I thought it was odd that the BBC showed the flag at Buckingham Palace at half mast BEFORE Huw Edwards made the announcement!

Huw and Nick are doing such an amazing job.

Apparently there was a double one over Buckingham Palace earlier as well. It's like even the weather wants to mark her death.

Amazing woman, no matter what one thinks of the rest of the family.

People were having a go at me when I mentioned the black banner on the bbc website .
I knew she was gone

Gawking. The Princess Di effect. Loads of people taking social media photos of the notice.

I was the same - I hope it's not disrespectful, but I thought that's almost 10 decades of dogs and horses waiting to greet her.

What a strange and solemn evening.

That rainbow made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Beautiful.

I think the Queen would have agreed with the sentiment. I'm your final moments all your digs and horses come to say goodbye.

I’m really sad actually. I’m a lifelong republican, but it feels like yet another chapter has closed, and not in a good way. RIP.

None of us woke up this morning imagining for a minute how today would end.

Our wonderful and cherished Great Queen Elizabeth II left us today.
I can scarcely believe it.
How did we go from the meeting with the new Prime Minister by the fire side to this today?
We did not know those last photos and moments would be some of her last, and the shock must be reverberating around the world.

Alarmingly not far off.

I am so sad. RIP Queen Elizabeth II.

I don't know if Huw is going to get through this, it is so sad to hear his beautiful voice wavering.
