god, i have to say i think they are so funny. there are some very clever people on here who are very quick minded.

the question i put to you is...

if everyone on mn had a fight, who would win and why?

OP posts:
Heathcliffscathy · 25/01/2008 09:53

i like xenia.

niceglasses · 25/01/2008 09:57

I don't really like fights and although I will say my bit.....over and over again probably.....I'll back off usually if it gets nasty. It really tends to upset me. I'm one of those annoying pple that takes things too seriously...like the man with the big nose me mam always said. Wha?

I like Xenia too, even tho I rarely agree with her.

fortyplus · 25/01/2008 10:14

Shall we start a xenia fan club? The MNer with whom most people enjoy an argument? When I'm disagreeing with her it really matters to me - whereas mostly I don't really care.

Pyracantha · 25/01/2008 10:24

Are there proper rows then? What about?

Pyracantha · 25/01/2008 10:28

In all seriousness everything I've asked people have been dead nice about and given me advice. There is one odd woman on a support thread I've contributed to a few times who seems to make a point of replying to everyone else who posts and totally ignoring me, but she did start the thread so I decided I wasnt welcome and retired gracefully. Seemed reasonable enough tho.

berolina · 25/01/2008 10:38

I like xenia a lot. She is a very endearing mix of brazen balls and good nature.

I'm a sensitive soul on the whole - alhough have the thickest skin in the world in one or two areas of my life, due to hard-won experience -, and in my early MNetting days I had rather a case of PFB. A couple of mild to moderate roastings on a couple of threads took some of the edge off that. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that MN, for all I read more than I post, has played an important part in my maturation as a person and a mother. Mixing in an environment of general goodwill (and MN is full of goodwill, all the more so, IMO, for not suffering fools gladly) with a lot of bright, funny, passionate people can't fail to be good for you. And the fights are all part and parcel of that - although I tend to stand holding coats and only occasionally dip a tentative toe in.

Quattrocento · 25/01/2008 10:39

I love Xenia's posts and I am an unashamed fan - don't know whether she necessarily is best mano a mano, IYSWIM

Also Martian Bishop, who has such a wonderful, level and rounded view of the universe - her words always seem like suitable last words on any and every topic

niceglasses · 25/01/2008 10:46

Berolina, nice post - echoes a lot of what I think and said so much better......

LadyJogsAlot · 25/01/2008 11:16

why is everyone being so nice?!
come on you lot, FIGHT!

god, i just hate breastfeeding, fruit shoots are so much better.

pankhurst · 25/01/2008 11:27

i agree... from a religious and moral point of view.

fruit shoots indicate high standards of personal hygiene and intelligence.

any woman who does not afford their baby these is a slattern. and unlikley to pass through the gates.

(has anyone got a spare wooden spoons as mine has just broken...)

ItsNeverTooEarlyForPopcorn · 25/01/2008 11:37

I usually learn something new from the rows on MN especially when you have someone who is passionate and knowledgable about a subject. Aitch - BLW, Hunker, moondog - B/F.

I've certainly gained an insight to how others cope with both rearing children with autism and dealing with rude and insenitive people.

So, yeah, rows can be good.

duchesse · 25/01/2008 11:40

Doing a typical for me thing and responding the OP about 3 million posts after everyone else has left it behind...

I love a good debate. I do not it when people get all aggrieved b/c someone else does not share their opinion/ word view. WTF is a debate if it does not involve difference of opinion? This is what I miss most about real life- you have to be so bloody wishy washy all the time and avoid having any opinions in case someone else is offended by them. Now that's shit... Please for god's sake let's not allow that level of blandness to creep into MN.

Am now off to beat my tax return to death with a stick.

cherryredretrochick · 25/01/2008 12:30

Since this thread is already dying a death and I can't kill it, how come whenever I post on something everybody else disappears, I think as through the whole of my life I am just always too late to be part of it. Love reading the fights but I always seem to be just too late to join in.

I have finally realised ( thunk ) that I love a good fight about somehing that I care about a bit. I find many posters are particularly articulate and witty and smart when it is something they care about. But I have also learnt thatthere are a couple of subjects where i can get really upset so I hide.

yes. Frickin obvious to the world at large but took me a couple of months ( double thunk).

And I know in an ideal world those with any brains wouldn't get upset about stuff on an open forum but deeply emotional issues make you loose that logic. So finally doin the grown up thing.
Thank you 'hide'

VVVQV · 25/01/2008 13:51

Xenia's alright. Her heart is in the right place.

MT - your DP looks like a cross between John Simm and Martin Freeman!!!!

jabberwocky · 25/01/2008 14:16

Frankly, I've always been in awe of the posters who actually find the time to fight

Monkeytrousers · 25/01/2008 15:55

More MF than JS in the unkempt flesh!

I also echo berolina's sentiments. I know I do go on a bit but MN has really helped me find confidence in my own voice when to comes to writing and expressing my ideas off board. It's been essential in that process of maturation - which was long overdue in me.

The curse is broken, Hadn't seen Xenia around for a while but spotted her on a therad this morning. Problem is most of us use MN for different reasons, I know I am a bit lacking in adult company, Xenia has a hard corner to fight and she does it very well.

cherryredretrochick · 25/01/2008 17:09

SORRY I've done it again

fortyplus · 25/01/2008 21:26

I'll bump it for you 'cos I'm so kind and lovely

Karen999 · 25/01/2008 21:29
