Are abortions dangerous?

If you only have the pill one? Wondering if its safe to do more than pnce.

Thanks

No, early abortions are not dangerous, whatever the anti-abortionists might claim.

WeepingSomnambulist · 11/09/2022 09:03

What do you mean?

They're not dangerous. You can have more than one abortion of it is necessary.

I’m anti abortion but the facts are clear - abortion like any medical procedure has small risks but it’s generally a safe procedure and actually the earlier it’s die the safer it is. My personal views would never cloud the medical facts

BarbaraofSeville · 11/09/2022 09:06

Being pregnant and giving birth is probably more of a risk to health, especially when the mother doesn't want to be pregnant.

pointythings · 11/09/2022 09:06

In general abortions are safer than childbirth. Early abortions are the safest. You absolutely can have more than one. Anti abortion campaigners are liars.

Hope that helps.

LatteCappucino · 11/09/2022 09:06

*done

ShallowHalle · 11/09/2022 09:07

Yes it does help
Thanks so much.

OP didn’t actually mention where she got the info from - This could just be something she is worrying about independently

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 11/09/2022 09:08

I agree that they’re safe and much safer than pregnancy and childbirth.

ShallowHalle · 11/09/2022 09:11

Im having a second abortion this year.! I was using the cycle method and it obviously has badly failed. Sounds horrible but I have to have this done..there is just no way I could keep this.

It will be fine , it’s a very safe procedure so please dont worry

toomuchlaundry · 11/09/2022 09:14

You need to sort out your contraception method too

Peashoots · 11/09/2022 09:16

It doesn’t sound horrible at all, you need to make the right decision for you. Abortion is generally very safe when under the guidance of medical professionals (even at home). Please consider a more reliable method of contraception, for your own sake. I wish you all the best 💐

How can you be anti abortion? 🤯

Because I am and everyone is entitled to their opinion. I would never push my views on others though and I understand the medical facts etc as I’ve explained here on this thread. I’m not religious at all, I don’t really speak much about this apart from somewhere anonymous such as MN. It is my personal opinion and I am anti abortion

pointythings · 11/09/2022 09:24

@LatteCappucino you're not a campaigner, you're just someone who is anti abortion. But the campaigners who stand outside clinics and go into schools do lie. They present pictures of third trimester foetuses and then tell people all aborted foetuses look like that. They tell women that they will suffer a lifetime of regrets and health issues if they terminate a pregnancy. They tell women that having an abortion affects future fertility. And those things are all lies.

OP, you need to sort out some proper contraception - the cycle method is not reliable.

LatteCappucino · 11/09/2022 09:25

When I say I am anti abortion I mean just that - me. I’m not anti others having abortion. But I can’t call myself pro choice as I’m not really but I commented on this thread as it was assumed misinformation about safety may have come from those who are anti abortion and I wanted to make it clear that’s not always the case.

I have teenage daughters who are pro choice and I respect them for that as they respect me for my views

Yes and those people are wrong to do that and I would want to distance myself as far as possible from them. They shouldn’t do that.

Do you mean you are anti abortion as in you wouldn't have one? I guess we are similar but I would have one in some situations that will hopefully never come to happen.

Do you mean you are anti abortion as in you wouldn't have one? I guess we are similar but I would have one in some situations that will hopefully never come to happen.

It’s very very complicated in my case. I actually had a forced abortion as a teen. I saw those people outside the clinic - it traumatised me. I was taken repeatedly until I gave in and it was not early but that stage. I was damaged by my abuser and also the system that allowed it as I was vocal and clear I was not consenting - this is why I’m anti abortion - I would never have one again myself. I would never push these views into others and I’m lucky that my family and very close friends the few who know - although not sharing the same views respect mine .

My daughters absolutely know if they needed an abortion that I would be by their side supporting , they know about my past , they know my stance yet they know my love for them and my respect for them to have bodily autonomy and choices would mean that they have my full support. That extends to anyone I would never tell someone they are wrong . Me not agreeing with abortion is not something I’d push into others but I can’t honestly say I’m pro choice as that wouldn’t be true but I’d always respect others

CandyLeBonBon · 11/09/2022 09:42

@LatteCappucino that sounds so traumatic. I can understand your position. Flowers

pointythings · 11/09/2022 09:45

@LatteCappucino so sorry you were put through that. You have nevertheless chosen a respectful position towards people who feel otherwise. That's pretty amazing.

CandyLeBonBon · 11/09/2022 09:42

It’s important to me because I had my choice taken away that it doesn’t happen to others in the opposite way so that’s why I commented on this thread as if OP did in fact get misinformation from anti abortion campaigners it’s important that she knows they are wrong

BorsetshireBanality · 11/09/2022 09:47

Not as dangerous as illegal back-street abortions “in the good old days”.

IhateHermioneGranger · 11/09/2022 09:50

I don't think it is dangerous. However once it has been dealt with please don't use the natural method for contraception.
