Someone I know posted this, leading to a pile on of “love this”, “I’m sharing this babe” and so on.
It just seems to be a long winded “take me as you find me”.And it’s more than likely American.

What’s the attraction to this sort of thing?

OP posts:

Ah yes also posts the ‘I’m deleting anyone who doesn’t comment on this post’ I have strangely survived many of these supposed culls.
I tend to treat them like my kids - rewarding positive behaviour by posting replies to normal posts but ignoring the bad…

Of course. Because people who post like this are bullies. If you actually fall in with that kind of crap they recognise you as being weak.

Sexist much? I know men and women who share these and they’re both equally desperate.

Tbh this type of crap is literally a text about woman

ThreeRingCircus · 20/09/2022 17:34

Urgh, it's cringey. I can't understand the motivation for posting it either.

The motivation is to get loads of ‘U R amazin hun, don’t let ne1 tell u different xxx’ posts in response.

It’s the same with people who announce their intention to do a ‘cull’ of their friend list. They just want desperadoes to chime in with ‘Hope I make the cut, I love reading your posts, so funny/insightful/interesting’ and so on. They never just delete people without the announcement.

oakleaffy · 20/09/2022 18:24

Only a certain kind of person tends to post and share these memes- People and like easily digestible soundbites to copy.

The oldstyle type of thing were A4 paper posters saying “You don’t have to be mad to work here, but it helps”.

overnightangel · 20/09/2022 18:24

Self-important attention-seeking indulgent claptrap with no semblance of self-awareness

LifeIsaRollerCoaster1 · 20/09/2022 18:27

You OK hun? 😁

Sunnyqueen · 20/09/2022 18:29

Yeah it's weird like 'look how I different I am!' but it actually = just like everyone else.

Lunificent · 20/09/2022 17:28

This - forgot to add.

Bleugh

(I dont do emojis)

Georgeskitchen · 20/09/2022 18:32

Pathetic and cringe then a dozen others copy it
Worse are the vague "I can't believe what's happened " post followed by the predictable "inbox me Hun"
Grrrrrr I only keep FB for amusement when I'm bored 🤣

maddiemookins16mum · 20/09/2022 18:37

It is ‘usually’ women though, I can’t think of any bloke who’d post this nonsense. It’s just drivel.

GhostFromTheOtherSide · 20/09/2022 18:41

And then there are the ones about “copy and paste this if you know someone who is suffering from mental illness/cancer/<insert illness of choice” proceeded by some emotive shite about how awful it is and how only 5 of your friends will read it and how you’ll be removing anyone who does…

I actually have a friend who didn’t copy and paste one of these MH posts, someone who has genuine MH issues and she sent her a message saying she never realised what an unfeeling selfish bitch she was. Friend was really upset, I pointed out what a sad little life the woman must have to have spent time checking to see who had copied and pasted and sending all those messages.

I unfriend people who post the copy and paste shit. And if they’re close enough not to want to unfriend I tell them that it’s all meaningless crap.

bellac11 · 20/09/2022 18:46

Men dont indulge in crap like this.

For posters falling over themselves to be offended that its portrayed as women who do this, yes its women who do this

(by and large)

Hugasauras · 20/09/2022 18:48

YABU for even reading it in the first place. I'd read one word and then keep scrolling Grin

RaininSummer · 20/09/2022 18:51

It's a pile of wank. I ignore but am really tempted to block friends and family who post this bollocks.

Witchofthedales · 20/09/2022 18:54

This is one of the reasons I left Facebook, complete fucking drivel.

AesSedaint · 20/09/2022 18:54

Bubblebubblebah · 20/09/2022 17:54

I recommend to purge your SM, people. It's bliss after

But what if I wake up at 2am with an inexplicable need to know what someone I worked with five years ago is doing now? Or if I want to buy dodgy MLM aloe vera products that have been kept in someone's shed?

Okay... maybe a purge is overdue

😂 I am surprised how many people don't have private orofiles so answer to 1 is - spy😂
2 - go direct to source. Locate aloe vera shed. You could probably get a ehiff of the bullshit from quite a good distance!

ColourMeExhausted · 20/09/2022 19:05

Ugh. That one did the rounds a while ago, not surprising to see it lurching back like a half assed Michael Myers. Right down there with 'Live. Laugh. Love' and the awful 'fix each others crown's!' (grammar mistakes entirely deliberate).

Facebook is utter dross really.

ColourMeExhausted · 20/09/2022 19:06

I'd do a purge, but politically I've a lot of school mums on there and kind of need them to stay.

Wibbly1008 · 20/09/2022 19:07

Hate stuff like this on FB. Self indulgent cobblers .

Borgonzola · 20/09/2022 19:07

This reminds me of that absolutely vomititious ?marilyn monroe quote that goes along the lines of 'if you can't handle me at my worst you can't handle me at my best' ConfusedGrin

ColourMeExhausted · 20/09/2022 19:10

And I've never seen a man post this kind of thing. Not saying they don't post dross too, but it's a different kind. DH has a FB 'friend' who's male and does MLM, and keeps him around as his posts and 'just jumping onto a live!' are unintentionally hilarious.

RobertsRadio · 20/09/2022 19:11

🤮

The only possible response.

Spot on 😆

ColourMeExhausted · 20/09/2022 19:11

Ooh hate that one @Borgonzola

I know many will hate it but this is very much how I always imagined anyone.sharing that quote😂
(Note, I would think man sharing this are equally useless addition to my life)
