To warn you about CBeebies utube content

And ask you to report it?

Just came across ds (who’d searched for CBeebies on utube) and found this. Who makes this nonsense and why? So utterly unhelpful and revolting.

OP posts:
FloydWasACat · 08/09/2022 00:01

Came across what exactly?

Pixiedust1234 · 08/09/2022 00:04

I don't want to play it as YouTube count clicks. Whats wrong with it specifically?

5zeds · 08/09/2022 00:08

@Pixiedust1234 i thought that after I posted. It’s basically a sexualised version of children’s tv programs. With gross talk over and things like Little Cook being splashed in the face with milk.Just horrible and the title makes it easy for the unwary to watch it.

OP posts:
5zeds · 08/09/2022 00:09

@FloydWasACat my son watching this.

Our school sent an email warning parents about this but yes it needs reporting and the content removing off YouTube

5zeds · 08/09/2022 00:13

I’ve pressed report but it didn’t seem to do anything. I’m glad schools are dealing with it.

I reported it. You have to be signed in to report.

LSSG · 08/09/2022 04:36

Sorry OP, but children young enough to be watching c beebies really shouldn't be searching on you tube, especially un or only part-supervised. We surely all know there's stuff like this on there. Then you're asking other people to click on it too?

BigChesterDraws · 08/09/2022 04:38

Report what? And why? Are we not a free country? This isn’t the worst thing on the Internet. Not even close. If you don’t like it, don’t look at it.

Wouldn’t Cbeebies usually appeal to children too young to be able to type into a YouTube search bar?

This is honestly why kids shouldn’t be allowed to look up things on you tube on their own. Hopefully it will be taken down, but there will just be a hundred another horrible things to take it’s place. Not judging as I had a similar incident with my daughter a while ago, I thought I’d set it so she was only looking at kid-suitable stuff but it wasn’t the case.

lickenchugget · 08/09/2022 05:17

This is why YouTube needs to be supervised not censored

GhostFromTheOtherSide · 08/09/2022 05:30

This stuff has always been out there. This kind of content, rude versions of nursery rhymes, etc etc this kind of content is nothing new.

Ultimately the responsibility lies with the parents to not be allowing children unsupervised access to youtube. It’s not that difficult.

lomoko · 08/09/2022 05:38

Youtube is not safe for children and has never been safe for children. The internet is not safe for kids in general. These videos have been written about for years. Don't let your kids browse the internet unsupervised and always turn off algorithmic recommendations (like the sidebar on Youtube).

Yes, kids youtube is not a safe platform with screened content. It is also very easy for children to click away onto other videos.

Apart from that, a lot of the content that was deemed "safe" was questionable anyway.

BeethovenNinth · 08/09/2022 06:11

It’s by far from the worst thing out there. It’s just pathetic.

don’t ever let kids on You Tube unsupervised.

This.

cariadlet · 08/09/2022 06:40

I clicked on the link. Could only watch a couple of minutes because it was so badly done. Boring, tedious drivel.

But I won't complain. Children young enough to enjoy CBeebies shouldn't be using YouTube without adult supervision.

AteAllTheBourbons · 08/09/2022 06:40

Just stick to the official YouTube channels and turn off AutoPlay.

https://youtube.com/c/cbeebies is the official YouTube channel, anything else is dangerous

YouTube, as people mentioned already, is not safe for kids to navigate alone.

Sally090807 · 08/09/2022 06:40

Under their terms of service…..

You may use the Service if you are at least 13 years old; however, children of all ages may use the Service and YouTube Kids (where available) if enabled by a parent or legal guardian.

The responsibility lies with the parent and if they are young enough to be watching CBeebies they shouldn’t be on YouTube in my opinion.

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 08/09/2022 06:47

Children watching inappropriate things on YouTube comes up all the time on MN. It’s parent’s responsibility to monitor what their children watch. Ceebies is aimed at 6 yrs and under, definitely a age group who should be closely monitored on the internet or just get them to watch through the iplayer app.

Mummyoflittledragon · 08/09/2022 06:52

Agreed about the supervision. The only time my dd had access to YouTube so young was when she was sat a few metres away from me and watched the same song she obsessed with for a couple of months over and over.

Tarabavah · 08/09/2022 06:56

Haven't rtft. Solution is to ban YouTube. It basically doesn't exist in my house. My 3yo sees it occasionally if he's on a playdate at someone's house who let's their kid watch this junk. Sadly that's just life but it's really easy to just not let kids watch this. Parents need to take accountability and stop blaming the Internet.
