To think publishing the video of King Charles getting annoyed when signing a visitors book today is very unkind?

He has lost both parents in a short time frame, had a disagreement with his own son and taken on a very stressful job at the height of grief. AIBU to think this should not have been made public? Most people would lose their temper at a time like that in their own lives. Why publish this?

I think him saying 'I hate this ' encompasses everything that he's had to do in the last few days . The pen was the last straw .

I just lost my father, closely followed by my grandmother and at no point did my grief cause me to be rude to people, nor have public outbursts.

Charles is a spoilt old man who I doubt is relishing his new position.

Sorry for your loss and I completely agree

He's just sacked a load of staff during this period of mourning when we're not supposed to ride bikes or catch buses or whatever other nonsensical bullshit they've come out with. I was all for being respectful until people were losing their jobs and getting arrested for wrongthink.

Wrong he hasn’t sacked anyone

PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog · 13/09/2022 21:30

Never claimed to be. Some of these posts are shockingly callous.

That's what I thought too. He needs a break

Itsgettingweird lots of people I work have very difficult circumstances and still manage to act professionally every day

elizaregina · 13/09/2022 21:31

I wonder if they Will reveal the maker of the pen?

I wonder if it's a cross!

StaunchMomma · 13/09/2022 21:31

The problem is, we never saw the Queen behave like that in 70 years, even though she also lost a parent and then came to the thrown at a much earlier age.

It is awfully embarrassing though.

Snoozer11 · 13/09/2022 21:31

EllaBn22 · 13/09/2022 21:25

I watch Camilla in both videos and find that telling.

I had much affection for the Queen - no similar videos of her exist and she has had her share of difficult times under the lens.

I can't think of a time the Queen had gone through a similar situation. Yes she worked hard, but Charles has been to all four nations so many times over the last few days, he probably doesn't know what country he's in. He certainly didn't know what day it was.

I don't think this moment is comparable to anything that's come before. All the documents, all the pomp, all the world's media trained on him.

If he picked up the pen and threw it at an aide, I think you would have a point. But grumbling under your breath is nothing. I grumble all the time.

nachoavocado · 13/09/2022 21:26

It must be so hard to grieve whilst having your every move examined

He doesn't have to be on the move though. I assume he could grieve somewhere quieter...or even abdicate. He is on the move because he wants to be seen and to let people know he is their new king.

WibbleBibble · 13/09/2022 21:32

I actually dont think its that bad, you can see a huge amount of ink when the man wipes it down. He's had a very full on few days, as have others agreed, but they arent being filmed quite as close up as the King is. I imagine being covered in ink at a time when all eyes are on you, and as he says it happens 'all the stinking time' must be seriously frustrating

Onceinnever · 13/09/2022 21:32

He is also really old. If that were my dad I'd want him to sit down and have a rest.

Exactly.

And he should hate it.

I hated everything about my mums death and the things we had to do afterwards. I spent her funeral trying not to throw up.

He was only in her 60's but had cancer. We knew she was dying.

It was still so hard to cope with. And I could do it privately.

I burst into tears or fury when the loo roll ended mid wipe. I can't remember what I said but it was definitely some reference to it being shit (deliberate pun was intended). It was just something else "going wrong" rather than any indication of my personality.

I'm I cussed most days of the week of being too laid back Grin

LobeliaBaggins · 13/09/2022 21:33

Camilla's face is very telling. She has the look of a resigned wife used to tiptoing around her snappy husband. Men get grumpier as they get older and I think Charles is grumpy enough for two.

I felt this watching him with the inkpot the other day- looked like he was having a tantrum tbh. I wish him all the best for his new role but wish he had the grace of his mother.

I manage to act professionally daily.

Did the whole way through my mums death.

However after she died I took a week off. I couldn't have gone into work and not been upset over stupid things.

He has no choice. He is still a human being though.

Coffeaddict · 13/09/2022 21:34

1000yellowdaisies · 13/09/2022 21:04

Just watched the clip.....i can't even see the issue, he barely says anything. The way the papers are reporting you'd think he threw the pen across the room and upended the desk

This. And I say that as someone who is not a big fan of the royals

Stressybetty · 13/09/2022 21:34

He's exhausted, stressed and grieving. He doesn't even know if it's the 12th or 13th of September. Nice thing about the Clip is Camilla helping him, obviously a nice close couple

elizaregina · 13/09/2022 21:34

And I suppose it would honour his working to her last days 96 year old mother to say...

Had enough?
Packing it in?

I understand people don't like the monarchy etc but I can't understand why people are so unforgiving about the pen?

He's also got an EastEnders family drama going on!

TooMuchToDoTooLittleInclination · 13/09/2022 21:35

SecondsAreTheBest · 13/09/2022 21:17

Thank you op for bringing this to my attention. I hadn't known about it. I used to like Charles but I'm slowly changing my mind about him.

Really?

he's just lost his mum. It's irrelevant that he's a grown or that his mum was the queen or 96.

however old you are, or Royal you are, it's still your mum.

hes 73 & hasn't stopped in 6 days, most of it with a camera shoved in his face. Sat through hours & hours of official ceremonies, services & meetings.

A fountain pen spills ink over him, frankly what he said was a lot more restrained than most of us could have managed!

PaddleBoardingMomma · 13/09/2022 21:35

Oh for fucks sake.

The man can’t even recall the correct date in that clip, he’s over 70 years of age, exhausted, has been dragged from pillar to post all over the UK, whilst under intense media scrutiny, he probably doesnt know if he’s coming or going and the pen leaked all over Camillas hand, it may well just be that one thing that really pissed him off, like any other human being under pressure!!!!

MN has turned into such a monarchy hating cess pit this week, any excuse to be disrespectful or cruel or flippant.

As for the redundancies, each RF member has their own staff, once they move to Buckingham palace there will be the queens staff there who are already trained in that building, who know how it’s run, he can’t be expected to take his staff with him and have two sets of of staff, surely? You’d all be up in arms that the “tax payer” was paying for a house full of staff with no one in it if they weren’t sacked.

Theres no pleasing people who are insistent on finding fault!

LaurenM87 · 13/09/2022 21:36

Not at all, it comes with the territory.

Probably upset that they might have to live together now

WoodlandMummy · 13/09/2022 21:36

This behaviour doesn’t surprise me. It’s exactly
how I expect Charles to behave. He’s always comes across as a spoilt, petulant man child.

daysayso · 13/09/2022 21:36

WeepingSomnambulist · 13/09/2022 21:14

There are loads of videos of charles making nasty comments and being short tempered. It's who he is. He is a spoilt boy who surrounded himself with yes men from young age. He just doesn't have the grace he should for this role. We might as well get used to it. It has nothing to do with his grief.

Exactly this. He's a bit of a twat is the bottom line,

While the queen was an amazing person she didn't appear to have instilled the values she should have in her kids they're all spoilt and done deserve the whole country Bowing down to them.

What an embarrassment he is
