AIBU?
Crisps - sweet or savoury?
strawberry2017 · 18/09/2022 21:29
One of us in the household thinks that crisps are savoury/snacks and the other thinks they are classed as sweets/confectionary
Thoughts?

The person who thinks they're sweets has got something seriously wrong with their taste buds!
XenoBitch · 18/09/2022 21:31
Savoury!
Have a look in the supermarket aisles for confectionary and crisps.... totally different places.
GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 18/09/2022 21:32
What fecking lunatic thinks crisps are savoury?!

What fecking lunatic thinks crisps are savoury?!
Um, most people.
96Queen · 18/09/2022 21:34
well I'd class them as the same kind of snack as sweets, chocolate, flavoured nuts, chocolate raisins etc..
But I guess they taste savoury
toastofthetown · 18/09/2022 21:34
Usually savoury, but I've had honey butter crisps and condensed milk corn snacks, which are delicious and also sweet.
GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 18/09/2022 21:35
Yep. Had a couple of drinks. Meant "what fecking lunatic thinks crisps are sweet?!"
Or "what fecking lunatic thinks crisps aren't savoury?!"
Feel silly now.

All of those things fall into the wider category of 'junk food', but nuts and crisps are savoury, sweets and chocolate are confectionery.

You've given me stranger ick.
Of course crisps are savoury - hence the flavours. Maybe they think sweets because you can buy them in 'sweet shops'?

I love the silliness of this 🤣 I know it was a mistake but it has really made me giggle!
JenniferBarkley · 18/09/2022 22:34
Savoury, BUT, fulfill the same purpose as sweets and chocolate. In comparison to, say, crackers and cheese which do not.
queenmeadhbh · 18/09/2022 23:25
If someone offered me some sweets and then produced a bag of Walkers Sensations I would be v confused
