To think Prince Harry should now do whatever it takes to cancel his book contract?

And withdraw his book?

A rapprochement looks possible if he meets the RF halfway.

Stormzy, would imagine every member of the armed services will have ER removed from their insignia and replaced with CR.

Thanks @Rapidtango I would expect that to take place at some point but, I think the jist of what the 'friend' has alluded to is that it was removed from PH uniform for the vigil but not from others.

If true and there isn't a genuine reason for this then I can understand his upset but as I said it needs to be saved for later, this is not the time.

mumsneedwine · 18/09/2022 11:01

How does everyone know about this invite, as I've only seen it mentioned by that Omid bloke and in the DM. Official sources saying no invite was ever sent as it is a working royal event and only working royals are going. Why would Harry want to go - sounds hideous to me, talking to a bunch of complete strangers for hours. Surely they left the RF to get away from doing these things ?
Some story in DM now about H losing the ER insignia on his uniform. But he must know the rules (although he didn't know the title ones for his kids on Oprah). You only get to wear ER on shoulder if working in that post, and he didn't want to do that, he wanted to leave. Fair enough.
I find it all very strange. He seems to want some bits of being royal but not others. Not sure any job works like that.
Wish them all the best, hope that have a fantastic, happy life? But please stop dragging down your family, and in some cases your country, in public. Whatever happened to be kind - works both ways.

It's only a 'disinvitation' according to Omid Scobie. But it was only an invitiation according to him.

Oh dear god, I hadn't realised he was the source for this - in which case all bets are probably off Hmm

The way Meghan has been portrayed in the media is disgusting. Harry should carry on as he planned and continue to prioritise his life with Meghan and the children.

The way they’ve both acted is disgusting. The Oprah Winfrey interview was awful. Why would he do that to his family? Harry should carry on and prioritise his wife and children but he doesn’t have to throw his own family under the bus in the process.

Dinoteeth · 18/09/2022 11:29

StormzyinaTCup · 18/09/2022 10:20

I expect Scobie received an inaccurate piece of info or made it up regarding the invite.

We are now hearing that a 'friend' of the couple has spoken to The Times about PH having ER removed from his uniform and says 'He is heartbroken. To remove his grandmother’s initials feels very intentional.'

No idea if that is true or if there was a reason behind it but again another leak when the focus should be about his Granny not about him.

Save it for later.

Surely the ER thing goes because ER isn't at the top it's CR, will all military uniforms not change?
Along with those trumpeters in the gold coats?

Meghan would recollect that world leaders were spellbound by her presence and people in their countries danced with joy on the occasion of the wedding.
I don't think they were ever invited. Why would they be?

@Watapalava the point is that, once some people realised she was mixed racist, there was a section of the press and the public who started in with the racism. The daily Mail examples about Compton arc have been shared a lot. Danny Baker lost his job for his pathetic effort. It did happen. It obviously upset both Harry and Meghan a lot.

Nevertheless, being at war with his own dad and brother, neither of whom have been accused of racism, isn’t going to help their mental health.

The “straight out of Compton” piece was written by an American journalist I believe. I didn’t even know what it meant at the time, most people in the uk won’t know what “Compton” is!

Indeed. Plus the opportunity to meet a large number of high profile and influential people.

It was spelt out VERY CLEARLY in the DM.

Crime gangs, drug gangs, murders and robberies.
Please do not try and excuse that disgusting piece of journalism

HRTQueen · 18/09/2022 11:35

The editors at the Daily Mail knew straight outta Compton was a slur that’s why they printed it

One of the main reasons I dislike the monarchy is that the people in it are expected never to speak about their experiences. It’s wrong.

LondonWolf · 18/09/2022 11:37

Lots of rumours flying round today as to why they've parted ways with Sunshine Sachs - IF they have. Won't link as I never do unless 100% reliable. Does make me wonder though if the RF know through their own media contacts that everything isn't rosy for H&M so are trying to give them an escape route plus save their own skins from Harry and Meghan's Loose Lips.

William has looked so disengaged from his royal duties since before covid that this week of being on form doesn’t cut it for me. I get the impression he also wants out. I find it very difficult to imagine him or George ascending the throne.

mumsneedwine · 18/09/2022 11:44

@MondaysChild7 talking about your experiences is not something anyone would have a problem with I think.
Trashing your family on Oprah is something else. Especially when your supposedly beloved grandad is dying.
And the odd 'your own truths' didn't endear them to anyone. South Africa did not treat the wedding like Mandela. And titles are given in accordance with v old laws - Harry must have known this - not on colour.
They could do so much good for Mental Health if they'd just stick to the facts. What even is 'my truth', surely it's true or not. Opinions differ, truth doesn't.

eatingapie · 18/09/2022 11:45

Tbf I’m the wrong audience for this thread as I saw pictures of James Viscount Severn, 14, doing that vigil and just thought - god this is such bollocks. Previously I’d seen a bit of the live stream and noticed Savannah and Isla Phillips and Mia and Lena Tindall on that viewing platform and wondered what the af was going on. It’s completely baffling to me that people are into it.

He looks the opposite to me - meeting and mixing, chatting with the crowds. Obviously by the coffin or at services looking solemn.

I wonder how they would have been greeted by the Trudeau's, who were 'friends' in her Toronto days.

His wife and children ARE his family.

Why should he show more loyalty to random women who happened to marry relatives of his, than to his own family? Camilla and Kate are not Harry's family. Even his own blood relatives come below his immediate family. In most families, your wife and children are more important than your siblings and grandparents. Or they're supposed to be. Yet people talk as though Harry's "family" are his grandmother and sister-in-law, and Meghan is just some irritation. She's his wife, she's his family, she's his main priority.

Neither of them "trashed" anyone on Oprah.

The RF have "trashed" Meghan a thousand times more by spending several years constantly leaking nasty stories and rebuttals about her to the tabloids.

It's honestly disgusting. Meghan was silenced for years while those around her trashed her non-stop and leaked every single private thing she did, and made up some lies for good measure. Meghan spoke out once and barely said anything, and suddenly she's the bad guy and framed as someone who can't stop speaking when she's barely spoken at all.

I think you must be like Sleeping Beauty and just woken up, if you missed so much! No trashing on Oprah? Come on. How could Meghan have been 'silenced' for years - she was only around for three years. Spoke out once? It's been non stop drivel since 2019.

mumsneedwine · 18/09/2022 11:59

@TheWheeledAvenger can I just how you know all this. That the RF have leaked stories. The press are scum, we know that, but who has leaked what ? Where is the proof - is it that Omid man again (who is he ?).
Charles walked M down the aisle so hardly looked like he didn't want her in the family.
Not sure why anyone would do an Oprah interview to just give your side, knowing you'd cause pain to your supposedly beloved grandparents. Be angry about it, talk to the people involved, and then move in and live your life.

mumsneedwine · 18/09/2022 12:02

My favourite quote, which is verified, was the Queen saying 'recollections may differ'. The Lion King South African director may also feel this too 😊.

Bacibaci · 18/09/2022 12:14

The other issue is the future. Issuing new LP saying the grandchildren of a monarch are no longer entitled to HRH means that Charlotte and Louis' children likely won't be HRHs.

The Norwegian and Swedish Royal Families who have slimmed down the number of working royals and the titles that go with it still keep the titles for all the grandchildren of the heir.

mumsneedwine · 18/09/2022 12:22

If I was Charlotte or Lois I'd be thrilled. Look at Zara and Peter, they seem much happier than those with posh titles. Anne knew what she was doing 40 odd years ago.
