god, i have to say i think they are so funny. there are some very clever people on here who are very quick minded.

the question i put to you is...

if everyone on mn had a fight, who would win and why?

Monkeytrousers - they're sort of mirror images, though, aren't they? Xenia comes out with unbelievable views, sometimes, especially on her 3 favourite subjects; SAHMs, money and education. But have you ever read her being rude about anyone? She expresses views that some of us find quite offensive at times, yet she just plugs away, defending her views. I've never ever seen her dish out a gratuitous insult. Actually, that makes it worse, sometimes - she refuses to rise to the bait when people insult her!

expatinscotland · 24/01/2008 23:48

So it was all the pregnancy, hunker?

Whoa!

I'm dead proud, though, when I put on my bra and DD1 says, 'DD2 sucked your booby'.

expatinscotland · 24/01/2008 23:49

Not seen Xenia or madamez ever being rude.

DC, well, he seemed to think he had a license for being racist.

Well, so could a lot of us, but why? What good is that going to do?

Magdelanian · 24/01/2008 23:50

Monkeytrousers, not naming names but even I've had a run-in with -----. Maybe she is a he . She only posts on certain threads.

Monkeytrousers · 24/01/2008 23:51

No, why did she leave? Is she just on sabbatical?

Magdelanian, looks like you will fit in well here - all you need is a strong constitution - otherwise, theres always netmums..

I once was asked at a softplay while I was waiting fro Niceglasses, 'are you netmums?' to which I answered automatically, 'No, mumsnet!'..The woman backed away so fast but I would still see the whites of her eyes at 20 paces!

Monkeytrousers · 24/01/2008 23:52

Hm, very true 40+. I have laid bait that has gone mouldy before...

madamez · 24/01/2008 23:52

Expat: not ever seen me being rude? Drat! My Evilometer must be not working again.

expatinscotland · 24/01/2008 23:53

I think she may have gotten bored, but again, I can't say because I wasn't priviledged enough to know.

MI would, though.

I know she lost her father to a drunk driver and that put a lot in perspective for her and needed some time to deal with all that .

But really someone who knows her better would be able to tell.

expatinscotland · 24/01/2008 23:54

But you gotta admit, madame, my definition of rude is pretty warped .

Monkeytrousers · 24/01/2008 23:55

MI is soo posh (speaking). I was truely intimidated when speakin to her - she;s stopped emailing me now too since she heard my common voice ONly joking MI.

Magdelanian · 24/01/2008 23:56

I dont know her at all just noticed her name alot when I lurked as a newbie but did see a post from her last week.

fortyplus · 24/01/2008 23:56

expatinscotland - in England the signs used to say
No blacks
No Irish
No dogs

Seems unbelievable now, but there is still an undercurrent, isn't there?

The older generation who wouldn't dream of thinking that they were racist. I had it with my own father...

DS1 going to his friend Mohammed after school: dad asked 'But what will they give him for tea'

'Err... fish fingers, probably!'

My dad used to tease us with 'Last one upstairs is a nig nog!'

'Eeny, meeny, miney, mo...'

Was really pissed off when a Parsi family moved next door... 'Never thought we'd have Pakis living here'.

But he would've died if someone had called him racist.

Because, of course, when he took someone on at work he'd hire the best person - not caring about race. His dentist was Indian and he loved him to bits... alll those things.

I accepted it as normal as a child, but as an adult I've really struggled to come to terms with it.

Monkeytrousers · 24/01/2008 23:57

This bloke is Polish, but his English is coming on so well and he's got such lovely kids and we've got the sleeping bag and spare mattress out and he's got his toothbrush and kit and he even brought some yummy Polish sausages for breakfast!

forty, it's really hard to believe, isn't it?

Monkeytrousers · 25/01/2008 00:12

Jump right in and don;t take things too personally and you will fit in just fine Pyra.
