To think publishing the video of King Charles getting annoyed when signing a visitors book today is very unkind?

He has lost both parents in a short time frame, had a disagreement with his own son and taken on a very stressful job at the height of grief. AIBU to think this should not have been made public? Most people would lose their temper at a time like that in their own lives. Why publish this?

Being an awful jerk is ok I guess

He's not being a jerk he's just a bit pissed off with a pen

Bretonbear · 13/09/2022 21:43

Maybe he shouldn't have got so annoyed?

Viviennemary · 13/09/2022 21:43

I think giving him a leaky pen to sign a document of historic importance was enough to make anybody annoyed.

BringOnAutumn · 13/09/2022 21:43

MNetters pride themselves on being sweary and direct.

Princess Anne is loved due to her down to earth cantankerousness. And swearing.

Really, after what he’s gone through this week - under the spotlight, is it really so unexpected when something goes wrong.

Why? Why shouldn't he get a bit miffed at a leaky pen? Lots of people do.

ParasiticMicrowasp · 13/09/2022 21:44

Surely it's some from column A and some from column B? He's a typical spoilt, petulant man-child who's barely heard the word 'No'... who's also getting quite old, very tired, and extremely stressed following his mother's death. A perfect storm of trying circumstance and trying personality.

elizaregina · 13/09/2022 21:44

wicked new king Charlie' show's his dark side by taking his frustration out on an innocent pen

King Charles who has had 2 Hours sleep, since his beloved mother passed away, and flown all over the country in tense diplomatic situations, whilst holding respectful vigil's for his late mother, marred by hecklers calling out his disgraced brother today let his wrath go ....at his own personal unfortunate pen.

The society of representatives of fountain pens has been contacted..

He chose the pen, it is his special pen.

TBF, if someone gave me a leaky pen I’d be pretty pissed off 😡

Pissed off with the pen, or pissed of with the person who gave the pen to you? A pen can turn leaky at any time - it's nobody's fault, it's just a pen going leaky.

I can imagine the Queen could get quite easily pissed 'orf at times too. The royals are bound to have a bit of entitlement about them, seeing as being entitled is their very purpose in life. They're all a bit blunt and snappy I reckon.

Needs a biro

elizaregina · 13/09/2022 21:46

Parasitic...

What's your Idea of a perfect childhood?
Do you have children?

It's just I wonder how spoilt this man is ?
When I think of the word spoiled. I usually think of bad things.

In his case sent to a school he hated?. badly beaten up? Begged to go home?

Ok ok he's pissed of at the pen! He is probably reconsidering who gets the royal warrant for pens.

Thatusernamewastaken · 13/09/2022 21:47

thought this was referencing him shooing the inkwells out of the way and gritting his teeth at staff and acting like a brat the other day, but no, it's another incident.
Do people really think this behaviour is a one off because his mother has died? I really doubt it, he's just led a life of entitlement

That leaked. I mean we all laugh a happily at a leaked pen and never, ever get frustrated by a leaky pen ruining documents and getting on out fingers. Pluses the frustration of potentially having signed significant documents with the wrong date.

Ffs, I’m a republican, no question, but I’m also not a cunt. He’s in his 70s and he has just lost his Mother. He hasn’t had a moments rest and has been required to travel up and down the Union since the day his Mother died. He’s a fucking human being for fucks sake, not an automaton. I have sympathy.

This. This sounds much politer than I might have been.

I am seriously unimpressed with the consultation on jobs though.

EscapeRoomToTheSun · 13/09/2022 21:28

I just lost my father, closely followed by my grandmother and at no point did my grief cause me to be rude to people, nor have public outbursts.

Charles is a spoilt old man who I doubt is relishing his new position.

I'm very sorry to hear about your father & grandfather.

however, unless you had a camera shoved in your face for 6 days and took
over the position of 'King/Queen' & travelled miles & miles, sat through countless services & meetings and shook hands with thousands of people, and are mid 70's,you can't really compare the two.

Snoozer11 · 13/09/2022 21:49

Wasn't the pen a gift from William and Harry? Maybe Meghan sabotaged it haha.

HilarityEnsues · 13/09/2022 21:50

All of the Royals of that generation seem a bit grumpy, even Anne, no idea about Edward but Andrew and Charles certain are pompous.

I think what he did was human, and that's fine because he is human. I would have sworn! But that's why I don't want a monarchy or if it is retained, then it to be very discreet and hardly present at all, it's ridiculous to expect a human to be almost godly and then very disappointed if they turn out to be ordinary like everyone else.

I am sure the Daily Heil will find some way to blame MM for the pen issues

DarkDarkNight · 13/09/2022 21:51

It’s just who he is isn’t it? I don’t think it’s to do with grief, just a man who is used to everyone smoothing his way wherever he goes. He is petulant and lacks the sense to hide it.

The redundancy notice is beyond belief. Whoever thought that was appropriate should be the one losing their job! Terrible optics. I get that it is necessary, but it could have waited until after the funeral. I think it’s something the media would have jumped on eventually in terms of the Royals wasting money if staffing changes weren’t made, but the timing is truly appalling. We are still in the official mourning period, it is really disrespectful.

Just watched. I was hoping for something even slightly dramatic given the comments on here.
Storm in a teacup springs to mind.
