How to be more “prestige”

yumyumchocobun · 11/09/2022 15:57

The title says it all, how can I become “prestige”. If you can think of someone prestigious , how would you describe them?

OP posts:

You can't be 'more prestige'. It's an all or nothing thing.

It's about being exceptional.

In a good way.

NippyWoowoo · 11/09/2022 16:33

Why do you care why I care? Lol

Because I think it's lazy to ask people to explain things to you will little effort from yourself. Knowing why it matters to you and what exactly it means to you is a bare minimum you could give if you're expecting the same from others.

A prestigious person would know this.

dworky · 11/09/2022 16:34

Why do you want or need to feel better than others?

PegasusReturns · 11/09/2022 16:35

Prestige doesn’t really apply to people.

Class, status and elegance are three very different things.

Outside the system of ordering society based on perceived social status, class is about the how you conduct yourself. Your earlier response was totally without class.

Status is earned. Generally through wealth or your job.

Elegance usually comes down to having a BMI of less than 19 and a penchant for pearls and silk scarves.

Lockheart · 11/09/2022 16:35

Breeding.

You have it or don't, you can't acquire it.

twistyizzy · 11/09/2022 16:36

I just find this a very strange question 🤔

SpoonyMcFace · 11/09/2022 16:38

I think it's quite an interesting question.

mathanxiety · 11/09/2022 16:38

We are all made of stardust ...

<wafts off>

PinkArt · 11/09/2022 16:39

Are you all just miserable fat women in your 40s going through mid life crisis right now to be sending these answers? Im confused, the question was genuine. How can someone have prestige, Status, Class, Elegance.
I'd say the best way to be a person who has class is not to be cunty to strangers who you've asked for help 🤷🏻‍♀️

NotMyDust · 11/09/2022 16:40

I'd say it comes from within: seeking to expand your mind, being interested in cultural stuff, not getting angry, being self aware and kind.

Then people may hold you in prestige.

Arnaquer · 11/09/2022 17:13

Have you got an assignment to write OP?

Softplayhooray · 11/09/2022 17:14

Sparklesocks · 11/09/2022 16:09

Perform a series of elaborate magic tricks in the 19th century to rival Hugh jackman with your secret body double as Michael Caine watches on.

I was going to say something similar 😂

Loics · 11/09/2022 17:42

I'm only luxury, how do I get the prestige upgrade?!

VladmirsPoutine · 11/09/2022 17:56

Marry a Prince.

But if you want to generally improve yourself start with your health - eat well, sleep enough, look after your skin.

XingMing · 11/09/2022 18:08

Prestige is public acclaim, and earned. An accolade awarded by your equals and contemporaries in your field. Not purchased on social media.

somanybooks · 11/09/2022 16:23

Gretchen, stop trying to make prestige happen, it's not going to happen.

😂

stayathomegardener · 12/09/2022 18:24

@Allywill I take it all back!

Lilyhatesjaz · 12/09/2022 18:58

The word makes me think of pressure cookers for some reason, not sure why

StuntEgg · 12/09/2022 19:00

If you've got to ask, you'll never know.

Sunnyqueen · 12/09/2022 19:05

Blonde, puffy bobs with lots of hairspray used.
Might want to work on the grammar too.

Allywill · 12/09/2022 19:27

stayathomegardener · 12/09/2022 18:24

@Allywill I take it all back!

Thank you - I basically wouldn’t exist without Prestige!

MistyGreenAndBlue · 12/09/2022 19:29

Red trousers? Or is that just men?

Skatewing · 12/09/2022 19:32

What the fuck are you going on about? 😂😂

SavoirFlair · 12/09/2022 19:32

Other posters have pointed this out before but @yumyumchocobun you’re wilfully missing the utter absurdity of all of this.

”Prestige” is something that is granted due to the perception of others and due to your achievements.

Because you’ve shared so little (and been abusive to those who asked) then it’s impossible for me to help you and define what is “prestige” for you and how to help you get there.

if I knew your profession, a bit more about your age and background, that would really help. None of this is outing if you say “I’m a 45 year old schoolteacher who wants to become more prestigious or regarded as such”. We could then talk about all manner of things that could help. Not outing at all - there must be a thousand teachers a day on here. Same for most professions.

so YABU because you’ve given so little but give everyone a hard time who asks

That’s the plot to the 2006 hit film The Prestige of course!
