The sooner we stop being sheep and just get on with life the better

Stupid logic. “Getting on with life” means the occasional booster jab.

Mummadeze · 30/09/2022 07:10

I’ve had two, had covid twice, definitely not having another vaccine.

muddlingthrou · 30/09/2022 07:13

It's a bit short sighted. You don't know how another covid infection might affect you - I know plenty of people that had much worse experiences the second time around, and one that even developed long covid. It would seem to me common sense to keep your immunity topped up.

Yanbu. I've had no covid vaccines, waste of time and money.

That is a very inflammatory statement.

You can't argue that death rates from covid have reduced significantly since the vaccine was introduced.

I had my fourth a couple of weeks ago. I felt fine the day after apart from a sore arm, but the day after that I felt out of sorts and had a headache. I had the same symptoms with jab no 2.
Jab no 2 was astra, as was the first.
Jab no 3 was Pfizer.
Jab no 4 was moderna.
Fortunately I've never had covid.

5zeds · 30/09/2022 07:32

Balancing up the risks is exactly what your Drs have done and concluded you are safer with a booster. Why would you conclude differently? I don’t mean that in a “who are you to question the Drs?” way. I mean what’s the extra info that makes you jump the other way.

Barnowl25 · 30/09/2022 07:40

I have had 3. Was incredibly ill after all three, freezing cold for weeks and still not 100% warm. I am constantly cold despite the hot summer we have had.

I can't bear the thought of inflicting that level of feeling so unwell on myself again for a vaccine that doesn't fully protect me.

OldEvilOwl · 30/09/2022 07:45

YANBU. I had covid for the second time a few weeks after having my booster last year. I'll have them to make travel easier but not going to bother otherwise

AirFryerNinja · 30/09/2022 07:51

The point of the jabs isn't to prevent you catching covid, but to reduce the severity of the symptoms and possible death.
I don't understand how some people don't understand this.
The only reason I had mine is so I could and can travel.

LifeOnATrain · 30/09/2022 08:16

@Barnowl25 they also made me freezing cold and I'm one of those people who is never cold. I couldn't get my feet warm for weeks.

LifeOnATrain · 30/09/2022 08:17

Do you need 4 jabs for travel? I thought it was still only 3 for most places.

Scianel · 30/09/2022 08:20

Most places have dropped covid vaccination as an entry criteria now. The US still has this in place but I believe only requires the initial two-vaccine course.

I had my first one for travel reasons, along with the second.
I don't think the third and fourth are necessary for travel though.

VanillaImpulse · 30/09/2022 08:38

People say the vaccines have reduced hospitalisations and serious illnesses omitting the fact that the virus mutated to a weaker variant so is not as bad as it was at the beginning!
Also the jabs now do not protect against the current BA.5 variant, they are made for BA.2. They say it protects slightly towards that variant but why not make on for BA.5? Probably because by the time they do we will be onto BA.7!!

This is why we don't have vaccines for the current cold because it mutates too quickly!

You need your first and second for entry to the Netherlands, although it's not always checked at the border. ( Airport border )

I had three covid jabs and I was really ill with covid the two times I have had it. I don't really see the point in having it now xxx

This thread is fascinating, showing the way opinions have changed over the last 18 months to two years.

It's convenient that there's no actual way of knowing whether the jab has reduced the severity of your symptoms or not. For the vast majority of younger-than-70 and non-vulnerable people, Covid was always going to be mild – this was made clear to us right at the start. But people seem to have forgotten this and the balance tipped in favour of continued multiple vaccines that were likely unnecessary/ineffective for most.

Those who have arbitrarily stopped at two or three vaccines and are now out of step with medical advice, how do you feel about now being considered every bit as unvaccinated, for many purposes (travel, some jobs etc) as those who never took any Covid vaccines?

happyinherts · 30/09/2022 08:46

I asked a retired doctor friend about jab No 4 yesterday and whether I should have it. (I'm over 50). His response....

They are based on a new technology .. Mrna ...Mrna jabs are something brand new that came in the covid crisis and are unlike anything used before. There is currently uncertainty as to whether they cause inflammation type issues particularly heart issues .. They appear to have much higher side effect rates than normal jabs. For all we know there might be a side effect of mrna jabs that takes years to show up .. But we won't know until the years have gone by..

I'm really surprised at the number of people putting their foot down at the thought of having to get another vaccine. It's quite refreshing to see people starting to wake up to this utter nonsense. They don't work. There are serious risks that were firstly denied and now starting to come out of the woodwork.

The people that chose to question their safety and decided against getting them during the first round were bullied, called disgusting things, labelled anti-vaxers, had friendships ruined, banned from social media platforms and silenced. And now so many people saying enough is enough.

I have a question for those of you who are saying no to this booster - how would you feel if in 6 months you were all considered unvaccinated and you were risking the health of the entire country by mixing in public. You were banished from some public places, and barred from going on holiday unless you were forced to get the jabs required (could be one or more) to bring you up to 'fully vaccinated' status again?

Seems pretty bonkers doesn't it??

I must admit I have been on the fence a bit about having the 4th jab. This comment and others on this thread have convinced me. I will most definitely be taking up the offer.

ClaudineClare · 30/09/2022 08:50

Oh god, not this nonsense again.

Ah yes, that well known social media site for publishing scientifically peer reviewed articles.

They don't work.

Of course they work. We still don’t know enough about covid, but the fact that death rates have plummeted can’t all be attributed to the mutation of the virus.

I find that scary I have a heart condition and inflammatory issues already, I’ll speak to my dr before booking a booster.

ilovesooty · 30/09/2022 09:16

The very fact that death rates have fallen so much is, I'm sure, down to widespread vaccination. It seems common sense to me to take up any offer to keep one's immunity topped up. Apart from a very, very mild feverish feeling after the 3rd jab I've had no reaction to any of the vaccines, including the most recent one.

That also goes for the flu jabs and vaccination against pneumonia and shingles.

I've had covid once, last May, pretty mildly.

happyinherts · 30/09/2022 09:19

@Darcy101 Thing is, no one really knows. My GP friend retired during Covid but still works in GP admin. He's not going to have this booster jab, but does wholeheartedly recommend the flu jab.
