AIBU to not have the 4th covid jab ?

I've had all my covid vaccines up to date. I also had covid a few months ago.. I think I can get the next vaccine too if I want it. I was a bit surprised to be invited again..

Covid was just like a cold for me.

I'm 35, have MS ( not on any medication and I don't really have any symptoms apart from fatigue ). So no disability from it, no trouble walking or anything in my body- except fatigue.

I don't really want to have another vaccine. Is that unreasonable ?

Can’t wait to get mine/CEV husband’s. Mean we can live our lives. Will happily have two every year forevermore (happily pay too, if required because they’re so important).

do what suits you 🤷‍♀️

iekanda · 30/09/2022 09:33

The thing is, if you had an antibody drip, you can't be sure how ill covid could have made you without it.

I've had 3 jabs and have had covid twice. The 2 bouts of covid were very different. Delta took me 2-3 weeks to feel better. With Omicron I felt better much sooner 5-7 days. But I could not clear the remaining lung irritation for 8 weeks.

I'm desperate for my 4th jab!

orzoisorange · 30/09/2022 09:43

"You can't be sure how ill Covid would have made you without it." No, you can't, but the overwhelming likelihood, unless you're old or CV is... not very.

The fact that many governments, including our own, have started paying out for Covid vaccine damages suggests to me the risk-benefit ratio, for those who are healthy, needs to be very carefully considered.

xogossipgirlxo · 30/09/2022 09:59

Do what you want. I had covid and then two jabs few months after and I'm done with this topic. Not going to get any boosters.

There have been 1681 claims so far and a handful of those claims have been succesful so far. Around 150 million doses of vaccine have been given in the UK. I am sure you can do the maths.

Don't they say generally it's supposed to be milder if / when you get it again ?

That will rather depend on the variant you get. I'm currently in my first bout of Covid (became poorly last Friday, was still positive yesterday though my symptoms have never been worse than an average cold/cough) but my partner - who became ill and tested positive several days before me - had completely different symptoms (intense diarrhoea, persistent, debilitating nausea, extreme fatigue, joint pain, cough).

I'm 64 and will have jab number 4 as soon as I'm able to. This virus is far too tricky and unpredictable to take for granted.

RampantIvy · 30/09/2022 10:51

I doubt if anyone who sources vaccination information from Instagram would be able to.

Ambertonix · 30/09/2022 11:02

Not read the whole thread yet so it may have been mentioned already but have you watched the new documentry "Safe And Effective - A Second Opinion" on youtube? No MSM have picked it up (surprise, surprise) but it is very shocking and really makes you think. Fortunately i didnt have any of the jabs and to be honest im very relieved but then again i have never had covid either so who knows how it would have affeceted me if i had. Very thought provoking though.

ilovesooty · 30/09/2022 11:13

If everyone had decided not to be vaccinated I doubt we'd be where we are now, and it seems important to me that engagement is maintained.

People will of course make their own choices but no one I know has said they won't be taking up the 4th vaccine.

My point is, for a healthy non-vulnerable person, why would you even want to take that risk, considering your minute risk from the virus itself?

MrsFezziwig · 30/09/2022 11:19

clovid · 30/09/2022 06:05

Also if you've already had 3 vaccines and have had covid, your body does remember having covid.

You may not have antibodies flying around at all times l actively, but when your body encounters covid again, it will remember and make new antibodies from memory. ( T cell immunity ) I am no expert on this though obvs.

But everyone is talking about it like having covid and 3 vaccines means you have NO immunity at all. I don't think that's that's true.

There seems to be a range of opinions on this thread, so who is “everyone”? I haven’t seen that at all. But nothing like a good sweeping statement.

I had such a bad headache after the third one. It was really scary. I also had antibody treatment when I actually had covid, just to cover all bases.

A headache is also a covid symptom. I currently have covid and have had a dreadful headache 24/7 since Monday when I started.
If you had antibody treatment then you don't really know how covid would have affected you. That's fine if the treatment is always available, do you ever travel?

Of course you don't have to have the booster, though I suspect it's cheaper for the NHS than antibody treatment.

Just for the record I qualify for anti virals but have had 5 vaccines and covid before so declined the anti virals. I've been ill but not feared for my life like I did the first time I had covid.

Ah, Instagram, that well known medical research site.

The risk of ill effects from the vaccine is far far lower than the risk from covid. It is unlikely I would die from covid, but healthy people have suffered for months afterwards. Plus I want to help protect others.

You want to help protect others – do their own vaccinations not work, then?

The vaccine reduces my risk of getting covid, thus reducing my risk of getting it and passing it on. We all know that having the vaccine does not completely eradicate the chances of getting covid.

Do you not know how how vaccines work, then? Particularly in the development of herd immunity?

Yes, it's terrible that those who've suffered severe side effects and the families of those that died have been ignored.

There are more people shown here, who discuss what their reactions were and how difficult it has been to find help and support. It was a very difficult thing to watch.

I have nothing but sympathy for those affected. But the getting the vaccine is still safer than getting covid. It is a sad fact that all medicines have the potential to harm or kill, nothing is completely safe.

sunglassesonthetable · 30/09/2022 12:43

I wouldn’t touch those jabs for a million pounds.
There are so many people having cardiac issues after them, it will be horrific over winter I fear especially as people are having the flu shot at the same time.
It’s disgraceful how people are guinea pigs for this trial yet most are totally oblivious.
Health can never be injected.

It's disgraceful how people who clearly have not a jot of medical training go on sites and try to stir up trouble. What complete nonsense.
😁😁😁😁😁😁😁👍🏻😂

I'm assuming you failed GCSE maths then.

The percentage of vaccinated people who suffered from cardiac issues compared to the number of people who died from covid or have suffered from long covid is miniscule.

But don't let the facts get in the way of ignorance.
