To ask when I should expect the warm weather to end?

I know a lot of people are dreading winter this year but I’m dreading this warm weather going on for much longer. It makes me utterly depressed. Ive stopped most of my hobbies, I avoid going out, I constantly feel crap and lethargic, I’m looking at the weather app everyday praying for colder weather but it’s over 20 degrees for the next few weeks at least.

How many more weeks before the cold and dark returns?? Any idea?

Yes I am worried about the fuel bills before anyone asks but I’m still craving the cold

Jesus it's SO muggy again even though it's only 20 degrees indoors, the big storm just made it worse🙄

Rosehugger · 05/09/2022 11:33

I hope never, so I don't have to put the heating on.

SleeplessInEngland · 05/09/2022 11:37

There are many weather forcast sites availble on the internet, OP.

EverySporkIsSacred · 05/09/2022 11:39

I am also wondering when it will end (but also simultaneously dreading having a cold winter).

Walked DD to school and was she was overheated in the stupid blazer with the ridiculously heavy rucksack she has to take in. None of the other kids even looked like they were bothered so it surely must be an inbuilt thing as to whether you're enjoy the heat or just find it unbearable?
I got home (30 minute walk) sweaty and gross and with a headache coming on from the sun (despite wearing sunglasses), I absolutely loathe this, I'm really looking forward to a nice cool autumn.

I utterly hate the gold and drab British weather. 20C really isn't that hot, especially with the cloud cover and rain showers we're having. I cannot understand how people would prefer the cold than to a mild (not hot or sunny as we aren't having that!) autumn.

With the cost of energy I would have expected everyone to say they want it to stay hot for as long as possible!

Going from past years, I would say it will stay in the higher teens up until mid/end of October

adhdforme · 05/09/2022 11:44

*cold 🤦‍♀️

balalake · 05/09/2022 11:46

Night time temperatures rather than daytime is the real guide, and I'd guess probably above 10C until next month. September often can be a month with sunshine.

It’s barely vaguely warm!

SirChenjins · 05/09/2022 11:57

I agree - 20 is nothing. I can’t understand how people are struggling at this sort of temperature - unless there is something medically wrong obviously. A fit, healthy person of normal weight shouldn’t be sweating profusely.

mydogisthebest · 05/09/2022 12:08

I struggle in really hot weather and I get migraines most days but at the moment it is just lovely and warm. Warm enough to wear summer clothes, to sit in the garden etc but not the stifling heat we have had this year.

I don't really mind the cold but the endless grey, drizzly damp days are just so depressing. Also the fact that it is dark until gone 8am and again by about 4pm I find awful.

DH's birthday is end of October and quite often it is still warm enough to wear short sleeves. Last year it was very warm

Rosehugger · 05/09/2022 12:13

I think it's brilliant. 20C can carry on all year round AFAIC, as long as we have some rain as well. Then hardly anyone would need to use much energy for heating and we can say big fuck you to the power generators.

theinkblackheart86 · 05/09/2022 12:20

Hopefully it'll get colder soon
Fingers crossed

Hopefully it won't. We are enjoying a warm 22 degrees right now.

I am just wearing a dress (and underwear) and am very comfortable not being constricted and bundled up against the cold.

Might not be where you are but it's horrible here, so muggy and sticky.

VladsPants · 05/09/2022 13:47

Muggy and sticky here too. I hate it.

I love cold, grey afternoons and dark evenings.

Although I love all the seasons if they behave themselves. Cold, crisp winter, sunny spring, warm summer moving into cooler autumn with all the beautiful colours. Rain only at night is preferable so as not to annoy anyone too much 😁

And I’ve got new pumpkin bedding to put on my bed for October and it won’t be right if it’s not cold enough 😁😁

God, it's SO feckin muggy and humid in Essex right now. I'm sick to death of this. I have felt hot, sweaty and uncomfortable pretty much non-stop since early July. Two months without a break. It was about 17 degrees last night.

I'm yearning with all my heart for a cold, bright day - sun, blue sky and cold enough to see your breath. But this heat isn't going anywhere. I can just feel it. I bet we have to wait until at least December for a cold day.

As someone else remarked, this heat brings people outside. I live in Essex, where they've jammed in so many rabbit hutch new builds that we now have way too many people squeezed into too little space. This summer has been a taste of the future – overcrowded and hot!!

RampantIvy · 05/09/2022 18:36

It's warm rather than muggy here. We have heavy rain forecast all week though.

headstone · 05/09/2022 19:42

It’s usually sometime in November after Halloween but who knows anymore.

TheLostNights · 05/09/2022 22:36

Horrible and humid again today. 23C and only just dropped to below 19C. I am sick to the back teeth of it.

This weather has been glorious! I absolutely love it. Long may it last and return to this each summer. Pleeeeease.

You’ll get your wish! It’s going to get hotter and hotter every year! Yay!

😬
