What if there isn't going to be an announcement because nothing is happening?

Sky News said “we’re just waiting for Harry now”

If there wasn’t an announcement imminent, and the Queen wasn’t expected to pass away today (if she hasn’t already), would the media not be called off?

Surely the palace wouldn’t want rolling coverage like this for days?

I was told it was probably going to be announced at 6pm, that's what at least one news outlet was being told. They were told hours ago she'd died but official announcement would very likely be 6pm.

If you've been watching BBC news its quite clear reading between the lines they were expecting and planning for a 6pm announcement. They are waiting for more news from the Royal Family and it does seem that they may be waiting for Harry.

Why do people think Prince Harry not being there would hold up an announcement? What about Peter Phillips her oldest grandchild? Or his sister Zara.

Just perhaps her death has not been announced because she is still alive?

I suspect this news only kicked in when she had died, but they won't announce until the family have prepared for the next ten days of mourning, and been given time with her

How much more can he say? They have been waffling for hours, must be bored of saying the same stuff over and over and trying to think of stuff to say, I can't imagine it's easy.

So we will find out she died 'hours ago'. Why no announcement then, just hours of waffle?

Guessing having to wait for Harry is because he's the son of the next monarch?

I agree! I'm not a fan of this filler tv. The reporters don't really know what to say so end up talking about the obvious or repeating what they do know. However I do find it weirdly compelling And

@Veeragall Protocol has that the announcement isn't made until all the family are together. So it goes, anyway.

If it's not happening today imagine how's she's feeling - imagine if she's watching this press coverage and just thinking "well this is ghoulish, everyone just waiting for me to die"

I thought that. Queen would have wanted him there before any announcement. Trust him to hold things up!

She died hours ago. They just haven't announced it yet

But what would the optics be if the announcement was made just as he comes running up the driveway

How is he travelling? He seems to have been on his way for a long time.

Because if it has happened. The family need to be told first and properly.

You wouldn't be making announcements about your Grandmother dying on Social Media or wherever before you'd told your nearest and dearest etc
