Someone I know posted this, leading to a pile on of “love this”, “I’m sharing this babe” and so on.
It just seems to be a long winded “take me as you find me”.And it’s more than likely American.

What’s the attraction to this sort of thing?

What does it mean to fix a crown?

Numbat2022 · 20/09/2022 19:20

The only people I know who post stuff like that are thickos I know from school whose lives are entertaining enough to not delete.

The sisterhood thing. Supporting other women no matter how many people they scammed with the latest MLM.
Absolutely no actual successful and/or intelligent woman around me ever used that I know quite a few eith ACTUAL small businesses,😁

Its always the same few people that post these on my Facebook I just scroll past, they are also the people that share posts about a car or dog that's been missing 3 years on the other side of the world

watcherintherye · 20/09/2022 19:24

I have a friend who posts this kind of crap all the time. Along with those awful 'what does your name/face/star sign say about you' and 'your stripper name is the last thing you ate plus the colour of your top' type posts.

Sorry, but I couldn’t resist! I’m ‘Peanut Navy’ Grin

GoneWithTheWine1 · 20/09/2022 19:24

Almost as bad as PM me hun xx 🤢

MooseBreath · 20/09/2022 19:26

I'm not keen on that sort of post and wouldn't share it myself.

That said, it's not American because they used "mum" rather than "mom". Your post comes across as rather xenophobic.

People looking for likes and "you go girl" style validation. I usually unfriend them.

Meatballsforever · 20/09/2022 19:34

I know someone from work who posts this supposedly profound stuff but I find it cringeworthy 😱

AffIt · 20/09/2022 17:34

That's a lot of words to say 'hello, I'm a normal human'.

Yes, this.

Yup, me too - but for 'friend' read 'workmate !

I should delete them from friends list but I secretly like looking down at them

I have one of these. She’s forever going on about how ‘crazy’ her life is, but then will post that she’s ‘feeling thoughtful 🤔’ and it turns out to be an earth-shattering dilemma such as whether she should have a Mars bar even though she’s got Slimming World next Thursday.

oopsfellover · 20/09/2022 22:31

Cringe. And of course it’s from a woman’s perspective.

We don't usually say "mum" in America. Thanks for assuming, though.

Posters will have changed obvious things like mom to mum for UK readers.
The phrase that made me think it’s of US origin is “fix my hair”. We’re more likely to say “do my hair/style my hair.”

"Do my hair/style my hair" are also more common in the US than "fix my hair", but maybe that was changed for UK readers. Or maybe it was written by someone in the UK...

It’s up there with just posting a profile pic of yourself heavily filtered so it looks nothing like you then everyone comments jorjus and fire emojis

This reminds me of that absolutely vomititious ?marilyn monroe quote that goes along the lines of 'if you can't handle me at my worst you can't handle me at my best' ConfusedGrin

Oh, god, yes. It's 'if you can't handle me at my worst you don't deserve me at my best', which I tend to echo with a different tone of voice for 'deserve' than was intended. I don't deserve to have to deal with capricious people, who may reward me at times by graciously bestowing their 'best' on me! To be fair, Marilyn Monroe herself (if she indeed said it) may have been talking about mental health issues, but most people who quote it are basically demanding to be allowed to be capricious with others, and to be regarded as fascinating on that basis,

AlwaysLatte · 20/09/2022 23:36

I find any heartfelt type post is naff if it's been copied. Like we can't find our own words. The same reason I prefer blank birthday cards!

ddl1 · 20/09/2022 23:40

I get irritated by these memes- they're mostly harmless, I suppose; but if you want to say something deep and original about yourself, it rather contradicts the purpose to copy a meme. It would be plagiarism, if at least 90% of such memes were not so boring and badly written that no self-respecting person would wish to be acknowledged for them!

Andypandy799 · 22/09/2022 16:50

Reasons why I hate fb 101 on top of the look at me on holiday or my lovely new car
