The Queen's passing is sad and seismic and the funeral will be a special occasion.

However, people genuinely seem to have gone mad.

No

Hellocatshome · 16/09/2022 19:21

I havent gone mad, hope that helps.

Canthinkofaname79 · 16/09/2022 19:21

Yes!

VladmirsPoutine · 16/09/2022 19:21

Yanbu. Everytime I come across something which makes me think we've peaked, a few minutes later I see something else which reminds me we haven't. It's actually very unnerving.

Butchyrestingface · 16/09/2022 19:22

I'm not hysterical Scottish.

Sandysandwich · 16/09/2022 19:22

No,
Some people are sad, some people are very sad, a few people are a bit dramatic in their sadness.

It is not difficult to ignore it.

Discwriter · 16/09/2022 19:22

No but I'm sure the media is.

ForfuckssakeEXHstopbeingatwat · 16/09/2022 19:22

Haven't seen a single example of hysteria. Lots and lots of people wanting to show respect to the passing of a hugely symbolic individual. Your post snacks more of hysteria and hyperbole than what I've seen.

Pumperthepumper · 16/09/2022 19:23

Yes, it’s insane. People actually leaving food to rot during a cost of living crisis because a public servant once did a skit with a green screen.

NuffSaidSam · 16/09/2022 19:23

I don't know anyone who's gone mad. The queueing to shuffle past her coffin is mad, but I think there's always been people who were mad like that, I don't think that's new or hysterical.

Hbh17 · 16/09/2022 19:23

No. For those of us who remember the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, that was a much more volatile time which (arguably) could have been described as "mass hysteria".
The current sadness for The Queen is far more calm and measured.

GreenLunchBox · 16/09/2022 19:23

I saw a story about a woman who took her mum's ashes to see the queen's coffin. 👀

It's scary. Like a form of mass psychosis.

No, just going through the motions that Brits usually do when a monarch dies

Hawkins001 · 16/09/2022 19:24

All depends on how you define the meaning and context of mad, @User135644

What do you think the cause is, OP?

ParkheadParadise · 16/09/2022 19:25

Aye

wonkylegs · 16/09/2022 19:25

There is some insanity however I'm not sure it's as widespread as the media would have us believe.

Hawkins001 · 16/09/2022 19:25

Subliminal programming, could be a factor @NewBootsAndRanty

L1f30fp1 · 16/09/2022 19:25

Wow you’re seeing something different to what I’m seeing- people patiently waiting and filing past a coffin respectfully silent.Haven’t seen any hysteria.

Northernsoullover · 16/09/2022 19:26

No.

Frances658 · 16/09/2022 19:26

Everyone I know is behaving perfectly normally. Still going to work, still living their lives, no-one I know has got in a que to see the Queen’s coffin. But some people have gone a bit mad yes, and those are the people on the news. But it’s by no means everyone. The media make this whole event out to be much much bigger than it actually is in people’s lives IMO. They’re only interviewing the die hards, and I think most people are bored of the constant coverage by now tbh.

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 16/09/2022 19:26

No but I've seen many people paying respect to their monarch of 70 years. How people choose to pay respect is personal to them.

MarshaBradyo · 16/09/2022 19:26

No but when Monday’s over these mass hysteria posts will be too. I won’t miss those

Fairislefandango · 16/09/2022 19:27

I haven't seen any hysteria tbh. I tut inwardly a bit when I go onto the BBC website and the first 73 stories are about the queen's death. A few people on my social media have posted pretty restrained comments about it being sad that she's gone. A few people at work said they were going to watch the funeral on tv. That's about all I've seen. But I'm not interested, so I don't go looking for coverage or opinions about it all.
