Moby Dick!

Hope this isn't a spoiler, but there is definitely sex in The Queen's Gambit.

Suggestion - Apollo 13.

Welcome to Wrexham on Disney+

There's no sex in Friday Night Dinner but lots of references to it, jokes about it, etc.

The first ep literally has that grim scene of her jacking him off.

@BigFatLiar

Come now. Compo's lusting after Nora Batty would have OP clutching her pearls.

Maybe she just wants some TV to watch with her older kids that hasn't got rape scenes every 5 minutes. When kids outgrow CBeebies it becomes harder to find things without sex and violence.

Romance is a pretty major driver and there's sex in season 1.

UkuleleRose · 27/09/2022 03:37

Corner Gas - Canadian sitcom. Hysterical and Uber family friendly.

Boxowine · 27/09/2022 03:53

Avenue 5. It was a great lockdown binger.

Most of star trek

Mmm, not really.

I've just finished rewatching series 4 of The Next Generation. Of the last 5 episodes I watched, one focused mainly on Troi's mother falling madly in love with an alien scientist (who is culturally expected to ritually kill himself in a few days) trying to fix his planet's sun, another on Dr Crusher falling madly in love with a peace negotiator (who turns out to be a giant parasitic caterpillar controlling a host body, and suddenly needs a new host), and another on Data trying to have his first romantic relationship, which doesn't go well since he's an android and can't experience emotions — oh and there's also some space anomaly happening.

Usually any sex is only implied in Star Trek, but all of the ST series I've watched have romance plots in them somewhere, with snogging and innuendo and romantic stuff, to one extent or another. Films maybe a bit less. In the three TNG episodes I described, the (albeit sci-fiey) romance is definitely the A-plot ,while the failing sun, peace negotiations, and space weirdnesses are the B-plots and are barely noticeable.

FurryDandelionSeekingMissile · 27/09/2022 04:21

This is way more difficult a request than I'd realised it would be — it's kind of hard to think of things aimed at adults, or even teens, that don't have quite a lot of romance and/or sex in them.

Someone mentioned Doctor Who, but the last episode of that I watched had a scene where one of the companions is pissed off at getting cockblocked (well, the female equivalent) by the Pope, and a scene where the Doctor encourages her to call the woman who (in another reality) had been scared off, telling her that she's not out of her league.

Father Brown doesn't have much sex or romance, I don't think, though there are relationship-based mysteries in them — but to be honest our media is so saturated with sex and romance, it's easy not to notice or remember it.

I don't remember much romance in One Foot In The Grave?

LuckyStone · 27/09/2022 14:39

Sherlock Holmes

Lullabies2Paralyze · 27/09/2022 14:43

@MbatataOwl van helsing tv show DOES have romance. Not sure about first season but definitely later on. No full on sex scenes but lots of romantic relationships going on

Lullabies2Paralyze · 27/09/2022 14:49

My partner just watched Prey (the newest predator). Don’t think there was any sex or romance from what I remember (I watched it out the corner of my eye as was busy doing other stuff).

also just watched Bill and Ted face the music…they are married so occasionally kiss their wives and tell them they love them but the plot isn’t romantic and there wasn’t any sex.

WhatHaveIFound · 27/09/2022 14:56

These are what I've been watching on iPlayer lately...

Defending the Guilty
Ladhood
Us
Mum

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/09/2022 14:59

Fawlty Towers
Father Ted (no sex, next to no romance)
Ghosts? I suppose you might say there is a some romance there.

The fabulous 1950s Ealing comedy - The Ladykillers. My other huge favourite from that studio, Kind Hearts and Coronets, has a strong romantic element to the plot, but handled in such a dark way that it might pass muster.

All creatures great and small, the new one on channel 5. It's wonderful.

Romance features heavily, however.

BigFatLiar · 27/09/2022 17:58

Depends on who's watching and what level of romance

This evening on BBC 4 you can get
Keeping up appearances and Ever decreasing circles, both gentle comedies but as the main couples are married there's obviously a ldvel of romance.
Death in paradise is on as is Stargate SG1
