Phantom kicks to the point DH can feel them

I've been getting baby like movements in the past week, really strong kick type feelings to the point if DH puts his hand on my belly he can feel 4/5 little kicks within 10 seconds when it's happening.

I've been getting my period each month so I really don't think I'm pregnant. But on the other hand I doubt gas or any other internal movements would occur this much over the whole week. I've had 3 DC, youngest is 1 and it feels exactly like pregnancy and a baby kicking. I can even see the movements in my belly.

What on earth is going on?!
AIBU to be certain I'm not pregnant?

Take a test!!

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 23/09/2022 13:22

You can be pregnant and have periods, it’s rare but can happen. Have you tested?

HuwEdwardsraisedeyebrow · 23/09/2022 13:22

ErmineAndPearls · 23/09/2022 13:22

Do a pregnancy test today! But you’re probably not pregnant. I had similar and it turned out to basically be constipation. All-Bran changed my life!

Yes, this happened to my mum!

FlibbertyGiblets · 23/09/2022 13:29

The only way you could be certain to be not pregnant would be to have abstained since your youngest was born. So go and do a test.

OhDeniseReally · 23/09/2022 13:29

@ofwarren were you the phantom kicker? 😊

GraveyardStick · 23/09/2022 13:29

I’d do a pregnancy test (or ten) to make sure. I’ve read too many stories of women not knowing they’re pregnant until they go to the toilet and a baby comes out to not test!

TempName01 · 23/09/2022 13:31

Is it when you are lying down because I’ve been experiencing movement in my tummy which looks just like baby kicks but it was just my stomach or bowels moving. It’s visible not just a feeling. I’m defo not pregnant.

tonightelmowillrise · 23/09/2022 13:32

take a pregnancy test ❌
ask mumsnet ✅

🙄

Nik2015 · 23/09/2022 13:33

I had a full period while I was pregnant…it can happen!

IncompleteSenten · 23/09/2022 13:33

Muscle spasms or stool moving through your bowel perhaps.

Assuming you've done pregnancy tests and they've been negative that is.

phishy · 23/09/2022 13:36

Pregnancy tests are a £1 in Home Bargains, why wouldn't you just take a test?

MerryMarigold · 23/09/2022 13:36

Do you have any muscle separation over your abdomen. I do and I can see/ feel gas. It can be quite poky and look just like a kick!!

If not, do a pregnancy test. Actually do one anyway!

MrsLouisaJPickletops · 23/09/2022 13:36

You definitely need to test, there’s nothing to lose assist from the cost of the test! If you’re correct, then It’s negative - all good. If you’re pregnant and feeling kicks then you’re possibly 20+ weeks in and need to see a HCP as soon as you can!

laurent23 · 23/09/2022 13:38

Sorry to drip feed:

I've done a pregnancy test and this was negative. But I've heard about the hook affect and high HCG levels causing a negative test what would be a positive result. Which could be possible for me to be far enough on to the point of feeling movement.

I'm going to have to get a blood test. I was just after some opinions before I waste doctors time!

No, it was my younger brother Grin

You absolutely can not - google it.

You might have bleeding but you do not get periods.

Sidge · 23/09/2022 13:44

The hook effect is very rare.

Take another pregnancy test with your first wee of the day.

moonypadfootprongs · 23/09/2022 13:50

@Whatatimetobealivetoday actually you can! I once knew a woman who had two uterus! Some random mutation had caused her to have two one attached to each ovary. She didn't know about it until she was pregnant with I think her third child! She had had periods throughout all her pregnancies!
Odd!

Rosehugger · 23/09/2022 13:50

I had this when DD2 was small, very odd. Can only think it was indigestion, stress or perhaps endometriosis starting as I was diagnosed with it a few years later. It wasn't like a kick as such but more like the fluttering in early pregnancy, but strong and noticable, and I was definitely not pregnant.

laurent23 · 23/09/2022 13:54

@TempName01 No not just when I'm laid down, it's random throughout the day.

Due to the negative test and getting my period each month I've been convinced I'm not but the feeling is scarily similar to pregnancy movement so I thought I'd post for similar experiences and expecting to be told YANBU to put my mind at ease.

I'll do another test. And if it persists I'll go to the doctor regardless of the test to find out what's going on. Very strange.

I had this loads after Dts, it was gas.

Onlyfoolsandhorsesfan · 23/09/2022 13:56

Go to the doctors
I had this-ignored it but did do two tests-both negative
Finally my mother dragged me to the doctor for another reason and he told me I was 8 months gone
Gave birth the following week,-he's 23 now

AquaticSewingMachine · 23/09/2022 13:58

It's most likely to be gas, but if you are really concerned, you could go for a private scan. If there's anything big enough to kick in your uterus, they will for sure find it.
