I was today years old when I realised Princess Anne should be Queen

She's the eldest child. The law has changed now.
Even Zara Philips is behind her little brother in line to the throne. Wtf.

OP posts:
Mangledrake · 18/09/2022 07:32

She should be where Andrew is in the line of succession. Andrew should move down to Edward's slot and Edward should be where Anne is. Louise should move up one place to be ahead of James. But no major difference.

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 18/09/2022 07:35

Louise and Peter were born before 2013 when Succession to the Crown Act came in to place

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 18/09/2022 07:36

*James not Peter! (I have cousins called Louise and Peter and they are definitely not royal!)

needthiswilderness · 18/09/2022 07:38

Can’t get my head around posting this without being 100% sure it was true 😂 maybe delete now OP as bit embarrassing!

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 18/09/2022 07:42

So you mean you were today years old (ridiculous phrase btw) when you realised you don't know anything about Royals and sucession?

MinnieMountain · 18/09/2022 07:43

How old are you OP?

Enko · 18/09/2022 07:44

monkeysox · 18/09/2022 07:32

Thanks for explaining @PuttingDownRoots
So if Anne had been older than Charles (which I realise she isn't) he would have been first in line anyway?

Correct

And Louise is under James due to the act ot having been changed yet. Same reason Anne is below her brothers

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 18/09/2022 07:44

Ah come on now leave op alone, it’s early.

bbcdefg · 18/09/2022 07:46

This thread 😕

nachoavocado · 18/09/2022 07:46

I mean tbh it would be great if Andrew was moved all the way to the bottom of the line of succession but unfortunately we're stuck with it

FitAt50 · 18/09/2022 07:47

Google, GOOGLE. That's all.

EbbyEbs · 18/09/2022 07:48

Wow people get angry so easily on here! 😂 god forbid someone make a mistake! Take her outside and shoot her immediately!! 😂

OP … I didn’t know that women were bypassed in succession either, I always assumed if Charles died that Anne would be heir. I learnt off mumsnet a few days ago that that wasn’t the case due to this outdated rule.

It’s funny because you can learn so much from Mumsnet, it’s just a shame some people have to be cunts about it ☺️

grayhairdontcare · 18/09/2022 07:50

You ABVU not knowing how Google works

BruhWhy · 18/09/2022 07:51

If literally all portrayals of Charles are true, he's a spoilt, whiny little shit and on that basis alone Anne would be better suited to the role, quite apart from the fact she seems to be levelheaded and unbothered by status.

But even if she was the eldest she wouldn't have been queen. That rule was only recently overturned before the birth of Charlotte.

Has nobody watched the crown?

Not any more - the order of succession was changed in 2013. But its a really complex legal (and ancient) set of rules, so it was changed from that point on.

AFS1 · 18/09/2022 07:52

As others have said, it’s now changed but only for Prince George’s generation. So if George died, Charlotte would be his successor. Previously, it would have gone straight to Louis.

Well no, regardless of the male/female rules of succession for them, if Charles died, William would be king because it passes down his line as soon as he has children. After William will be George, then all of his children, then Harry and all of his children before it would go to the next of the queen's children....

@EbbyEbs your comment is (extremely ironically) the most angry and abusive on here, so check yourself.

Tillsforthrills · 18/09/2022 07:54

Agree with she would be a good Queen.

I’m not the one bullying OP for making a mistake 😂

If Charles died when? If Charles had died at any point in the past 40 years it would have gone to William, regardless of rules about women coming after their brothers.
Or do you mean died as a child/young man?

Of course, I meant if Charles had died before he had kids

Yes I meant if he died before he had kids

EbbyEbs · 18/09/2022 07:57

As an aside, Anne would make a brilliant queen. I’m not sure she’d actually want it however.

ReneBumsWombats · 18/09/2022 07:57

She should be Queen because she's the best of the four of them and we need more sarcastic, no-nonsense women who piss off Princess Michael on the throne.

But that's not how hereditary monarchy works.
