The Queen's passing is sad and seismic and the funeral will be a special occasion.

However, people genuinely seem to have gone mad.

"Yes, a lot of money is being spent on this.
But a lot of money in the form of tourism is being made"

I bet it isn't, more than usual.

Of course it is. There are hundreds of world leaders in London for a start. They’re not staying in a Premier Inn or eating Macdonalds.

I think if we are depending on the royal family to keep this country afloat, we are living in cloud cuckoo land. No doubt the influx of dignitaries from across the world and the large number of "ordinary" people attending has boosted businesses in and around London. but what has it done for the rest of the country? Ceremonial occasions of this magnitude don't often happen and it's back to normality - and reality - tomorrow.

Just wondering what the newspapers will write tomorrow as it's been pretty much the same thing for the past 11 days.

I agree with the comment that the death of Diana was treated with more ‘hysteria’. However, the reaction to the Queens passing is entirely out of proportion - the way media is saying that she was the No 1 Philanthropist, Fashion Icon etc is just not true. You can be fond of the Queen and still not buy in to the obsession that has/is taking place I think it shows the sad state UK and a lot of people are in - one last chance to grasp ‘greatness’ maybe?

The Captain Tom death reaction was quite hysterical thinking back.

Absolutely everything about the Captain Tom phenomenon was hysterical and ridiculous. I think everyone’s brains must have been addled by lockdown.

Yet here you are OP, 3 full days after the funeral, STILL chuntering on about it.

How ironic.
