To think publishing the video of King Charles getting annoyed when signing a visitors book today is very unkind?

He has lost both parents in a short time frame, had a disagreement with his own son and taken on a very stressful job at the height of grief. AIBU to think this should not have been made public? Most people would lose their temper at a time like that in their own lives. Why publish this?

If anyone reads the article they haven’t been made redundant, just notified their jobs are at risk. It would surely be self apparent anyway.

That is the first legal stage of being made redundant.

PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog · 13/09/2022 22:07

Re the staff. Surely redundancy would happen anyway, there will be staff doing the same jobs across the different Royal Households, for different family members, so if not the Queen's staff, then the King's would be made redundant? HMQ's staff will surely have more pensioned years and so would be better off under redundancy than other staff anyway.

But it is the national mourning period. It is disrespectful.

MsTSwift · 13/09/2022 22:11

He’s known to be tantrummy and rather spoilt thought that was common knowledge. Think Camilla deserves much credit don’t think he’s an easy husband - met her in real life she’s warm and likeable and like her DV campaign.

The press say quite clearly that staff were not expecting redundancies and it was a shock.

Oh & the press are known for their honesty & accuracy 🙄🙄

The staff aren't stupid, they knew exactly what would happen when the Queen died.

It is not a good look.

I can see you are a big fan, but try to view this as a non-fan and you will see it really looks bad.

Or they could have TUPEd them over to the Palace. We keep being told "now is not the time for whatever ". Yet it is the time to sack people who have probably been working really hard to make this ceremonial palava look seamless.

Absolutely correct and I'm sure these people aren't paid very well.

Cheeseandwines · 13/09/2022 22:15

I feel it's just a part of his personality on show. Something for the public to get more used to.

Floralei · 13/09/2022 22:15

I thought this was him going to be really pissy! It isn’t - if it was me, I’d have stamped on it and burst into tears from grief, tiredness, pressure and just general misery and “fuckit can’tthepenjustbloodyworkPLEASE”

MelodyPondsMum · 13/09/2022 22:15

You think they shouldn't have publicised it so have started a thread bringing it to even more people's attention. Hmm. Hmm

Zonder · 13/09/2022 22:16

Poor man. I'd have a mutter and a swear in his shoes too.

PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog · 13/09/2022 22:16

I'm not a 'fan' actually. I don't feel strongly either way about the monarchy. I just think it's unkind to scrutinize an elderly, grieving man to such a degree.

I have to admit that I've been impressed with Camilla - she seems a very down-to-earth type. He's lucky to have her.

It's all over the media. I haven't publicized anything! Hmm

You started the thread Grin

Amazing lack of awareness there, did you think no one would post?

PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog · 13/09/2022 22:19

Talking about the video, not the thread. I have autism (diagnosed in childhood) so maybe not the most self aware person, sometimes...

Thought it was telling how Camilla stepped up and filled in without missing a beat. She must be used to smoothing over the little tantrums. Charles and Diana must have been quite similar, both given to histrionics. Camilla seems more level-headed.

Now I feel bad having used the word awareness, apologies for that.

Don't worry.

Well this is the difference between a great royal, like the Queen, and then someone like Charles.

The Queen would never have lost her cool in this situation.

He's a moody git and has form. I still think William should have been King.

Charles comes across like a petulant toddler. He’s under massive strain and is grieving but literally everything that can be smoothed for him is and he just has to show up.

My DF died at 2 am. We had to bury him the same day. I’d had a day at work, spent the evening and night at the hospital when I got the call to say he had had a heart attack. I’d watched him die, was in numb shock and disbelief but had to go get the death certificate from another hospital department, go into town first thing to register his death, help the registrar with the spelling of his name, ring round relatives and friends, the relevant clergy and burial person and sort out food for after the funeral. At the time there was just me and DD doing everything till everyone else arrived. The next week was full of the admin that surrounds a death - long phone calls to call centres etc. I managed not to swear at anyone doing their job, just because I was going through hell. I’m no saint but I try my damnest not to take shit out on people who aren’t trying to piss me off. If he’s like this in public I can only imagine what he’s like out the public eye.

I also noticed this.

MelodyPondsMum · 13/09/2022 22:23

I hadn't seen it. Not everyone is slavishly watching all the coverage. It's a nonsense position to argue something shouldn't be brought to people's attention ... whilst bringing it to people's attention. No-one else felt the need to start a MN thread about it.

PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog · 13/09/2022 22:24

Why post then @MelodyPondsMum?

I just lost my father, closely followed by my grandmother and at no point did my grief cause me to be rude to people, nor have public outbursts.

Charles is a spoilt old man who I doubt is relishing his new position.

Yes but you didn't have to travel the length and breadth of the UK signing documents and listening endlessly to all the old rituals of government, shaking hands with children and dogs with the weight of kingship on your shoulders did you? No comparison for goodness sake.
