They’re back on…will anything be said/addressed?

I’m thinking not…

It must be awful having to come in to work after all the things over Sm, I’d hate to be famous 😫

We have cbeebies on instead... How is it?!

Hobbesmanc · 20/09/2022 10:53

I don't particularly like them- but I think it's such a nonsense story that hopefully will die down quickly. ITV have clearly stated they were there as part of their professional capacity. Dickheads like Eamon Holmes are just stirring the pot

ComtesseDeSpair · 20/09/2022 10:56

Agree with the above, total overblow of the situation. They’re TV presenters who were covering the Lying in State for a show segment, that’s why they didn’t stand in the queue. Had they been reviewing the new rollercoaster at Alton Towers they’d have been able to skip that queue, too. Plenty of professionals are able to skip usual procedures when attending something in a pre-agreed professional capacity.

PoorPaddington · 20/09/2022 10:58

@Hobbesmanc What has Eamon done 🤷🏻‍♀️

he made some snidey quip about queue jumpers on GB news

PoorPaddington · 20/09/2022 11:05

I wish Ruth & Eamon were back on it, so much more professional, entertaining and just nicer people

luxxlisbon · 20/09/2022 11:05

Who cares? Move on with your life!

User135644 · 20/09/2022 11:07

I can't stand the pair of them but it shows how bonkers the hysteria has got that they're raked over the coals over nothing. They used their privilege/press pass to queue jump to view the Queen's coffin. What do all these people think the royal family are? The ultimate in privilege of course.

Brits are so peculiar.

Sparklingbrook · 20/09/2022 11:08

There's a couple of threads already, they have powered through it.

SnoozyLucy7 · 20/09/2022 11:42

It’s not such a big deal. There’s other, more poignant matters to be outraged about.

blockpavingismynightmare · 20/09/2022 11:51

I can't watch them on TV at all no matter what they are on, together or individually. Nothing to do with queue jumping. I wish they would both just disappear from our screens

Yes there’s one about Prince Harry at the moment. 😄

I think we need to Sleb Twaddle topic back and then only the people that want to talk about these things can see them.

dutysuite · 20/09/2022 12:29

I can’t stand them, they deserve the backlash.

Prinnny · 20/09/2022 12:32

They do my head in.

Bring back Eamonn and Ruth!

Was there one? What happened to it?

Rosewaterblossom · 20/09/2022 12:33

I just caught the last bit of This Morning and Holly looks really different! She used to be bright and bubbley, now she looks on edge and like she's going to burst into tears any second.

Phil on the other hand still comes across as smug!

ReeseWitherfork · 20/09/2022 12:36

I don’t particularly care for Phil and Holly but This Morning isn’t my cup of tea so I’m probably a bit biased. However, I noticed there was a petition to have them removed and feel really sorry for them. Cancel culture on steroids! They didn’t forcefully tackle some unsuspecting members of the public to the ground to get to the front of the queue fgs.

I do think the whole thing has been blown out of proportion but the backlash has shown just how much people can't stand the pair of them. Everyone jumped on it as an excuse to slag them off. If it had been anyone else I think it would have died down now.

It didn't look good coming after the spin the wheel thing either.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 20/09/2022 12:37

Both so smug.

I don't watch it, but if you think Ruth & Eamon were MORE professional, then Phil & Holly must be really awful. I didn't mind R&E, but it was as professional as popping into theirs for a cuppa on a Saturday afternoon.

have P&H done something more than not queue to do a 'piece' for the tele?

Nesbo · 20/09/2022 12:43

Did they actually lie and say that they had queued (I don’t know any of the background to this)?

If not I don’t understand the fuss - they work for a broadcaster and got access to film something. loads of people were getting access without queuing - MP’s were allowed to take 4 guests each for a start.

Yes there used to be. It was really useful because by posting in a topic called that it was admitting it was just lighthearted chit chat about slebs and it cut out a lot of the 'who cares?' and superior comments.

i think there was a topic cull a while ago. People moaning there were too many. but let's face it everyone just posts in AIBU for traffic now anyway and takes their chances.

MrsMontyD · 20/09/2022 13:40

So what was the important piece of journalism they were filming at the lying in state?

They present a daytime TV show. I don’t think they claim to be Kate Adie or James Foley. I expect they conveyed their viewers - almost by definition retired and unemployed people who were likely unable to attend the Lying in State in person - what the atmosphere was like and how it felt to be there, in a more accessible manner than simply reading about it or imagining it.
