To prefer Goose to Maverick?

I watched Top Gun Maverick yesterday and decided to watch the original Too Gun this evening. I know Maverick is the heartthrob, but I would much rather have Goose

I prefer goose too! The actor played the lovely dr greene in ER also loved him there too.

My dogs are Goose and Mitch (Maverick is Pete Mitchell, Maverick is too much of a mouthful) Goose is my wee heart dog, like the character. 🥰

TC looks so much better in the recent one. Looks far better as a rugged, older chap than he did as a squeaky clean, smarmy youth.

I’d choose Goose every time over Maverick and Mark Green was so much better than Doug Ross.

I haven't seen Romeo and Juliet on screen, so I don't know about the actors, but it was Mercutio's humour that did it for me on the page in English Lit. Romeo was such a drip! I can't remember much about Tybalt but I can imagine that the casting makes a big difference.

Despite not being a Tom Cruise fan, I did enjoy him in Maverick. Now watching the original, he looks like a scrawny schoolboy and Kelly McGillis is his glamorous teacher . She is so beautiful and I don't think she would look twice at him. Just waiting for the most awkward sex scene in movie history 🫣

I've just found ER! Can't believe how young Doug Ross looks! I remember having quite a crush on Carter, Benton and Liuka!

I adore er, its such a rollercoaster of emotions and it tackled so many issues that were ahead of its time. Like HIV positive doctors, gay marriage, drug addiction in the workplace etc.

I cried buckets when Dr greene died. And yes, definitely Goose over Maverick!

Thing is, Maverick was a twat and everyone told him he was. He wasn’t allowed to just twat about being a twat. Goose was a nice young man, but Maverick was lush. And is still lush in the new film. I know Tom Cruise is a bona fide weirdo, but he has the most joyous smile in those films.
